I just got one of these and am having similar problems. The issue is back of the housing. The cutout in the hatch is a rectangle, whereas the back of the housing has kind of peanut shape to the ends of the rectangle. This prevents it from sitting flush. I'm not sure whether the back of the housing could be modified, or if you could just take a dremel to the hatch and open that cutout a little more to accommodate the light.
No, haven't had any problems. Even if water did get in the tailgate it will just drain out of the drain holes at the bottom of the gate. But I haven't noticed any water in the gate.
I got the same third brake light and it kept blowing my brake fuse. I had to install my old one back after 5 times and replace a stop brake light switch
It's just a generic roof rack that goes under many names. Just search 64" roof rack or search 005-th-50078 and it'll come up with multiple price options.
This is the best video ever!
no test of the light to show how it looks? cmon..
he did test it dude
@@jeremybeard1291 yeah from an angle a foot away.. was hoping to see how it looks 20 feet behind the jeep with the other tail lights..
Thanks for the info. Just found one on eBay for $16.10

Did you ever end up having issues with leaks or blown fuses or anything? I'm looking at installing one of these on my XJ

Maybe you wired it wrong and so it was blowing fuses?
@@DustySteel wires got frayed
@@mikemc4340 I figured it had something to do with the wiring because it kept blowing the fuse.
When I attempted to insert the led into the light housing the led’s metal prones were too thick to fit in the socket please help haha
Same issue here. I just took some pliers to it gently. The metal and plastic is soft enough to thin it out to fit into housing.
Where did you get your rack and what brand is it?

Hard pass for me it looked better before because without the good fit up it looks like a hack job
