Very well made. Things to learn in this tutorial: Layers, Polygon Tool, Fill Bucket Tool, Cropping, Clipping Mask, Color Fill Adjustment Layer, Rulers, Guides, Hotkeys, Selections, Define Pattern, and more.
Thank you so much for this! It was a huge help in trying to make a pattern for comic character. I was going crazy and knew there was an easy way to do this lol
That last part with the fill bucket took me by surprise. I wasn't expecting that, my thought was that you were going to use a mask and then paint over which hexagons you wanted as white or black.
This is exactly what I’m trying to learn too. I want to fill in the honeycombs with different backgrounds I’ve created and then have that repeat! When I do learn it, I’m making a video and uploading it so everyone else can do it too lol
Wow. Absolutely clear and easy to follow but a bit fast for a basic user like me. Kept having to pause to keep up but really great descriptions. Thanks!
Thanks, nice! Is there any way to make sure that space is the same everywhere? I tried it many times but somehow space is never the same. A little bit of difference is there.
This was a great tutorial. the only issue I have is that when creating the original patterns it makes a small hexagon and other patterns inside. know how to fix that? I could just fill if necessary just curious if you know why it is doing that
Love this tutorial! I tried with an other pattern with paws and dogs to recolor the single paw but it doesn't work, it recolor every dog and paw. What I do wrong?
Hi Svetlana! It's a bit more complicated. Try making a hexagon that's 2 x 2 inch or just a little bit smaller. You will have to resize the small pattern tile (before you save it as a pattern) to fit a rectangle that's 2in wide and 3in tall. Then you can save it as a pattern or multiply it to fit your canvas. Illustrator's pattern tool might work better for this.
Thanks! It's hard to tell what's wrong without seeing your pattern, but you need to make sure they are perfectly alligned. Also, be careful when you crop them. You need to cut through the middle of the hexagons. Hope this helps 😊
Nevermind! I figured it out finally. When I filled the new layer with newly created pattern it was in dissolve mode, and not normal. Now it's fine! Great tutorial :)
This is the 2nd instructional I have watched from this author I have subscribed, what clear concise instructions thank you so much!
Not seen anyone doing a tutorial like thos, just what I needed, thank you so so much 🙌 🙌 🙌 💕 xx

Your tutorial is very clear and quick! Just what I need. Not a 30 minute video filled with irrelevant information

very very good explanation
nice tutorial, but I wonder about somthing, does it work for any other shape? what if there is another shape that doesn't have symmetry shape?
Thanks for this easy tutorial! How do you get the pattern to repeat seamlessly with the random pops of color?
This is exactly what I’m trying to learn too. I want to fill in the honeycombs with different backgrounds I’ve created and then have that repeat! When I do learn it, I’m making a video and uploading it so everyone else can do it too lol
Dont know if you are doing the lords work, but you sure did my work =)

Doesn't display gap size?
Thanks, this is so helpful for me!!!
Is there a way to make the hexagons really tiny in the pattern?
I love all of your tutorials! I NEED MORE
Happy to hear that! I release a new tutorial every two weeks, usually on Fridays.
Elan Creative Co can’t wait! Good luck 🍀
Thanks :-)
Thx, you are great. :)
Excellent! Solved the exact problem I have!
How do you change the size of honeycomb?
How do I get the pink dimension scales that show the distances between the hexagons?
You need to turn on the smart guides from View.
So helpful thank u!!!
Christina, seus tutoriais são maravilhosos! 😍😍😍
Thank you so much, this really helped me out
How can I make a honeycomb pattern in a specific size, so the hexagon must inscribe a circle of 6mm or 30 pixels or something like that?
Great tutorial! Thank you.
Hi, how can I rotate my hexagon? It doesn't work for me. I use Photoshop CC 2021

Ok, I found the problem and solved! On the fill tool there wasn't checked "contiguous"
What size did you make your canvas in the beginning? What about pixel resolution?
I usually make my patterns 6 x 6 in at 300 dpi.
THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!!
Wow thanks for this tutorial..i just subscribed
Thank you, Dear!

Hello, amazing videos. I tried this one but my pattern is coming a little scratchy

Very nice good
Cool
Do you know why my pattern turn so jaggy looking? It's not pixel perfect. It's really weird... I dunno what to do...
Nevermind! I figured it out finally. When I filled the new layer with newly created pattern it was in dissolve mode, and not normal. Now it's fine! Great tutorial :)
