The thing is that Catherine still hasn't started merging with all of the other Catherines yet so there may still be a chance for Ricardo to inadvertantly save her (and funnily enough help his little thief).
According to the affirmation of the multiverse that states that every possibility is possible, and Limbussy's history is linked to all of this shenanigans. *This is cannon...*
