Hello pastor Peter tan, thanks for sharing the word's of God,may God bless you more and your family,God is good all the time, and all the time God is good☝️🫂🥰
Although 2 Cor 13:5 is frequently used by Reformed theologians as a test for the validity of one's status as a child of God, such a theological proposition is not borne out by a careful exegesis of the text. The Corinthian audience's regenerated state is already presumed. Phrases such as, "prove," "disqualification," "in the faith," and, "Christ in you," are applicable to authentic believers. The Reformed view also ignores the passage's symmetry, divine discipline as applying only to the believer, and that Scripture nowhere else harmonizes with the Reformed view's interpretation about a person testing himself to determine if he is truly saved. Finally, the Reformed interpretation destroys the believer's assurance of salvation. Rather than conveying a test for determining the validity of one's justification, in actuality, 2 Cor 13:5 serves as a test to determine ones development or growth in the middle tense of salvation, otherwise known as progressive sanctification.... Also First John is the view that takes the tests in the book as tests of fellowship, not salvation. First John addresses the quality of a believer’s relationship with God, not the reality of that relationship. The book’s purpose is not to initiate the readers’ relationship with God, but to deepen the relationship that they already have. Taken in this way, First John does not question the readers’ salvation or lead them into insecurity about their acceptance by God. It assumes their salvation and seeks to enhance their desire to be more intimate with God. First John is rich in truths that lead Christians deeper in their walk with God and with other believers.
Let me ask a question sir. What is the point of mentioning reformed theology? Is the whole expository message not clear enough about the basic gospel of Jesus with deep theological truths based in 1st John? I have friends from other denomination particularly methodist and baptist who watched this preaching and were blessed and commended how PTC delivered this truth, using proper hermeneutics and exegesis. God bless sir
