Hi, The button is to change viewing formats. A lot of Hikvision cameras can be switched between TVI HD / AHD / CVI HD or CVBS Anolog. Hikvision set their cameras to TVI HD as Standard. It has to be said that AHD gives a warmer picture than TVI. While CVI HD tends to look a little bit grey. Especially when compared to AHD! Press the button for 3 - 4 seconds, and you will hear the camera "click" as it scrolls through the formats. Hope this helps. Regards, Paul CCTV Systems UK
Thank you Paul , you are star, your videos are amazing!!! so helpful, I have just subscribed you channel . Appreciate if you could please make a video on Hikvision - Video Intercom Modular Door Station in Stainless Steel - DS-KD8003-IME1/S, as I can't see anyone explained properly and I think you are the best who can do it professionally. I love the way you explain so calmly, relaxed, watching you videos is pleasure!!! Thanks again and please keep it .
I have a Gen 2 colorvu camera connected to the poe ports on my Hikvision NVR. The Ptz icon is greyed out and cant be selected allowing me to access the inbuilt camera menus? It works for my PTZ cameras allowing me to access their built in menus but all of my other 9 non ptz camera's the PTZ button is greyed out. Do you have any idea why this is? thanks
Could I just ask a question please about the sensitivity of the cameras. I have 3 and put it to 9 but I don't find that's picking up on things anymore them before. I would like it to be as sensitive as possible. Can you help? Many thanks in advance
Haha, yes a lot of people forget that the original designation for HD CCTV 'which was of course SDI' was referred to as 'Million Megapixel'. I've got 22 years in as an AV engineer and still refer to HD CCTV that way 😅 Old habits...
Million and Mega in terms of pixels are the same thing. So those old SDI Cams would be a million pixels possibly, but recall them being measured in TVL myself. 540tvl, 700tvl etc. Up to 960h I believe 🤔
Hi Paul, I realise this is a video from a while ago but could you tell me if the following camera is compatible with following DVR. Camera. THC-T259-MS 5MP DVR Hi-look DVR-208-Q-K1 Thanks for help. 👍
I have wall lights out side my property when there switched on the colour vu camera Light goes off witch that’s fine but the camera seems dark like so I can see inside my path clear but the cameras looks onto my car witch is out side the path but seems so dark when I turn the wall lights off the camera is so much better what would that be
Hi Paul We have just had ColorVu Cameras installed at our house in Australia and still developing an understanding of the system, which will take a while as we are not Tech Savy! One of the issues we are currently experiencing is that we are trying to program the system so that the lights don't come on at night, however all the tutorials we have watched on the internet refer to the the PTZ Control icon, which even though it appears on our screen, is not highlighted in our control panel. We have spoken to our installer who has been over a few times to adjust the settings, however I think we know more than he does, as he does a lot of head scratching and then informs us the problem is resolved, only to find the lights coming on again at night. We have set the system to "Day" by the way, but this does not help. We are at our wits end in trying to get these lights off and was hoping you might be able to advise. We are using HikVision DS-2CD2347G1-L 2.8MM 4mp Cameras and a DS-76008NI-I2/8P NVR Also, are you able to tell us if our cameras also accept SD Cards as our installer is not sure and we cant find anything in the manuals?
No I doubt very much it is a shutter problem. 9.9 times out of ten it is a power interference issue. I'd try a 'groundloop isolator' Hope this helps, Paul CCTV Systems UK
Another problem I have is I've set up line crossing detection which worked fine for a while and now if the line is crossed the dvr completely reboots itself and shuts down for a few minutes. Have you heard of this before? Thanks
can someone answer my question? i have colorvu edition, is there a infrared function? because i dont want to light-on my camera on outside while night. because if i disable smart light, literally i cant see anything through the camera, its so dark, i want a white-black mode, is there a way to setting that on hikvision colorvu?
Hi, I'm afraid there is no Infrared function on Hikvision ColorVU cameras. ColorVU cameras deal with white light only, hence no need for night vision capabilities. Spro have a new Gen 2 IP camera that I am testing for them later this week. It has both white light and Infrared capabilities and, the white light only activates when humans or vehicles are detected. Watch for the video coming soon. Hope this helps. Regards, Paul CCTV Systems UK
@@CCTVSystemsUK thx Paul for the respon, thats helps a lot, its too bad hikvision colorvu dont have infrared, kinda a let down one.. ill wait for the next video spro camera :)
Hello, It's because the light is designed to stay on in very low light conditions eg: night time. So that it can provide additional light to the camera chip. If these cameras are placed on the front of a building with good light eg: Street lights then, the camera may deactivate the white light as it already has the light it requires to provide a good colour picture at night. Hope this helps. Regards, Paul CCTV Systems UK @CCTVSystemsUK
@CCTVSystemsUK would I get away with having the white light off and installing a sensor light beside the camera? I live in a residential area and the lights on all the time is not very neighbourly. Plus it just outside my window..
Hi Neil, If the camera is reverting back to 4MP, it will most likely be because the DVR is a HQHI model, whereas the HUHI will allow it to stay as 5MP. Hope this helps, Regards, Paul CCTV Systems UK
The problem with these cameras is that if you leave night light on you won't be able to see the number plates, if you leave it off you won't be able to see the face of a human. So from my point of view I won't be buying these anymore, instead I might go with the darkfighter.
Quality, really helpful, thanks for the sound advice and information, have definitely learnt something there so hopefully will get mine sorted out,.
Thank you for posting this video, it is very helpful. Saved me a lot of time!
You are very welcome.
Glad it's helped.

Nice useful video Paul, but 5 million megapixel ? That would be some fantastic resolution if correct, you'd need one hell of a hard drive though lol
