The funny part is in japan, dora the explorer is hated because kids hate fake interactivity in anime because they perceive it as patronising, so this is just straight up a parody of it.
Isn’t that the exact reason it got abolished by the ‘10s? Because older people realized it was patronizing? I did enjoy it when Chowder took a potshot.
I genuinely never looked at the series this way, or at least in these words, and it makes perfect sense. I guess it also explains why the movie wasn't that great either.
I love how Aaron is doing a southern accent for this skit. I also loved that in the female version, they got the VA that voices Jessie in Pokemon to voice Pipimi.
Depends on the power source used. If it's Photonic Energy, it tastes like Sunny D x1000. Super Electromagnetic Energy tastes like batteries. Getter Radiation? 1000 shots of espresso and several psychedelic substances.
It appears they followed the jappanese script pretty directly. Honestly I was kinda hoping the do more ad libibing.. I mean it's not bad or anything but it kinda lost the improvisational quality of the original. I do really like the little song they did it was very funny. The entire thing should've been more like that in terms of improvisation. Wonder why they didn't go a similar for that little fried chicken bit at the end.
Unless they are able to do something like Ghost Stories, which is a very rare case, the dubbing team has to stick with the script no matter how free-wheeling the original scripts suppose to be. DC Douglas, who voices Pipimi in episode 9, tweeted about it in response to this question as it is scripted but loose. But they can actually play around it and they do in PTE S2. If mentioning Japanese people's names is involved, the dub will change those names to others instead such as mentioning Aaron Dismuke in this video. In one case during ep5 post credit scene where Hunter x Hunter is directly mentioned, the script is completely changed into roasting dub directors instead. The dub also casts VAs to fit the scripts or even in-episode main references if they can as well.
@@banninghamma I'm not dissing the voice actors here they did a pretty alright job with what they were given. It's just that I I don't think trying to emulate the original voice actors was the best decision. I guess I just wanted to see the English cast do their own thing and distinguish itself more. Honestly I'm alot more fine with dubs changing things than some other people. In my opinion it's fine for the dub to be different cause if I wanted the story in it's original intended form I'd just watch it subbed. However in this case in particular I think it be more faithful to the original if they diverged from it. It was already chaotic and free-form to begin with it only makes sense for the dub to get similar treatment in my opinion. As it is I just find it to be the same thing with slightly less raw performance.
@@guythatdosethingssometimes2651 It would of been nice, but at the same time they may get in trouble with the Japanese company if they deviate from what they’re given in the original. A lot of fans don’t know (or forget in some cases) that some of the Japanese companies have a say in english dubs they license out to.

They ruined the saw scene by getting rid of the pause after the perverted statement and by talking during the scene itself. There's such thing as comedic timing and dubs seem to be dropping the ball on it more and more every day.
If you watched the male Japanese version, the scene plays out exactly the same with the guys talking over during the saw scene. In all Pop Team Epic, no matter the language, the male VA’s have different lines that break whatever the female va’s followed in their scenes.
@@ramiking745 second that, because if the male versions just copy word for word the female version, then what is actually the point of the male version other than the very bizarre sight of male voices coming out of small and cartoonish anime girls, which is still pretty funny but that’s about it. If the male one isn’t your cup of tea, that’s fine, humor’s subjective. Just saying, don’t go so far as to say this version “ruined” a scene
It's Aaron Dismuke and Jarrod Greene as Popuko and Pipimi respectively fyi
Mmmm sounds like Aaron Dismuke is still in a pissy mood.
Where are they from, game wise

Interesting because in the Japanese dub for the female voices, they are both voiced by pikachu and meowth.

Love that in the dub, they spoke in Japanese
At first I thought they simply re-used the male Japanese voice track. I was so glad it wasn't when I double-checked.
I guess it was because this was parody of Dora the Explorer, who occasionally switches to Spanish.
@@Edagui97 It would of been some hilarious shit if they went for spanish instead of Japanese to make the reference more obvious.
It worked out perfectly because the Japanese parts in the English dub are in English in the original Japanese version.
Aaron and Jarrod defininitely had a ton of fun dubbing this.
“That’s a Vienna sausage at best and a shred of dental floss at worst” LMAO
This dub is absolute gold lol. This is my favorite Pop Team Epic short and they did it justice.
“Squeal like a piggy.” Had me rolling
This is my favorite skit. This dub turned it into a masterpiece.
I lost it when they said the Japanese line too.

Love how easy it is to dub whatever you want in this anime bc the mouths are always uwu-ing

The dub actors always give it their a-game
