Hiya, I wanted a studio for first year as well but couldn't because of finances. i'm glad I went for ensuite and i got lucky with my flat mates. You can have a shared kitchen and still be lonely. So it's about finding other ways to socialise and meet people.

It’s not necessary. It helps cos you are more likely to be matched with first years with the schools accommodation, but I’m personally going for a different one.
