For those of you asking about how I get the drum-less play-alongs, I made them myself by transcribing the notes and chords, learning to play that on electric guitar, recording it, and filling in the rest(bass, synth sounds) with virtual software instruments in my DAW. Thank you all for watching and commenting :)
Wei Lung Wong JESUS, man! The amount of talent and hard work it takes to do all that is mind boggling! On behalf of everyone you've helped with these videos, I thank you from the bottom of my heart for all these insanely helpful lessons. Keep doing what you do, my friend!
Hey sorry for my uber late reply, I somehow missed your amazing comment. Thank you for recognizing all the effort that goes into these videos, that alone is worth so much more than watching and sharing this video or subscribing. It's priceless :)
They certainly aren't cake though, I worked on this groove for 2 months to get it as clean as possible and I still had to quantize it a little while recording this video. Thank you for your compliments though, appreciate it!
@@ArtOfDrummingHQ I will play the whole song 😅 I have to work on it but I think your videos will help me thx I already can play about 50% of the song and the part I have the most difficulties is the A2 with the opening hi hat Wich part will you explain next Thursday?
@@BalthazarMaignan Oh yes, that part is the most difficult for me too and took me the longest time. I'm doing the part just before that. But the next part will be that part so I'll see if I can come up with some magic and get those two parts out in 3 weeks.
Saw your cover, you wouldn't need help man and it's great to see young drummers doing so well, when you get to my age, I can't imagine the stuff that you'll be able to pull off with your drumming.
Can you do a video explaining the Ectogenesis chorus? I can't seem to figure out what rythm Matt is playing on the hi-hat.. I'm getting that 5/4 sixteenths feel but I'm not quite sure.
I'm refraining from doing anything "Ectogenesis" related because Matt Garstka already has a full playthrough lesson he's selling on his website matt-garstka.myshopify.com/ . If I do one it'll be doing him a disservice so why don't you try purchasing that lesson? And if it's not in there let me know again and I'll do it :)
I made it myself with real and virtual instruments, I intend to keep making the rest of the song for my future videos too. But I'm not sure if I should distribute the whole thing, I'll have to see what AAL thinks haha.
I study classical guitar and classical composition but I really like AAL, so maybe some general explanation on polyrythms with examples of this band could be an idea(?) I would also be interested in a tutorial on how to transcribe complex rythms like these. I hope that makes things a little clearer, but really, it's up to you!
That's clear, that could make for some interesting lessons but I hope you understand that I only have time to take 1 request per month at most. Thanks for watching my channel though :)
I second making the content a little more clear for us non-drummers (even if we do love the drums xD). Of course, you're a busy guy and it's your channel and I'll enjoy your videos no matter what. BUT, making it a little more clear for non-drummers would be quite nice. Thanks and keep up this fantastic work Wei.
Came here and tried to learn something. Left feeling like I don’t know anything! Not the video creator’s fault, I guess I wanted a simpler answer that doesn’t exist :(

WAIT... YOU DID WHAT???????????????? HUH????? ARE YOU EVEN HUMAN????
Hey there again, this one's old, now you can just buy the drumless playa long on matt Garstka's store hahaha
dude... you are awesome! I still have no idea how you dont have a mill subscribers by now. these vids make Matt's grooves look like cake

Wei Lung Wong haha I said "look like" trust me, transcribing physical education a while back helped me learn how terrifying Matt's grooves are.
Ahhh my bad, but yes terrifying is the perfect description haha.
I enjoy everything you do! pure Genius Wei! Amazing new studio! neat and clean as your lessons:)
Thanks for sticking around, I wouldn't have this new studio without your support :)
You break things down perfectly for me. Thank you, my g!
Hey its my pleasure man!! Thank you!
I play guitar, not drums, but these videos are so interesting. Great content!
It's just not the same if you're not wearing Matt's "stankface".
2 thumbs up!!
Thanks for all your video and passion!!! Really nice job! May you explain something about CAFO song in the future?;)
You word things really well, made it easy to follow. Got my subscribe for sure!

Awesome video!!!! Subscribed for sure!!! Greetings from Brazil!!!
Omg your brain dance series is soo good! Thanks again🙏🏻
Wow thank you for checking all of them out!! It is my mission to do the entire song. But I'm still practicing some of the later sections haha.
@@ArtOfDrummingHQ yes this song is indeed really tough! 👍🏻
that breakdown is marvellous
I kneel to this guy, very talented man
Please can you do a complete tutorial on this song I would love it
Okay Will Do!
@@ArtOfDrummingHQ thank you it will be awesome I already know it
I will play this song for my drum exam in 7 weeks
@@BalthazarMaignan WOW The whole song or just the first section? I'm currently creating the next part which will be out next Thursday

thx for completely clearing my doubt! Your observation is pretty accurate!!
They're pretty worth analyzing in the first place :) Thank you for sticking around!
Thank you for your hard work! This really helps me out a lot
My pleasure, and hope it inspires you to work hard at whatever you are chasing too!
You make it look so easy!!
Oh it's still soo hard today hahaha, thanks!
TD30. Best thing I ever bought. also, great idea w the felts. I have to try that. I feel like my cymbal wing nuts like to unscrew.
The felts were just to give the set more colour :) but so far they haven't been unscrewing, try them!
Excellent explanation, didatics na exhibition! Great Work
Bro these videos are awesome, thank you. Subscribed for sure
Congrats!!!!!! good job!!
My new favourite RUclipsr :) a genius!
So cool! Good job dude! Thanks you very much for your tutorial! :p
Good to see you around Sylvain :)
I'm not a drummer by any means, but this is inspiring for sure. Thanks for the good work!
Great!
Another great lesson!
Pleasure to share Adam!
👍
amazing!! how do you get the drumless parts? keep going!!!
Amazing job friend
Recently covered this song. Feel like this would've helped ahaha. Very informative as usual
Saw your cover, you wouldn't need help man and it's great to see young drummers doing so well, when you get to my age, I can't imagine the stuff that you'll be able to pull off with your drumming.
This is a huge compliment... And people like you will continue to inspire me to practice
Can I ask how you're separating the audio from the drum tracks? I would love to be able to do the same thing to use in practice.
Awesome, dude!
Thanks Moises!
man, that was insane and extremly helpful, keep it up!
Hey, do you have any original midi loops in these styles that you could provide/sell?
Hey no I don't but look up Alastair Taylor on RUclips. He has loops like these on his youtube channel and patreon page.

Gotcha, I respect that.
Hey Wei, it would be great if you could breakdown CHON's Sleepy Tea. It's a great song, and very technical!
Amazing bro
Thanks!
Dude you're a scientist
You're channel name sud be, the science of drums
Hahaha thank you for the compliment, I do so find science super fascinating.
Congratulations on the new kit! TD30KV?
Thank you! It's a TD30K, the TD30KV was just a tad too expensive for me.
great vid!
Thanks Andrew!
Where are you getting the play along from? Are you making them yourself somehow, or is there a place I can buy it/them?
I made it myself with real and virtual instruments, I intend to keep making the rest of the song for my future videos too. But I'm not sure if I should distribute the whole thing, I'll have to see what AAL thinks haha.
congrats wei !!!
Thank you Eddy!
i love you my man
Could you record videos for non-drummers also? Congratulations for the great content!!
Thank you but what kind of content might you be interested in and what do you play?

Hahaha I wish I could do it simpler than that, when I do I'll let you know :)
Arithmophobia please
I'm afraid I only take requests from my Patreons now, as a reward for their extra support, but that's a sick track!
IS THAT A REALFORCE????
What's a REALFORCE?
your pc keyboard haha
Te amo cabron
Thank you Jose!
great!
