Fascism is a form of Socialism using the definition that Socialism is the public control of the means of production. To progressives, there seems to be a world view that the only legitimate form of government is socialism, and the difference is who is in control. If they are not in control, naturally to them their opponents are fascists like in 20th century Europe even though European and American political wings are different.
There is a large sector of Americans who simply don't want to live with restrictions. This is liberalism. I would say the majority of Americans are some forms of liberal and get branded by politicians in order to create coalitions and consolidate power. Modern conservatism are classical liberals and economic liberals with a religious moral view. Modern leftists are social liberals, pro-union labor and authoritarian Marxists mixed in. This dynamic has been changing since 2016.

Well, I think most of us are ok with certain progressive policies. The issue is their position in transgender issues, women in sports, immigration, cancel culture, their violent protesting, etc.

When I first came to the US, I was wondering why food was so much cheaper than in Europe (comparing exactly same items). The reason was "much cheaper energy". When you increase the cost of energy, it affects all steps, from cultivation to distribution. With energy cost going up, expect continuously higher food prices.
And taxes. Food isn't taxed here, either. I'm thinkin about the value added tax. Isn't that the tax that gets paid by consumers for each step of production?

I'm a nurse entrepreneur and activist and democrats are in my way of bringing affordable healthcare any person can afford out of an average paycheck. Government can't pay for universal healthcare. As we don't have natural consequences and pay for bad choices I can't teach prevention. People lose personal agency and ambition and I fail. I was a democrat 33 years and left policies are because of my activism. I failed and it's wrong. The non profits my dad helped run failed. We are now supporting conservative policies and I'm working with Republicans successfully. I'm so encouraged to bring affordable healthcare through Trump!
