Adani Group is an Indian multinational conglomerate, headquartered in Ahmedabad. It was founded by Gautam Adani in 1988 as a commodity trading business, with the flagship company Adani Enterprises. The Group's diverse businesses include port management, electric power generation and transmission, renewable energy, mining, airport operations, natural gas, food processing and infrastructure. The group has annual revenue of over US$20 billion with operations at 70 locations in 50 countries.
In April 2021, Adani Group became the third Indian conglomerate to cross US$100 billion in market capitalization. It crossed the market capitalization of US$200 billion in April 2022 becoming the third Indian conglomerate after Tata Group and Reliance Industries to do so. Adani Group as of 3rd August, 2022 has market cap of approximately 225 billion dollars.
The government on Tuesday named the Gautam Adani-led Group as the new entrant for the upcoming 5G spectrum auctions, along with existing telecom players Reliance Jio, Bharti Airtel and Vodafone Idea. This would lead to a direct competition -and possibly aggressive bids - between the newcomer Adani Group and the much-established players, especially Jio.
Adani Data Networks - fully owned by Adani Enterprises - has received approval for grant of unified licence with authorisation of ILD, NLD and ISP-B for Gujarat circle. Adani Data Networks showed a net worth of Rs 248 crore in its spectrum bid application, according to the information posted by the department of telecommunications (DoT) on Tuesday.
