Once you are in Iceland, you notice that lots of other spa places have been opened and they would probably love to pick up the trade that the Blue Lagoon has.... but they don't have glitzy shops on the high street in Reykjavik, and Blue Lagoon seems to be the default one to book if you fix up your holiday with a tour company. So unless you follow this news closely, you are just going to find the tour company booking Blue Lagoon for you as part of your "specially tailored trip".

    • @freyalarsen6233
      @freyalarsen6233 3 месяца назад

The other places don't have the silica mud. I don't understand your point about Reykjavik. There is not any "high street". Do you mean Austurstræti? But there is nothing glitzy on that street. What does it have to do with the Blue Lagoon? Reykjavik has its own geothermal pool - much older than the "new" Blue Lagoon. (btw., the old Blue Lagoon just next to the power plant was free of charge to use. They collected some money for using the lockers, but if a simple changing shed was enough for you, it was for free.
Blue Lagoon is and always has been important for the transiting passengers, it takes only 15-20 minutes to get there from the Keflavik airport, while it takes 1 hour to get to Reykjavik.

I don't believe nature can be trusted to cooperate with the Blue Lagoon. 🤔 Nature is in charge above people's opinions and has a way of surprising us in any part of our world.
I would NEVER go to the Blue Lagoon. I hate touristy places. I'd prefer to go to a Natural Spring with no modern buildings around.

Not so much stupid as having "information tunnel vision". What I mean most people tend to only notice and get information that directly affects them. So they may know about a local sale at the supermarket, whatever the main scandals making the headlines nationally, family concerns, etc. They won't be aware of what isn't a national headline news like a volcanic eruption in another country. So they will book a vacation without really thinking about it. Most would assume that if a volcano was erupting nearby posing any possible slight threat at all a place wouldn't be open for business.

They have to comply, but somehow The Blue Lagoon excempt?
If I were someone, who unknowingly stayed there, whose money, she kept, whole there is danger & had to Emergency Evacuate, I would sue. If a contract is in place, to go at your own risk, that's possibly arguable in Court, because of lack of obvious Information on their Site.
Let's face it, they have a monopoly in that area.

I don’t think that the Blue Lagoon being open is funny at all. The operators need to be called out. It’s possible that the Blue Lagoon’s short term money grubbing may hurt them in the long term.
The eruption that started on May 29th is a big deal because it was unlike the previous events. It was enormously more violent. The amount of lava it expelled so quickly was daunting. And the huge explosions when the magma was in contact with the water table is more than worrisome.
I see the Blue Lagoon as the Titanic-sailing along, ignoring warnings and realities, and destined to hit a proverbial volcanic iceberg.
If a volcanic eruption occurs and it hurts or kills guests and staff at the Blue Lagoon-the owners should be thrown into the caldera of the next volcano.
Shame on the Icelandic government for allowing the Blue Lagoon to operate during major eruptions 3 miles away.
Mother Nature is just waiting for the opportunity to shut the resort down-and at that point the price to stay open may be paid for in needlessly lost lives.

This is bringing the country into disrepute - is there no National Safety Executive ? Nature is seriously impeding BL plans to float the company on the Stock Exchange - are they trying to reassure potential investors by keeping open in the face of incredible danger to guests and staff ?
I went in its early days (fell for hype as many do) - there are numerous nicer but less known places to go which are natural and authentic rather than power plant overspill in an artificial pool.

You saw a lot of beautiful things in Iceland he did not go to the Blue lagoon but however they were calling him or texting him I can't remember what he said to see if you would want to come there and stay the night for the day whatever it was. They must be really desperate for money if they're calling a people that have other plans there to come and stay at their facility. You're still having eruption in the Fisher so why are they reopening when the wind can change directions at any time and blow that smoke in gas towards the Blue lagoon. That makes me not to want to ever go there.

Iceland put stop signs on the hot lava. Tourists have the right of way.

Greedy I would say...and...what are they hiding. In my opinion I think is the only reason they would want to keep Blue Lagoon open.....seriously why?

Silki…..sigh. Of course. Are there other comparable resorts anywhere? I know they advertise its uniqueness but do we know the chemical composition of the water? I still want to know the families involved including the ones doing the advertising, banking and suppliers….names and networks not hiding behind corporate identities…..any genealogists reading?

I guess dead tourists don't talk- but their family will. Stupidity is not only found in the Pozzuli/ Naples area it seems.

But they will build a new blue lagoon in a safer spot. I hope.🇮🇸❤

For my opinion, they will Do the same on and on again, als long as it works. But I think, some day, something Bad will happen at the blue lagoon. The blue lagoon does not only hide something if they do not mention the gas on their side, in case for safety, they just ahm- lying "the blue from the sky". I am wondering if we will hear about an incident, if something will happen.

They don’t give refunds so they’re going to keep opening and collecting that money whether they have to constantly shut down or not.

I think they should build a 16 -18 m defense wall about 500m radius around the Blue Lagoon. That way the lagoonies could look out upon lava rocks, be encircled to beat off Indian attack, and rename the site 'White island revisited" so that everyone knows what's going on. Or perhaps Iceland's leaders could offer the vacant houses at Grindavick to anxious Italians from Naples way? 😅🤣😂🤠 And yes, I do agree with Rudi.

I think the whole of Iceland depends on the cash that the blue lagoon brings in. If there was no blue lagoon this would not be such a problem. Money is more important then lives. What a shame. Thank you silki. 😊😊😊
