It's so wonderful to see you raising the next generation right. They are learning the best values on that farm. You are giving them so many amazing experiences. Please stay safe, and God bless.
It’s always a pleasure to see your life on the farm and omg that maple syrup looked delicious!!! I always get a joy of seeing the kids out there and having fun helping mom and dad. You are a truly blessed family and I hope you have an amazing year on the farm!!! God Bless you all
I love seeing the kids doing this I have been sugaring for 30 years and use a wood system myself if you boil in shallow pans it will go faster but whatever you do its all good :)
Tks for sharing. I been waiting for your syup making. Hope your having a great run. I understand the smell of sap boiling. You never get tired of it and you never forget it. Chopper boxes look really nice. Great find. Going to make darn nice sugar bush for you.
Talk about thinking outside the box , What a great idea for the wagon now a nice shed that didnt cost an arm and leg , That maple syrup sure looks tasty too , Great video and regards from Ohio !
How awesome reminds me of our set up for sap years ago small stove about 15 taps now we went big 500 taps vacuum pump etc but I had some health issues so no sap this year 😢 God willing maybe next but God bless you and your family that chopper box will be a great shed to work from keep up the good work
A little bit of advice from an old-timer: Enjoy every minute of time spent with your wonderful children, they grow up way too fast and move on with their own lives. I recently read that, as parents, by the time a child is 18 you will have spent 95% of the time you will have with them. Alan, you are so correct about Gehl boxes. Good design, but the under carriage always rots out. We have a 970 just like this one that let go last year. Also, the unloading beaters tend to rot out and they are now close to $500 apiece.
Hi guy’s, nice video. Who is this lady named Gail, I see her all over the place 😂 I think that box is big enough to hold a bunch of kids. Great job repurposing it. I made mine into a chicken coop, take care 🇨🇦👍❤️🚜
To see if it's thick enough, dip a tablespoon in and take some out, hold it up and dump the syrup off the spoon, if it just runs off, cook it more, you want it to kind of just come to the end of the spoon and the drops should stick, then break off! That's how you do it without a thermometer or a hydrometer.
That running gear should make a great hay wagon or mount one of your chopper boxes on to have a stronger running gear! how long did it take to boil down that pan of sap?
a, thats the cheap way or you can buy small outfits worning to you maple fever is an awful thing to deal with, next is to have alan make an arch out of an old fuel oil tank there are lots of plans on line to make you a real good stove or you can go to smokey lake maple there in mich god bless you and yours in the syrup buiss ness get your candy thermometer and cook to around 190
Great show, love seeing old things repurposed, and love seeing the whole family. 👍👏🐄

We were wondering if we shouldn't fill the pans as full and add more often, but we weren't sure what to do! Thanks for commenting.
Thats a neat idea for a use of a old chopper box great video as always

That maple syrup was pouring out of those trees. Good work!!!❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
mmmm, I bet that Maple Syrup will taste good.
That chopper box will work good for a storage, I never thought of that, great idea.
Another very interesting video Thank you 😊😊😊
I was just at an auction that had several nice boxes that looked like yours & they went really cheap - now I know why
Nice seeing more people making syrup!
I started first week of February! Up in pine city Minnesota, the sap has been flowing like a river!
You may have to invest in a smaller 2x4 pan an arch 😊❤ that would be great. Love seeing the kids an all the excitement. Happy sugaring
Love those Case tractors. We had one with a hand clutch I drove as a kid!!!
Living the good life i quess, thanks and greetings from a Dutch dairyfarmer
👀🙄🐾👍Great video Alan Jennifer and the kids
Great idea
Great second life for the chopper box. Maple syrup looks like a good crop so far. Thx
I see people tapping trees in their yards in town. It's getting to be quite the production wherever there are Maple trees.
Looks like the same stove that we had for cooking pumpkin down for pie filling 😋

Hello fun to make maple syrup. Enjoyed your video. Have a great day.
Good luck with making syrup, it was always fun as a kid doing it until it became work.lol. enjoy, lots of memories for the little ones.
Grandpa and I did it one year. A lot of work I remember. But it was fun.

Love it ❤
Very nice job and God bless y'all
If you use RO filters you will remove a lot of the extra water so you won't have to cook it as long.

Don't if you know but you can put two or three taps in a 12-14 inch trees. If you want more syrup.
When I tapped in the 70s with my kids couple times I put hot dogs in the boiling sap for them tastes good
U got a good set up if memory serves 40to1 40gal sap one gal syrup lot of work but worth it 👌
I'm ready guys I'll b over for pancakes bacon eggs with your fresh syrup love u guys❤
FYI, 66 brix will keep mold from forming. If you see it start, dump it into a pot and boil it a little more. 👍
We're boiling tonight!
❤ YUMMY YUMMY YUMMY ❤❤❤❤😊😊😊😊
Flat bed on that running gear. Wonder how many small bales it would haul? I see pancakes in your future!
Very nice and good job what do you do with syrup after your done cooking it and got idea with that old chopper box
We enjoy it on our pancakes.

If y’all turn the old chopper box into a sugar shack . Sounds like the beginnings of a small side business or at least some great birthday presents.
You can send some syrup out here
That running gear should make a great hay wagon or mount one of your chopper boxes on to have a stronger running gear! how long did it take to boil down that pan of sap?
I have to bring the running gear back.
@@trinitydairy Oh too bad they are good strong gear.
Do you have the sugar maple trees or just the box elder maples like us?
These are silver maple.
Great video 😊👍,did you guys tap any box elders?
No we didn't this year.
Nothing like pure maple syrup
Do you need a certain type of maple to tap?
Any type of Maple works. Certain maples have a higher sugar content in the sap. You can even tap boxelder trees as they are in the Maple family.
That's good to know. Thank you
👍👍👍👍
Would ship any syrup out? Wouldn't mind trying some.
Maybe someday!
Maple sugar time.... yummy
put a tap on a power pole makes people laugh
That syrup probably tastes a little tangy 😂
That's how city folks make it.
👍👌❤️🇨🇦
