Long time viewer, always enjoy your podcasts and your projects. Blessings to your family after such a dreadful experience, as knitters we are fortunate to have the yarn through our fingers during stressful times.
I first want to say my prayers are for you and your family. I understand what it's like to take care of a loved one..May God bring a healing on her leg..and send spirit of peace to her mind. All your knitting is beautiful..I live in Boston so we are neighbors..thank goodness for knitting take care..I really enjoy your podcasts..take care. Marblehead is beautiful place..
Loved hearing about the plying with the lace cone! I've never done that or thought about that. I've been told you can even ply with sewing thread etc... WOW! Isn't the fiber world so cool with so much to learn!
Oh my gosh, Lisa, you have had a time of it! Let's hope that this year is going to be smooth(er) times for you and your family! Your knitting projects are fabulous and I love your spinning 😍 I'm going to start spinning for socks again this month. It was great to see you again!
Hi Lisa, I know how scary must have been. My mom had several serious falls, the same hospital and rehab. It’s very stressful and that stress last for a long time. I’m glad you are crafting doing things that you like. Last year when my husband and I went to Rhinebeck we drove to Saratoga and spent a couple of day. It’s beautiful, great restaurants and coffee shops.
I so enjoy you and the history that you share. You are one of my first podcasts and I have watched every one. I have learned so much to add to my knitting knowledge. I did see your sweaters at Rhinebeck (On Instragram) this year and want you to know that I knitted the same one because of your sharing with us. It was my first sweater and I am starting to knit more for myself as I age up in Retirement. Thank you! My Sone and his wife live in NJ transplanted from Massachusetts. They know your town and get a kick out of my description of the area from knitting point of view.
Aww Thank you Lisa. I’m thrilled you loved the Wolf moon mitts pattern. Yours are lovely in the nutiedan yarn 😍 Thank you for sharing them and talking about my other patterns too. Yes I’m back dyeing yarn again and it’s available from 10th February and fibre in March fingers crossed. Sending love across the pond xxxx
Lisa, good to have you podcasting, but so sorry to hear about your Covid and the accident. Goodness, you’re a trooper. I hope things settle now including your job situation. May a new employee appear and be a knitter too! Eileen 🤞
So good to catch up with all that you’re doing. I agree with you on brioche😮. I just can’t wrap my brain around it. I love the recipe swap Mark discovered. My husband loved cooking. Sending positive thoughts for your mother in law. Do take care of yourself too.
I'm so happy I just found your podcast. I'm from Danvers, MA, your neighbor. I am so excited to be able to watch your progress on WIP's, and see your FO's. I love the vest you were wearing. Your colors are beautiful. I'm sorry to hear about your mother-in-law and am glad to hear she is finally almost healed. Well, I will be watching all your podcasts from now on.
Hi Diane! We certainly are neighbors!!! And thanks for your kind words - my MIL is definitely on the mend and I hope to never experience something like this again….
Lisa, beautiful projects, as always. Especially your Agnes sweater, it looks fabulous! I am so sorry about all the challenges your family had to face. How scary about your MIL, she was so lucky to have you there, and I am happy she's healing now. Love to uou all! 💕
Thanks Lucy. It has been quite an ordeal…. But thankfully she is healing well. Thank you also for the lovely Christmas card! A Rhinebeck meeting will definitely be happening again!
I was so happy to see a new podcast from you. Your Agnes sweater is gorgeous, and I wondered if you thought burgundy would be a good choice instead of brown. The pattern is in my favorites on Ravelry. Healing thoughts to you and your family.
Oh Lisa! I’m so sorry for what your in-laws went through. Thank goodness you were there. Glad to hear that she’s doing better. Understaffing sucks. Sorry you’re dealing with that too. Your knitting and spinning are beautiful. I really enjoy seeing them. Thanks for sharing it with us. ❤️
I so hope that your MIL is feeling herself again soon. That sounded just horrific. What a time you've had. I had Covid this past summer and ended up with a metallic taste is my mouth when I ate some foods, or even brushed my teeth, and it is only now going away. It's awful isn't it. And I didn't take paxlovid. Hopefully your whole family will soon be up and about and healthy. take care.
Lovely to see you again Lisa and sorry to hear of your mother-in-laws accident, but so glad she is recovering. I too have had a difficult time since October when i lost my husband. He was only in his mid sixties as i am and so our retirement plans will not happen as we had hoped. He was diagnozed with Myeloma, cancer of the bone marrow ten years ago and while he had treatment there is no cure. So knitting has been my solace and watching podcasts feels like i have knitting friends around the globe. LIfe is a big test but luckely i have two amazing children and grandchildren to keep me going. Love your Agnes sweater it is beautiful, take care Lisa and love from my home to yours x
I very much enjoyed watching this episode. I am so sorry to hear about your family’s illness and the accident and send physical and emotional healing wishes to all of you. As you said, thankfully, you were there and could be available to help. I love looking at your home, and when my husband pops by while I am watching, he comments on the woodwork, rim door locks, etc. We had an old farmhouse that was built in 1835 or 1838, there was never a definitive year; land use and tax records varied, that we absolutely loved. This morning, we were musing - wishing we could get that old house in place of the newer home, built in 1997. I am looking forward to the next episode and look forward to hearing your story through the Q&A session. Be well, and happy knitting!❤
Oh Lisa, what a terrible ordeal. I'm so glad that your mother-in-law is doing better and that you were there to help her when the accident happens. Don't forget to take time for yourself to heal from this scary experience. So nice to have you back podcasting. Take Care!
Hi Lisa! Sorry for all you’ve gone through these last several months. Can’t wait to tell you what a hit the Christmas water bottle covers were… You probably know, I didn’t, that the water bottles now come in lots of colors …such fun picking out everyone’s favorite color.. Thanks so much for the suggestion.
Oh my gosh Priscilla! Those hot water bottles were a hit here too - we have been using ours in a pretty regular basis! Glad it was a hit in your neck of the woods! And yes, I did not know there were colors until I got my first package of them. My SIL joined Kate Davies color club this fall and she was tickled because the first pattern in the collection was for a hot water bottle cover😄😄. We are right on trend!
Hi Lisa: Your Agnes sweater is uber stunning! I love to knit one but I don’t have the skills to work more than two colors simultaneously. I hope your mother-in-law makes a complete recovery and fully recover from everything. It takes a long time to come to accept the not so good looking injury site. I had a life-changing accident and had to deal with having screws and plates put in on Christmas Eve a few years ago. Non-weight bearing ordeal for two months! Excruciating pain and dealing with crutches up and down the stairs. Troubling getting in and out of the car for therapy! Luckily, I had my knitting to help keep me grounded while being bed ridden! Thanks for sharing! Wishing you all an awesome and blessed New 2023! ❤
Hi May, thanks for your kind words. Accidents are so traumatic at any age. My MIL will definitely have trouble accepting how her leg will look, but I am so glad the healing is progressing. And you should take another look at the Agnes - there are only two colors in any row, so it wasn’t too hard to manage - using sport weight yarn also helped!
@@llessard Thanks so much for the heads up. I knitted two color work yoke sweaters last year. Unfortunately, I don’t know how to modify pattern. I find that there is too much fabric in the underarm area as a result of accommodating (completing yoke design). Don’t know if I would encounter the same problem with the Agnes sweater. Knitters who are more experienced know how to modify this issue. I am a beginner sweater knitter and don’t know how to overcome the problem. Thank you for your words of encouragement!
Love the Agnes sweater and the colors you chose. Sorry your mother in law got hurt but so glad you're there for her. 🌻 And good for you that you make sure to find some YOU time to knit or spin and not let work run you over. Hope things mellow out soon.
Hi Nancy! I am excited about the epic project! I don’t really have the time to join one of Patricia’s kofta classes, so this will be the perfect speed for me! See you there!
Some lovely items. What a tale about your in- laws and the challenges your mother- in- law has faced. It’s great to be able to support family members and to have knitting and spinning to nourish your spirit.
So happy to see another episode from you today! That sweater - it’s so gorgeous! Sorry to hear about your mother-in-law’s accident and I’m glad that she’s on the mend. Take care and I’m sending good thoughts for a joyous 2023 ❤.
This was so lovely. I can’t tell you how much I love historic homes. Your home is gorgeous and I’m sure that it is fortunate to have you be it’s keeper. I love that you enjoy your knits…loving even the imperfections. This is a hobby for me, so I must remember to love my “personalizations”, not mistakes.💗
Thank you Sarah - we definitely feel lucky to be able to live here in the fantastic (if tiny) old house! And YES! Definitely learn to love your knitting imperfections%!
Your Agnes sweater is absolutely gorgeous! I've just added the pattern to my queue. I'll have to hop onto Knit Picks to checkout the yarn and color options. Thanks for sharing. What a time you've had of it lately... thank goodness for knitting therapy. Your in-laws are fortunate to have you. Question: How do you manage your yarn and project storage? Always curious about storage solutions...especially since I also live in a small home (which I think is smaller than yours).
Hi from your FAO friend. Our new Assoc. Director started and she has been a ray of hope and sunshine. Only down one position and tons of new State programs starting that are very laborious. I put the Agnew sweater in my favorites. I am knitting the Craghill Shawl which has a section with the same pattern as your cowl. It’s OK, but I’d rather be knitting a sweater. My husband broke his knee years ago in a car accident and has had numerous issues with his leg due to poor circulation below the knee. We have visited wound care specialists too many times. He often wraps his shin with horse wrap (cheaper than people wrap) to keep it protected and keep whatever bandages he needs in place. Best wishes.
I will have to look into the horse wrap - have never heard of that as a possibility! I could sure use a ray of hope some time soon…. We are finishing up the Banner setup for admitted students award letters…. Can’t even imagine what next years setup will be if the FAFSA simplification goes through…. Did you see the the DOE won’t confirm that FAFSA’s will be available by Oct 1 for next academic year?.
I just discovered your podcast. I see you are Saratogaknitting, are you from Saratoga, NY originally ? I've found it hard to find knitting podcasters from NY or even that many from the US. I enjoyed your podcast very much.
Long time viewer, always enjoy your podcasts and your projects. Blessings to your family after such a dreadful experience, as knitters we are fortunate to have the yarn through our fingers during stressful times.
I made the Roosty vest and love love love it, the blue is stunning. You will love it.
Sending best wishes to you and your family. Stay cam and carry on. And most importantly keep knitting and spinning. 😊

What a wonderful daughter-in-law you are. Having visited the Boston area a couple of times, you have a beautiful place in which to live.
Hi Lisa. You have quite a few projects and they are all gorgeous!!
You are so good to your in-laws.

I’m glad you’re joining the “ epic” project, the ull pledd with Patricia. Your background yarn will be beautiful. See you on Zoom!

Hi Rosemary! I am indeed originally from Saratoga, NY! I was born and raised there and also lived there again from 2003 - 2015.
