lol, you seem to be working backwards from the idea people are divine beings somehow "above" other animals in every way. The only significant way we're better than other animals is that we're much, much better at abstract thought...sex isn't all that abstract... sex evolved before even vertebrates existed. Such basic and essential functions as sex and food drive aren't really changed all that much by evolution. (the short version is because 1. it's a base system, if you change it other systems which rely on it working in a certain way break and 2. obviously an animal born without a sex drive isn't going to be having many kids. long story short, the sloths "instincts" are more or less the same as yours, so go ahead and do it like they do on the discovery channel.
