grate deal. i asume its only for the track now. very nice buy. have you done any thing with the bmw retro bike yet. or done the ushual man thing and bought another toy/shed fixer uper before doing one. 😆. any way cool videos as always but my fave bikes of yours or/were the gsxr750 (1998 ish) and the Vonda honda. all the best for next year too.
+Replicated People shopping for track bikes that know you can get expensive European bikes with purely cosmetic damage for 4-6 grand, slap race plastic on them for 1k, and have a perfectly functional track bike for a third of the showroom cost.

Do it dude. My brother did the same for his HP4 Comp. Bought it for 11k US. Blue book is well over 20k. Damage was similar. Cracked front fairing, light rash on bellypan and light rash on rear tail section. All in all thats a steal for a bike you rarely see. -RL87
The track bike on the left is my old TT600, which I originally bought new as a Sunday scratching tool & spare bike 15 years ago. Eventually it was relegated to track bike, it has been thrown up a track at high speed and repaired cheaply, and it owes me nothing. I've had shiny new litre sports bikes but I never took one on track because while I could afford to buy and run and comprehensively insure the bike for the road, I definitely couldn't afford to write it off on track. On my big track crash I was very lucky, the bike didn't tumble after I lowsided, it just slid from 100mph to a halt so it was repairable. It could easily have been three seperate unrecognisable chunks of scorched metal fit only for the skip. I suspect that ragging £15K worth of shiny new super fast super hi tech HP4 round the track is more fun than thrashing a tatty old CBR600 or Triumph TT600 or a pre-scuffed older Gixxer 1K around... but I doubt it's 10-15 times more fun! And if it does end up broken in half and on fire embedded in a pit wall, I can afford in the worst case to lose £1500... if I've borrowed twelve grand to buy an HP4 and then turned it into a heap of scrap on track, I'm going to be somewhat distressed... and still paying it off for a very long time...

I think the scratches on the blue strips on the front farings by the head lights look cool in a unique way. plus the bike reminds me of R2D2 from star wars.

If I had bought it, I'd just replace the subframes and rear sets, and then put some cheap fibreglass track bodywork and have a kick ass track bike

Hi Baron. I also had a HP4. Same thing happened to me. Also a write off. BMW's policy, replace rather than repair, which is bollocks to me, but in a way makes sense because if something goes wrong and you lose your life, their name get the blame. My left foot peg broke off completely with the shifter rod. Had a zero gravity screen on, and that's fucked to. Luckily my rear sub-frame was ok, even thought the tail section plastic was in bits, but still they quoted me a new rear sub frame, because they say it is bent. When I asked them how they know its bent, did they measure it? Their reply, o no we just had a look at it. I stripped it and measured it, no cracks on the welds or bends of any sort. Even quoted me the main frame because apparently that was damaged to. Front wheel also had a ding in it, but you can have that repaired professionally and save yourself a hell of a lot. As for the CF, you just send it to they guys that do CF and have them sand it down, repair broken CF pieces and lacer it up again. Also get an unpainted panel for the tail section, take it to a professional spray painter that can colour match it exactly and there you go. Saved another few bucks. Or go to a scrap yard, and if your lucky get a piece there, have it sanded down and sprayed. to conclude my story, I eventually had to part ways with the bike after fighting life and limb with the sharks from BMW insurance , because they said it wont be under warranty any more because of the crash. They cant determine what else got damaged as well, which you cant see with the naked eye. Luckily I'm back on the 2015 S1000RR motorsport colours. I do still miss all the extras the HP4 came with, full Akrapovic exhaust, CF panels, Lightweight alloy wheels. But in the end, those are the things that when your in a accident, push up the repair costs, and make your wallet cry. I still wanted to use it on public roads, thus the repair costs were to much, plus I was still paying off the loan on it. They did however settle the bike for me, and I at least got my deposit back, witch I used to buy my 2015 with. Enjoy your new baby and ride safe.
Hope it all goes well and you continue doing these events. Would love to come along in the future when I'm on a bigger bike.

If it's surface scratches then that's fine . If the scratches have gone past the resin and exposed the fibres then no way but you can still trim it back and mix some epoxy resin and seal it .

Happy New Year Baron. A vinyl wrap sheet would clear that scratchy tank up easily if you were that bothered. A British Racing Green and carbon S1000RR would be different!
There's a guy who own an HP4 near me who blasts up the main road past my house in the summertime. The quick shifter sounds awsome. Like being stood on back straight at NW200.

I bought my mates 2012 1199s tricolore after he crashed it for £5250. Like you I knew the details of the accident. Stands me at about £8k, I think its the worlds cheapest Panigale. Enjoy your HP4

It's been decided, this is the last video I watch in 2015. I intend to enjoy the shit out of this.
I'd keep the all the scratches and scuffs just the way they are, they add lots of character. I'd honestly rather have my bike look like that and worry less than have it pristine and try to keep it that way (plus I think the scratches look pretty sweet :P)

Great way to buy a bike. Hopefully doing the same with a DRZ I just went to look at. Cosmetic stuff, odd lever and a few marks and scuffs. My current DRZ is way too nice to ruin so after another to thrash about on in the shitty weather months and not be over too worried about dropping it etc.
