This is spot on correct claim as true and the added benefits to doing this besides being a diesel are *ENORMOUS* as when used at "trolling speeds" of say 6-8 knots this is also an *AMAZING* energy recovery system for topping off ahem "trolling motor batteries" ahem creating the first true hybrid electric platform for Boating as an Industry first as well😊

The engine doesn't turn. The waterjet has a steering nozzle on the discharge. You can see the stainless nozzle gimble shaft in some of the views that show the bottom of the jet.

Most sailboats need a large outboard but it’s impossible at sea . Nobody has a product in the long range electric outboard. May 50-100hp to push a 40ft or so at 5 knots at 50% throttle. The market is huge and untapped. I just need the outboard and I’m starting a package deal.

The shielded nature of the impeller in waterjets makes them so much safer than props for marine life and swimmer's...
Though more efficient than an open prop it would be interesting to see the comparison with a toroidal/sharrow prop and the deep speed electric rim driven electrojet.. the advantage tends to open up in favour of jets as speed increases.. and with jets however the rim driven blades of the electrojet mean it continues to cause less cavitation and has lower operating costs in terms of servicing .. oil and filter changes. That give the Rim driven E jet a speed and efficiency advantage over internal ICE driven interior waterjets.
The bio diesel option makes sense but even more logical is the development and substitution of the rotary liquid piston diesel and multi fuel motors.. mainly for simplicity size and lightness 80%. and also another 20 -30% efficiency .
They produce less noise vibration and with only about 60 parts in a whole motor. They are also inherently quieter and physically small.
To anyone interested in wake turbulence/noise reduction rim driven electric drive adds total rpm control from 1rpm up to max. to the options whilst full motor torque is available from the first few RPM. Up to near max.
This is an interesting and valuable transitional development but it can quickly be overtaken if the combustion of the fuel is optimised through an advanced generator .. as in comercial diesel electric systems..🤔

Um am I just dumb but a 300hp outboard is between $28k-$38k. He compares an outboard to inboard. Why? He says it’s $100k versus a $160k inboard. Also isn’t the Yamaha jet engines way less than that. I mean the Yamaha 25fsh with twin jet engines isn’t even $100k. Granted you can’t get just the Yamaha engines as far as I know but seems like it’s a ridiculous price.

Nananana, not so faaasst. So did OXE just solve the diesel soot problem, or is it just unregulated in the maritime applications? That's true, if the guy says, that diesels are 50% cleaner in terms of CO2 compared to gasolines, buuut what about the typical diesel problems: NOx and soot? Solved or not regulated?
P.S. I was triggered by him mentioning, that this engine was much cleaner than others in that room..

If the exhaust is discharged into the water like most marine engines you will not have an issue with airborne soot particles. Also for the most part boats do not operate in highly populated areas.

Who ever heard sucking in water - ABOVE THE BOTTOM OF THE BOAT? I guess the water suddenly has to bob up into the intake. How can that be efficient at more than a few MPH?

    • @cordellej

if you look properly you will see a tube on the back of the boat. when the engine is lowered into position the front of the jet seals onto that tube. and that tube leads to the intake thats under the bracket ( similar to an armstrong bracket )

For me, a salesman that is trying way too hard and willing to say things that aren't true isn't looking out for your interests. There is a rule in the Marine Industry. If Merc.
