  • Here is gorgeous 2 minute clip of Chris Forrestal, a Wexford man living in Kilkenny singing a piece of a song for me back in July. I met him one morning by chance in Kilanne Graveyard and ended up recording some great few bits of history and song with him. Here is another bit from that recording in the form of a lovely little local song that he wrote. It’s not the complete song but you get a great sense to it and him as a writer and singer. Classic old style writing, storytelling and singing. He’s out of breath here but there is a great energy to it especially to when he tells me to ‘put down that there for a minute’. What is also striking is he composes most of these in his head and not on paper, and many of these songs or ‘throwaway units’ as he calls them, probably never get to see the light of day. Great to get this little piece especially for locals as the sentiment and the people and places are anchored in this part of Wexford and South Carlow. Enjoy and thanks Chris.

Wonderful. I met Chris in the car park on the Duffry in Enniscorthy and he regaled me with some great tales.

I came across this page, while researching my ancestry. We're not from Wexford, but, Sligo and Louth. But, I love every one of these videos. This is fabulous. 💚 Thank you to all who are participating.
