Tuomas Holopainen, our metal Mozart, can only write and compose this kind of beautiful music. He writes parts to every member what they do. And did you notice Emppu Vuorinen played in his guitar solo Metallica's riff Enter Sandman. But Tuomas is our modern day metal Mozart. He is so humble and nice gentle person in real life. @@Xtreme4Life if you listen carefully, enter sandman was only a part of an evolution of music including classical, tribal, and at the end electronic music amongst others in between. It's one of my absolute favorite songs of theirs.

The soundtrack to the history of Earth and mankind. Many will suggest that you should have done the Tampere version. Both are great. I love the e-bow Troy uses here and of course having Mr. Dawkins in person makes it special. Tampere is also worth a watch. Keep exploring Nightwish.

I was there that night - my first experience of Nightwish. I had never heard of them before. They made an impression.
The title of the issue is taken from a 2009 book by evolutionary biologist and atheist writer Richard Dawkins, about the evidence for biological evolution. Dawkins also contributes to the album. Holopainen explained to HMV in March 2015: "I wrote him a letter a little over a year ago and explained what ideas we had for this album, mainly about evolution. Since one of the songs goes straight to one of his books, it felt like a perfect match to try and recite him on the album. A few weeks later, he sent me an email accepting the invitation."
"Later in 2014, we recorded his parts at Hats Off Studios, Oxford. This is a huge honour for us, as Dawkins is one of our greatest heroes and his writings have been a huge inspiration for the album."

🇫🇮❤To fully appreciate this masterpiece about the birth of the universe, the Earth, evolution of life and mankind, just google: Why Nightwish’s “The Greatest Show on Earth” is also one of the greatest songs by Katia Karpenko. Moreover, the Tampere 2015 version is even better with fireworks & pyrotechnics, but without Richard Dawkins. Finally, the album version is even longer & it took 2½ weeks to mix in the studio because 800+ separate audio tracks had to be mixed together.
P.S. If you're alive, you're truly lucky as the probability of a person being born just as s/he is, is less than 1 divided by the number of atoms in the entire universe.
Without Richard Dawkins being there live at the end. i like this one, but Tampere is so spectaculair, unbelieveble, for me Tampere

You should really go to a Nightwish concert, because that's a completely different level than a live video. If a video inspires you so much, then you will really freak out at a live concert. I really liked your reaction and I'm sure you've watched the video at least once again by now. From me there is definitely a subscription and a thumbs up.

The thing about Marco is that he meshed perfectly with 3 NW singer. That says a lot about him...Troy does some back up, and is a good singer (see My Walden and The Carpenter) but Floor also sings some of the Marco parts now.

This version was exceedingly good because you have Troy playing a different instrument and because Dawkins was actually there. HOWEVER, you need to watch the version in Tampere - it's outdoors and the special FX are unreal.
Is song is about evolution, so Empuu did the Enter Sandman riff at the end of a progression starting with Gregorian Chants on guitar
Love you dog guys and Welcome back!. Also Troy the British member who plays winds instruments, whistles and Irish bagpipes, and backup vocals and guitar uses this device called an E-Bow which has these magnets that vibrate the guitar strings creating this violin sound. Thank you

Great reaction to the best version of this masterpiece. The Tampere recording is amazing but just having renowned evolutionary biologist and outspoken Atheist Richard Dawkins on stage quoting his own work and the works of Charles Darwin was so special. I was there and WE WERE HERE 🐺❤️
Dawkins isn't just outspoken, he's downright arrogant and objectionable Stuart, and on a lot of subjects. The one thing I've never understood about Thomas Holopainen, who seems to be a decent and likeable bloke (I'll set aside the Tarja and Anette stuff, there are different interpretations of what happened in each case) is why he has any truck with him. I can only assume that he simply doesn't know some of the things Dawkins has said.

This song about pre human history, the big bang, humanitys time, and eventual disappearance...the last monolog from Richard Dawkins is the last paragraph of Origin of the Species, the only time in it that any incarnation of the word "evolution" is mentioned
I always year up towards the end. Dawkins coming on bringing his so poetic but also so harsh a monologue is amazing. We were here…!

Troy is using an E bow, as in violin. Troy sings well also as well as another 4 or 5 instruments.
The new base player doesn't sing, but Troy (back right on stage) still does and takes Marco's parts now. There is only one Marc of course, but Troy does a good job.

What I mean is have you ever seen or listened to "THE WARNING"?? 3 Sister's from Mexico who absolutely rock, in English... Floor takes on most of Marcos parts with support from Troy. He has had to push his voice to be harder & they manage it pretty well.
We will always miss Marko, but the music & lyrics themselves still slap just fine. :)
New bass player did a bit of backup in his last band, but he said he could never replace Marko, and is not an experienced singer, so prefers not to.
You should lookup the Easter eggs and info contained within the song. It's pretty incredible. You caught the end of the mini history of music with the Metallica guitar riff. :)

You're so nice but a lot of annoying talk over the lyrics and the music (even over the speech parts of Richard Dawkins), especially from the women's side of the couch. You didn't seem to pay much attention to what the song was about, even though you had subtitles: The birth of the stars, the birth of the planets, the birth of Earth, the birth of life, the birth of animals and the birth of man, the development of man and technology, environmental pollution, wars, etc, etc... and finally the destruction of man. Well, maybe you figured it out the next time you watched it, or the one after that. Anyway, I love how excited you both are. More Nightwish please.

When I saw and heard Nightwish 2013 in Wacken for the first time, I was completely overwhelmed. If someone had asked me afterwards what the lyrics meant, I would not have been able to give him an answer. You should know that - first you feel the songs of Nightwish and only the second or third time you are able to pay attention to the lyrics.

It didn't bother me that they didn't know what the lyrics meant. Very few know unless they have read the lyrics beforehand.
