The sidekick is probably the most underrated kick in combat sports because most strikers have stances that are too squared up too properly take advantage of it. Youd be amazed at how fast, hard and how much distance a good fighter can cover with it and how easy they are to pump out. You can throw them going forwards, going backwards, it has crazy power and it outranges literally every other striking technique. Its literally the jab of sport karate, if you're a point fighter you know what i mean. Good karate style kickboxers who used to be point fighters often stomp strikers from other disciplines just based off this technique alone because of how difficult it is to deal with it and how much more mobile the karate stance is. As someone who used to point fight and transitioned to kickboxing you can pretty much just "noob stomp" probably 90% of fighters, the other 10% use a more sideways stance so they have the mobility to avoid it and close distance on you, also odds are they also know how to use them
