Hey, I just went through the comments wondering what you would think about this. I would definitely like to hear your opininion on this in a more in depth video. You could for example look at common loops in your video and compare how much time jflicking would save vs an optimal use of blights power without jflicking. Also an aspect interesting to me would be to try to 'meassure' how much skill jflicking does in fact require to perform. You could maybe try to get blight players who are new to jflicking to record their games and look into them to kind of figure how long it takes them to utilize the jflick to such a potential that they outperform 'regular blight players' (the average time saved on certain loops could be a good metric). I know this is some pretty time consuming even 'semi-scientific' shit u would need to do but I think we could all learn a lot more about this and maybe if the findings support it, that video could really be used to convince the devs to keep the jflick. ;D Hope you have great day!
A better example is for honors zone option select who got embraced to the maximum and it really can be compared to the blight flick since if baited or predicted ur 100% getting punished for it
I dont even play this game but I love the insight and commentary. Also, Nice sweatshirt. Keep up the good work and someday they will listen...hopefully.
If cross-play wasn't in the game, then this could be called a tech. But consoles can barely turn a Hillbilly, Oni or Blight compared to some M&KB players, so it's a huge advantage for PC players. Not surprised that the devs are removing it.
@@lok4890 Tech is supported by devs. Window tech is quite easy to counter, same for dumb tech and the breakable wall tech. The only tech that isn't easy to counter is when a PC survivor perfectly does a tech that I can't remember the name of. @@QrowxClover the one about the corner is obviusly not a colittion exploit. And here is the thing, to all those exploits, people had to learn to adapt and overcome, thats why people now know how to counter the window, dumb and breakable wall exploits, then with j flicks everyone went bananas and didnt want to learn to play around it or counter it.
@@lok4890 That's the issue though. The devs didn't support it. There's no "adapting" to jflick in most situations. It was something that made an S tier killer stronger.
I agreed a lot with the points you raised in this video, especially with how the community treats others for their decision over whether or not to use an exploit that was never intended to be part of the game and is already being planned to be removed most likely. On the topic of unintended exploits, you’re also quite correct about how devs can ultimately choose whether or not they fancy the changes want to go through with it or patch it out. Take combos in fighting games, for example. In fighting games, combos practically a staple no matter which title you play, yet the combo phenomenon got its start as an unintended glitch in Street Fighter 2, whose developer at the time decided to let stay after discovery of its use by many top players because of how it rewarded the them. This ended up creating a level of depth and skill ceiling, and ended ip completely laying the groundwork for the entire genre.
On cross off most of Blights(i cant say all but it feels like that) are using J flicks so u can play around it. Its not boring like Spirit coz it has counter play and for me its actually fun. Like if J flick were be removed i will play only against spirits, nurses and huntresses. And this is boring, not Blights with J flicks
There is a ridiculous lack of balance in this game. I find it disappointing that people want to nerf a skillful killer (similar to what they did to Billy) over a minor bug which applies to multiper killers (Victor, pig, oni, and others can use similar manipulations of large inputs to do 180s as well), when you have a killer which can teleport through everything. You can counter jflicks quite easily (Scott literally explained this in the video) and if you can't comprehend that, then you might be overestimating your abilities. Also, contrary to belief a high dpi is not required, and can be preformed with a reasonable dpi, so much so that ordinary players don't even realize this is unintended. The jflick has a hardware restriction for console players not due to "cheating" dpi, but simply because controllers have a lack of precision and increase input delay compared to typical mouse and keyboard, for many cases in this game it makes little difference if the action is slow paced, but for any fast paced action it is incredibly painful (DEVS add m&k support please). My hope is that the devs see that there is merit to this and if they decide to patch it out, rework adrenaline vial to allow for some application of this for all players to use (like on last rush, hit a button to change your direction etc)
wavedashing is a great counterexample to what you're talking about actually. the devs have removed it in every later version of the game and actively dislike that the melee community "abuses exploits". personally, idgaf what devs think. I - and by extension the community - can make my own judgements about whether something adds or detracts from the game.
You can, but the devs can decide in what capacity their games can be used in public and tournament settings. Which is why the "#freemelee" thing is a massive joke.
@@narsheguard6417 it isn't a massive joke. Nintendo knows if they banned all tournaments from streaming they'd be facing massive levels of backlash. There's a reason they have kind of backed down (for now) since then despite LCS being made as a charity event to basically dare Nintendo to C&D them. Since then many other events have also proceeded with no issue. That's "within their rights", but it's still a shitty thing to do, and worth making a public fuss about - affecting the company's PR is the main method we have of influencing their decision making.

There's no way for them to fix it though? Without completely fucking over people for playing with a certain monitor size or anything like that. People will always find a way around systems to exploit. The most we can do is shame them for exploiting and not act like they are some Superior big brain players. tbh its only yesterday I realised that this was an exploit. A good few of my friends I play with are good at J flicking and I honestly have no idea why its such a big issue in the game. If anything it gives survivors more potential counterplay: predicting a J flick and going wide like you would against a flick billy. I find a blight that doesnt flick less fun to verse as there are less options for you in my opinion. Idk these are my thoughts and I dont see why people hate it so much I just think people need to adapt

@@SkelXton its so weird. Idk if you’ve played survivor competitively at all but i have. I just want to say this is comparable to different playstyles of nurse players. Your last video was completely filled with bugs on Blight and people take this game serious to unholy levels UNIRONICALLY. I dont even know what to say at this point, me thinking about this made me lose 10IQ. at least.
I think a video of what you think is the worst match ups on DBD is would be interesting, Like for example Huntress on Cowshed, Clown on Mother's Dwelling, or survivors facing a killer on their strongest maps, situations where it is almost a guaranteed loss aslong as the other side knows what they are doing,
literally never bothered learning this as a blight because it's so scummy. All these blights full of themselves too only use 2 perks and beefy addons. They are so elitist.
@Lewis I'm saying these ones with two perks who say in end chat they were just playing around and would have won if they had 4 perks. I see them all the time. One dc'd when it was down to two people because they had already 'won.' It was the moment they killed the second on hook too. Saying jflicking as scummy is my mistake though, that's uncalled for.
Lol so that's why all the blights I'm going against can do these insane turns that I could never do with blight on console. I was always thinking how unfair it is how easy it is for them to literally turn any way they want in split second while me on ps can only turn a little bit and quite slow.
If the game bugs, forces you to verify you files integrity on steam, downloads missing files and now for some reason you get 1 devotion level each time you log into the game (with the 25k shards that come with it), is it an exploit to just play the game and get the 25k once or twice a day ? Apparently yes and it's worth a ban with no possibility to appeal. Happened live to a friend I was playing with.
@Source Dasher Well I have my ingame sensitivity maxed out. I have a bad wrist so I play at a very high sensitivity to cut down on how much I need to move my mouse.
something like this doesn’t bother me but the fact that you can only do this on pc and there is crossplay its a bit unfair on what you can and can’t do
That would only be accurate if killers could be pitted against each other; they can't. There nothing to this effect for survivors. In fact, when 360's were possible before the animation changes, I found it easier to 360 using an xbox controller.
Just to clarify McLean said that you are supposed to be able to flick and extend the the turn and do sort of a "double turn" is what he said followed by "THAT'S intended...what's not intended is going much further than intended in a single frame do you high sensitivity devices." So you are supposed to be able to flick...just probably a 90 degree flick (+more if you pre angle yourself like billy/oni) and not a full 180 like he does now. So do not fear blight flickers it will prob still be a tech you can use just slightly nerfed like Oni was around his release. If needed I can get the twitch clip as well for anyone that wants it from the man himself.
When in comes to wavedashing, the devs knew it was possible from the beginning. Wavelands are an intended mechanic, mainly to make airdodges into the stage look smoother. They just didn't have any idea that it would become as important as it is today as a movement and spacing tool. It's not really so much of an exploit as it is an unintended use of an intended mechanic, kind of like using Dead Hard for distance.
as a blight main, i am very upset that its getting removed as i dont really see it as unhealthy for the game but i guess if the devs want it gone, its going to go.
Fortunately mclean is in charge for blight and he is very sensitive to feedback. When blight mains give him the feedback that its healthy for the game (which it is, because a j-flick is just a cool play and nothing gamebraking + very easy to counter) then eventually they wont change it.
Really good job man. I told you this in your chat but I'll say it again. You did a really good job. Jflicking is absolutely an exploit. And people will act like it's so much more skillful, even though they're playing Blight in a much more simplistic way. I play on console, but I don't even want jflicking. Is it an exploit to just move your mouse really fast too? I play at 800 dpi and can nearly do a jflick with the amount of desk space I have so am I a cheater too? Is it also exploiting fps games to turn down you're dpi in order to have more accurate aim? All I'm saying is that changing your sens to have a bigger advantage doesn't seem bad to me.
This is definitely going to get fixed at some point. However, when they do this, I hope they close the gap between mnk and controller when it comes to blight. We can't turn nearly as hard or flick like pc players can. It reminds me of old Oni, where pc players could do 180° flicks, and console could barely get anything beyond 30-45°.

That's adorable thinking they'll care about what anyone has to say about it lol

If cross-play wasn't in the game, then this could be called a tech. But consoles can barely turn a Hillbilly, Oni or Blight compared to some M&KB players, so it's a huge advantage for PC players.
Not surprised that the devs are removing it.
i really hope the devs also remove stretched res and some other stupid gimmicks PC gamers have
Survivors can use their stretched res but we cannot use j flicks?
Stretched res benefits killers too.
@@QrowxClover every single "tech" that consists on abusing killers losing colition?
@@lok4890 Tech is supported by devs. Window tech is quite easy to counter, same for dumb tech and the breakable wall tech. The only tech that isn't easy to counter is when a PC survivor perfectly does a tech that I can't remember the name of. You essentially start out with a corner juke, then 360 around the killer when they walk by. If you do it perfectly, you disappear off their screen. But that's not.a collision tech.
You're vastly underestimating how grassroots the Melee community is and must not remember when Nintendo tried to shut down Melee at EVO 2013. It isn't their first rodeo.
The devs create the rules for their game period. Do you come to a chess tournament just throw away your opponents' pawns and say you won?
@@YagamiTrala Chess tournament rules are decided by the international chess community and individual tournament organizers, not by Chess Corporation. There are no "devs" in chess to dictate how the game is played.
@@narsheguard6417 Just cuz something is within the devs' rights doesn't make it good. Nintendo could say no one over the age of 10 is allowed to play in a Smash tournament, or Behavior could say all tournaments must allow ebony moris and killers must only play Trickster. That's "within their rights", but it's still a shitty thing to do, and worth making a public fuss about - affecting the company's PR is the main method we have of influencing their decision making.

Devs: jflick was not intended and is an exploit we need to fix it
Also Devs: no indication of fixing stretch res exploit despite it being around forever
I recommend watching the video about whataboutism by this same youtuber.
There's no way for them to fix it though? Without completely fucking over people for playing with a certain monitor size or anything like that. People will always find a way around systems to exploit. The most we can do is shame them for exploiting and not act like they are some Superior big brain players.
Besides most blight players use stretch resolution, PS2 graphics and any other shit they can to make the game unfun for the other side while insisting they are skillful and he is balanced. I'd rather go against deathslinger than this absurdly problematic killer
Oh they're going to fix it? I'll make a note to check on that in 2024 or so.
tbh its only yesterday I realised that this was an exploit.
If a killer isn't M1 loopable, survs are not happy. I find a very good blight who jflicks much more enjoyable to play than a very good nurse, or a very good spirit. Leave our pingpong man alone :(
@@SkelXton its so weird. Idk if you’ve played survivor competitively at all but i have. I just want to say this is comparable to different playstyles of nurse players. Some nurses are incredibly patient and never really go for predictions. Other nurses do go for those mad predictions. The ones that go for the mad predictions are far more fun to verse. Comparable to this. There is far more counterplay to a J flick than another bounce and a secure hit. And it takes far more control and skill than just chucking your mouse across a room

I have been playing at 9k dpi and am just now finding out that is not the norm.....
@Source Dasher Well I have my ingame sensitivity maxed out. I have a bad wrist so I play at a very high sensitivity to cut down on how much I need to move my mouse.
And here I thought this thing was about thing that Otz found with using Escape to stand still mid dash to bait DH.
something like this doesn’t bother me but the fact that you can only do this on pc and there is crossplay its a bit unfair on what you can and can’t do
That would only be accurate if killers could be pitted against each other; they can't.
