- In this video Mike Icee will replace the fuel filter on a Mercedes W212 E350 e-class. The fuel filter costs around $100 and is expected to last 15 years or 150,000 miles. You'll see most of the steps (step by step) and DIY tools needed. Always check with a Mercedes Dealer for proper parts and repair methods. The fuel filter on mine was located on the drivers side, and the fuel pump on the passenger side. This is for the gasoline not diesel cars.
I recently had an issue with my c300. Gas smell in cabin real bad gas leak and car just felt really weird to drive. After changing the filter car runs like new. No leaks, no more gas smell and a significant change in gas mileage. Love this video. It helped a lot.
I was literally just thinking about my fuel filter in my 2011 E350.
And my Noisy idler pulleys.
And my rear shocks that suck.
almost at 97k miles.
Thanks for the video!
LMAO, I put up a rear shock video, you only need to like remove every panel in trunk! Terrible lol.
i have noise pulleys too, dealer replaced 2 upper pulleys 1 tensioner and noise came back, sucks. w212 2010 135k
@@MAOZDJ did they replace the belt?
@@juicebox22a yes new belt, the noise goes away after cold start within 2min or less, puzzled, wasn't like when purchased 102K, noise started130K
Does the filter go out before the fuel pump typically? I'm trying to figure out which to change first.
Hi Mike, I wanted to clarify that I am trying to replace both FUEL PUMP and FUEL FILTER at the same time to ensure whatever fuel I put in goes through a NEW FUEL FILTER. Any assistance you can provide is very much appreciated. Thank you very much for your assistance!
I'm assuming the actual fuel pump on the other side is about same kind of procedure right?
Thanks for the informative video
do you have to also disconnect the auxiliary battery? I have an S63 and my auxiliary is the large battery and I think it supplies most electronics in the car. thanks
Did you buy your replacement from Mercedes or after market? If so what part number?
Could you do the fuel pump?
Nice vid. Probably the same steps for my w207. I was wondering if you did anything to relieve fuel pressure before disconnecting this? Also how did you know you needed to change this part instead of the fuel pump on the other side?
From what I remember...if you put the key in the second position and leave it for a minute or 2 before starting it the system will start to prime itself.
@@mikeicee True thanks. I am thinking of changing the pump on the passenger side first as I heard this was the actual fuel pump and most likely to go bad. Is this true in your experience and what prompted you to change the filter? Also any reason why you did not use the tubing that came with the new fuel pump?
Hey - what made you change out the filter? Was it giving you any issues or error codes?
No error codes, it was overdue. It should be changed every 150K miles or 15 years. My friend with a C300 went until it plugged up and he had to get a new filter and fuel pump.
@@mikeicee ok, got me thinking now. Mines a 2010 with 54K on it. I guess I will wait 4 more years to do it. Has it improved your gas mileage or performance at all? Thanks man!
@@pb39374 Its really about the same, nothing really noticeable. The biggest MPG change was switching from the factory staggered AMG 18s to factory 17s gave me 1-2 extra MPG.
@@mikeicee thanks Mike. I’ll just wait another 4 years until I hit the 15yr mark
Do you have to prime the line after putting the battery back on?
You can do that by putting the key on the second position right before start and waiting 1-2 minutes before starting.
hey wassup bro, how’s the reliability of these cars? i was thinking about getting a 2012 e350 with 120k miles and im not sure what to look out for. i like to work on my own cars but im use to bmw’s lol
Depending on the state these cars have a pretty good 15 year/ 150K warranty by serval states if Benz registered it as "PZEV." Its been really good so far! Common things on Benz motor mounts, eventually shocks/struts, blower motor... some bulbs. Overall a pretty good car!
@@mikeicee that sounds great, i’m use to hearing gaskets, coolant system, repairing hoses, and jobs like that because of the bmws. i feel good about this. thank you for your time and response
I have a 2012 E350 W212 M276 I purchased with 105k miles in 2015. I've replaced the motor mounts, struts, evap filter and gas cap, egr, coolant hose, and plugs. Really, no other issues. Now it has 207k miles and running like new. I'd buy it all over again. Best car I've ever owned!!
@@mikeicee RE: PZEV ruclips.net/video/20OGpydcqeQ/видео.html (start @ 6 min.) Nicoya Automotive. California location. The fuel pump was not serviceable and a whole brand new gas tank needed to be purchased. "PZEV" = increased parts and labor costs!
@@thomashargraves8947 that’s great man! glad you’re having a good experience. i ended up purchasing a 6th gen camaro ss. i got a great deal on it and i couldn’t pass it up lol
Where did you order the parts from?
FCP Euro has it
Liked and subscribed.. how do you take the hoses out ? I’m having hard time taking them out of the filter
Thank you so much for this, this exact repair procedure and part covers the 2011 GLK series as well. This is also a recall repair issue that Mercedes didn't extend to all VINs for that model and others.
Tip, little plastic cup container next to negative post of battery is to place negative terminal so it cannot touch battery and energizing circuits.
Anyone in the chat know anyone who fix MB please let me know. I live in Union County
Do you know where the right headlight fuse is located on the Mercedes Benz E 350 2010?
look in the trunk fuse panel for a paper flier with all the fuses and locations
Hi Mike. How do you remove the clip to hold fuel line ? It's really hard to push it and disconnect the fuel line.
What is the odometer reading?
Would this procedure be similar to the W204? I have a 2009 C350.
Well done sir 🔥
Thank you! I always enjoy your videos!
So weird my fuel filter and fuel pump are opposite sides of seat. Got confused yesterday thinking I have the wrong part but it was the fuel pump.
4:02 I almost died of. laugh:D
I thought it might be hard to fish out.
@@mikeicee i understand I would felt the same if that happens to me:D
Lol shop was trying to charge me 600 dollars for this lmao took me 30 minutes awesome video did you change fuel pump as well???
Can u tell us we're to buy it
Great video! Did you have to move the fuel pump over to have extra space to be able to pull on the connectors while connecting them? I’m assuming it had all that extra length in there
For what year
Im trying to find fuel pump but it is not on the right hand side...Just that filter.
Great video guys with a lot of tips!! I got an issue with my E class 220cdi 2011. Engine turns off to quarter of level fuel, and when I fill the tank again needel goes up just fine and goes down while you consume it. In this case which may be the problem the Level sender or the Fuel pump?
Do you have to reprogram the vehicle after installing the filter .. Cause might started and then cut off. I tried it a couple of time as does the same thing. ??
I just replaced mines and the car didn’t start. Luckily my buddy came and helped. So when you put the pressure gauge on the bottom on the fuel filter make sure it’s properly put in. Make sure the gasket seal is on the gauge then place it in the bottom hole of the fuel filter. You should hear a pop noise letting you know it’s properly sealed. I used the original sensor and pressure gauge and swapped it onto the new filter and didn’t put the gauge on properly which is why it didn’t start. Just recheck it and hopefully it starts up.
@@michaelmcdowell1573 mine* I replaced mine*
So, what happens if those bolts are spinning with the nut? Just two of them seem to have failed. Does the entire tank need to be replaced now or can the bolts be accessed from this access panel?
anyone have issues with fuel gauge after changing the fuel filter ?
Thank you very much for this very detailed video and instructions. I am indebted to you for saving my family money that we cannot afford to lose during these difficult circumstances. God Bless You!
Hi Mike: I have been advised that my 2014 E350 : W212 : M276 : 3.5L V6 Engine has its fuel pump “in the fuel tank” which they say has to be removed and replaced. Based on your video, this is not required. I am going to purchase the replacement parts your have listed. Can you please help clarify if what these local mechanics are trying telling me. Perhaps they’re just trying to make money off me, but unfortunately I do not have the kind of money they are expecting since I just inherited this 2014 E350 from my uncle. I cannot afford to buy such a car, and I am trying to perform most of the maintenance and repair work myself through the helpful videos you and others post on RUclips. Thank you very much!
You have to check which system your E350 uses... Some will use the system in my car that has a fuel pump that is completely submerged and others use a system where the fuel pump is held on just like the fuel filter.
Ohh and are you rolling down the windows to reduce the fumes? Cuz at first im like what?? Cuz I know mercedes so.etimes need some wierd stuff the w211 pre face lift u had to open and shut the door and wait for the co.puter to shut down to do the breaks
Yes lower fumes and god forbid a fire you can scramble out better. LMAO
🤔🚬 I'm thinking should I do mine
Just clean around unit best you can .
As a mechanic I can tell you more crap gets in to the tank via the filler than you will put in there .
I can tell you after 270K miles its really clean in the tank.
I did the same in my c300 but the engine light is still on
I assume people watching this ha e this car lol....I thought the filter and pump were together glad I didn't order...idk what can be wrong with mine..I have changed the maf the spark plugs intake manifold and the flapper thing ..it still hesitates AND at about 2000 remit starts stuttering and bucking hard ..I. sure there is engine damage as it has been doing it for 2 years and only getting worse
Does the CEL come on? Maybe a quality scanner can check out whats going on if the CEL is not on.
Did you ever figure it out? I have a 2011 with 150K miles. My car fluctuates/surges while going 30-50mph. RPM shows fluctuating 100-200rpms. Starting with inj cleaner. No codes on engine... Will check vacuum hoses... not sure where next.
im so lost on what to buy now !! and cand find it online but this does not look like my fuel filter ..also the one that resebles this most is on the passengers side but my plug isnt in the middle it sits across the filter
You can always check with the dealer or pelican parts.
What's the reason why it would snap off
Would the filter in a 2012 E350 4matic be located in same spot?
Ues
Great video well done!
Mike Icee what year was this e class
Yes because I’m looking for 2007 advice
What symptoms where you having
I'll tell you when you fill up the tank it's going to start smelling like gas in the back sits cause usually the check engine come one cause it has a crack
I have an S600. Even though the video was about a different model it was helpful.
How can I drain the fuel?
LOL if the car is drivable you simply drive it.
@@mikeicee With these gas prices hell nah
Is there 1 or 2 fuel filters have been there is 1 on each side.
I will be paying a mechanic to do
👋SIR VERY NICE EXPLANATION AND INFORMATION, BLESSINGS
Thanks and welcome I'm glad you liked it.
The sealing ring and pressure ring are the same?
no, one is a huge o ring and the other that plastic ring. I personally reused and had no issue lol. Its best follow MB advice.
