Love it. Growing up around castles I loved anything to do with them. I'd always build them out of Lego. It's actually given me an idea. I might try and build the original Nottingham castle. Unfortunately, the majority of it is a palace these day's. The original was torn down in the civil war. Although the castle walls and gate house is still original. 🙌
@@Mrs.MikeyJProductions I'll let you know how I get on with it. I'm in town tomorrow so I'll call in at the palace museum and get a proper picture of the original castle. I can start planning it then.👍
I appreciate you showing an alternative way of adding this Castle to your LEGO collection. The market has dramatically changed in the past couple of years with some of these vintage Castle sets, making them "appear" to be uncollectible because of the pricetag. I mainly collect vintage LEGO. While this Castle is _very_ expensive, it isn't as "rare" or uncommon as some might think. I try to limit my spending to only bulk lots of LEGO, which are hit or miss. This Castle pops up pretty often in bulk lots. I've picked up three copies of this set. Those yellow Tudor wall pieces are an easy giveaway you have either this set or Black Falcon's Fortress, which has to be one of the most common sets I've picked up (I own 6 copies of that set). IMO both sets are definitely not worth what people are willing to spend on them (since they are both common sets), but you what you want with your money.
@@MikeyJProductions I've been almost exclusively collecting bulk lots for about two decades. It has it's ups and downs, but for the most part I've been able to find rarer sets for years. In an ideal world (of course) it would be nice to have the original boxes, but I've found they don't matter in the grand scheme of things. Congrats on getting older sets in lots! I'd recommend that method above all others because you never know what treasures could be hidden in a lot.
Wow, you have a great collection. Bulk LEGO is a tough business, but can have great rewards 😊 Thanks so much for your comments. It is definitely a process, but I really enjoy having these vintage sets.
@@MikeyJProductions You'd be really surprised at the variety of sets that can come out of bulk lots. I haven't seen too many Skull's Eye Schooners recently, but I haven't been too diligent searching cause I've got at least 4 lots I need to sort and inventory. I'm convinced certain sets deemed "rare" really aren't. One of those is set 6079 Dark Forest Fortress, which I own 4 copies. So, really, anything is possible! If you consistently look, you could definitely find a Skull's Eye Schooner in a lot.
I totally love the fact that you modified this to be a Black Falcon's castle. The Black Falcons were awesome, but got the shaft in the early nineties. Do you have white flags to use instead of yellow ones?
2:14 once you see the face in the windows and portcullis of the gate tower you can’t un-see it
Great review Mikey nice set have a great week
Thanks Nate 🔵
Thanks for watching!
This is my most wanted castle right now.
It a GREAT one!!
It is tough to use those old instructions, but so worth it in the end 😊
Very nice review Mikey and great addition to your collection!
Thank you!
It really is!

That would be a great castle! If you build it we would love to see it!

Great comment!! We are actually adding MORE vintage sets to our collection via this method.

@@LAQuadling We have never gotten into the bulk buys before, but maybe we should, lol. I'd love to find Skull Eyes Schooner in a lot, that's for sure.

No, I do not have enough white flags. I went with the blue and yellow because a Black Falcon minifig came with those in the new castle set.
Thanks so much! I love having it in our collection!
