I’m 71, and I hated all team field games when young, soccer, rugger, cricket, rounders etc….. If they’d had Frisbee on the field things would have been so much different. My favourite adult toy. Mixing true flight with a team game is wonderful.

used to throw old records about until i saved up my pocket money to buy an aerobie back in the 80s ...few years later youd see aerobie's in random places up in trees on roofs lol no doubt they were ones that were lost ...and then someone decided to throw one up over a lampost in my street in the uk out street light/lamp posts have a 90° turn at the top so you couldnt just throw it up to get it off the post ..wed try for weeks climbing up the lampost with it to try get it off lol but no joy ...until my friends dad cut it off coz he was fed up with us making noise outside his house where the lampost was ...i glued the thing back together and still it flew pretty cool ...great times when kids went out got muckey and had fun ...way before the internet 😂
I loved playing Ultimate and in college my team had some great throwers who could match these at times, and some great leapers too. My main skill was sprinting at the time. I am just glad to be reminded of it. I gasped at the #1 play here.

I'm hoping for a documentary about how pro Ultimate came to be, there's so much we don't know about the money, the AUDL vs MLU, and other struggles with getting it off the ground. Still today the AUDL is just 11 years old and has so much room to grow. Lmk when the documentary hits in 14 years lol

3 and 1 were outstanding throws. The rest of these were fairly normal throws that aren't all that amazing or even unusual. They're quality throws but I would have expected these types of throws in a "professional" league.

Could someone answer a rule question for me as I never played ultimate outside of summer camp. From what I understand, you're not supposed to move once you get the frisbee. But it seems like some of these guys catch the frisbee and take a good 7 or 8 steps to stop. Is there an official rule on how you are supposed to stop?
Yeah so basically you're supposed to stop as soon as you can. Some official wording is: "After catching a pass, a player is required to come to a stop as quickly as possible and establish a pivot."
I think 7 or 8 steps is excessive but maybe 3-4 is reasonable if you really had to run the disc down, usually less. Travel can be called if you change directions or seem to take extra steps when clearly could have stopped. The other thing is sometimes you can catch(on the run), do 1 step, 2 step into the throw into the deep space to get more power and to continue the flow of the offense. You're in the process of stopping your momentum but you throw before it's a complete stop.
Not gonna lie; that last one was friggin dope, yaaaaaallllllllssssss!

I am an American who played soccer and football growing up, and ditched those too for ultimate four years ago. Not only is ultimate more fun, but it takes significantly more skill and physical ability than both soccer and football. So before you say this is a “dad sport” or a “no skill sport”, try playing it competitively. Not in gym class

This is a really ignorant fucking comment bro, why wouldn't it be considered a sport? Do you not see 2 teams running up and down the length of the field throwing a frisbee to other players on their team in order to score points? Watching the clips in the video here these guys are pretty fucking athletic and are playing a game where they try to score more than the other team, and the team with more points at the end of the game wins, lol. imo these guys are just as athletic (maybe even more so) than the guys in the MLB. I say that because in Baseball the players spend the majority of the game either sitting in the bullpen eating seeds and bullshitting with team mates until they are up to bat, or they are standing stationary at their position until a batter puts a ball into play, which is the only time in a baseball game when the players are actually running or throwing the ball instead of chilling in the dugout or standing on the field at their particular position. Even when a batter puts a ball into play the majority of players on the field are still just standing at their position, unless the ball is hit into the part of the field that their position is responsible for, and beyond that they still barely have to run around too much unless it's a grounder or a line drive because with most pop ups the fielder just takes a leisurely jog to get under the pop up. So remind again how this game, where the players are pretty much constantly running up and down the field trying to shake defenders and throw pin point passes to other teammates shouldn't be considered a sport in your estimation?

Yeah, lacrosse, basketball, and ultimate suck. We need them non-NA sports such as cricket (hit a ball then do suicides -- repeat for 6 hours), soccer (kick a ball for 90 minutes and score 1.3 goals per team), curling, golf, and all those horse sports that Europe loves.
