      Tacoma 55
      Yes, the echo of a large heavy hollow door thunking shut against a steel latch! (modern cars have teflon coated steel latches)
      Many modern cars have doors that weigh this much due to the impact beams and such, but the sheetmetal is so much thinner.
      Think of the difference between knocking on a garbage can vs a 50 gallon drum...

    In January 1979 my dad bought a used 1976 Olds 98 LS sedan like this except ours had the light blue metallic paint and white vinyl top, but the same light blue interior of this car. We had a 1971 Impala sport sedan so this car was quite a step up in luxury. As a teenager I remember how smooth, comfortable and quiet the car was and the knit cloth interior was so comfy compared to the vinyl of the Impala. I loved to wash and wax it. Unfortunately, by December of the same year the paint was flaking off the deck lid. I have seen a similar car with the same color paint on the Internet with the same problem. I never drove the car and my Dad sold it in the summer of 1982 to buy a 1981 Olds Cutlass because he said he wanted better gas mileage. Also, the car was just too big for my Mom to drive. Unfortunately, the man who bought it trashed it within a few years. This year is not considered very collectible, and it is not a coupe and not a Regency, so $12,000 is probably more the value of this car.

    MY grandmother had a car just like that way back in the 70's. The car was always clean and shiny. Even though I was just a child then, I felt it was a privilege to ride in her car. Her car was the finest car on her street. Heads would turn of out astonishment. Like I said that was back in the 70's.

      My grandmother had two Toronados, with the 455 Rocket V8, a 1972 with leather seating and a 1976 Toronado Brougham. The Toro is at the top of the Oldsmobile lineup. Toronado was an innovator for modern cars today. It was front wheel drive with a flat floor which allowed for plenty of spaciousness inside the car. I remember sitting on the armrest in the center of the bench seat in the front of the car. Looking down that long hood, and seeing the "T" hood ornament was a sight to behold! My grandmother's name was Luecille. "Come away with me Luecille in my merry Oldsmobile. Down the road of life we'll fly, automobubbling you and I."...

    This stunning Oldsmobile needs to be in a museum to protect it so it doesn’t get ruined in the future it’s absolutely gorgeous I’m so glad it’s been taken care of and not ruined my only concern is door hinges need greased also looks like a cb antenna which to my knowledge is not original tacky looking the only antenna that should be on there would be located on the right front fender it would be a power antenna

    Videography is terrible. Back off and let us see the whole car all at once from all sides. The camera is so close to the car we only get to see one small detail at a time - one taillight at a time. And so much of the time we were so close that it was out of focus.

    As nice as this car is I don't think anyone in their right mind would pay 20k for it. That's ridiculous. Maybe 10k at best. Plus, note the trailer hitch. Who knows how much weight this car may have pulled in its day putting stress on the transmission. This isn't a truck and not meant for pulling a trailer. Not a big deal it's just that the buyer has now way of knowing if this car pulled one occasionally or frequently. If I were selling it it would've been removed.

    • @stangslayerws6
      @stangslayerws6 6 лет назад +4

      Actually this car was made for pulling a trailer. The trailer hitch was a GM factory option. You must remember this was back in the days before everyone had a SUV to pull their trailer. Seeing these cars in the 1970's pulling a trailer was very commonplace.
