@@michaelpdawson I have now listened to the entire LP, one of the most beautiful I have heard as far as English. improv musics go. I think Jon Anderson even quit school to be a milkman and help support the family. He also happens to have a great creative imagination. That's not pretention, that's living. People who claim prog is pretentious generally don't have a clue about that music one way or another

Hi Michael, your description of the John Stevens album has made me put it on my wish list. I was always a bit wary of his albums until I managed to pick up a couple of Away albums and his Turning point album all of which I really enjoy. Big fan of Peter Frohmader's music - have a lot of his stuff but that one only on CD - I'm envious!

Hi Pete! Fortunately I grabbed a lot of Peter Frohmader’s albums when they were available through Wayside Music in the ‘80s. They then released Macrocosm on Cuneiform, which may be my favorite of all of them, but it is CD only.

More has always been a favorite album of mine…love that “pastoral” era of Pink Floyd.

Did you see Mazzy Michael. I really enjoyed the samples btw. Stevens, free mass with a hint of structure. Still not sure I could do it. I really liked the sounds on the last album Michael, nice flute with some brass

Yes, I got to meet Mazzy in person! I wouldn’t try to change your mind about free jazz…that way there’s more for me!

I just showed that Oregon album behind your right shoulder. I really dig their sound. Towner, McCandless, Glen Moore, and Walcott. I mean seriously. That is some talent packed in the grooves. I always wondered who the sixth photo was on the back of Close To The Edge. Of course. It is Eddie Offord. Nice one there Mike. Definitely checking out Office Chairs. Digging it. Is that Hubert Laws album a brand new reissue? I am going to check out the Monkees cover. Fantastic update once again M. You never and I mean never disappoint~

Hi Rob! The Oregon album was out because I've been doing the thing on Facebook where you have to show 20 albums that affected your taste in music. (Rob Ison made me do it.) Towards the end I was meaning to show an album that got me into the ECM sound/scene, and I ended up deciding that Distant Hills really set me up for that even though it is before ECM. The Hubert Laws is a '70s pressing, but still in VERY shiny condition. Thanks for watching!

Outstanding finds at the swap Michael. Two that rarely pop up anywhere. Mazzy had quite a crew out for the fair.

Hey Michael, Cosmic elves can be milkmen too... 🙂Wow, John Stevens! Fascinating group, yes...not free jazz in the usual sense. Need to hear more of that Peter F. "Extraneous digits without artificial intelligence" would be a neat title. Am a sucker for CTI here. Thanks for sharing as always. -Carm

I am the Eggman. Great to see the John Stevens album. He started a whole new ''School'' of music at the Little Theatre Club in London. I love his Incus recording, '' Playing'' a duo with Derek Bailey. The cover art done by John Stevens ''fits'' the music, oh so puurfectlee!
