i just want to say the paint job on those Custodes is amazing! I saw this paint scheme and literally cant wait to order the combat patrol now. i will be using your army as inspiration!
There may be two reasons for the Custodes Helmets. 1. Back in Rogue Trader Era where they had removed their Armor, the only piece of Armor they kept was their Helmets. These Helmets were supposed to host a huge array of sensor and most importantly shielding technology that may simply have required certain space to be houses. 2. It imitates the Grenadier Hats and those of the Horse Guards which are british Regiments still tasked with the protection of the Royal Family.
I really dislike the design of stratagems that focus on "removing the abilities of the other player" rather than proactively doing things. They should be fun to use for both sides, not like the Custodes ones which just say "Oh, you're using re-rolls? No." and "Oh, you're boosting your damage? No." I get that they're supposed to be strong and all, but there are ways to be strong without essentially gimping the other player's ability to use their own army book.
Probably two of my least favorite armies in 40k but wow that was one of the best batreps I’ve ever seen. Such a laugh and a joy to watch well done on a great game guys
While I dont play them, I really like the idea and concept behind GSC. I think it's pretty cool. And I enjoy seeing anyone genuinely excited playing an army.
Beard knocking over all the terrain is very relatable as someone who also seems to clip building with every gesture. Makes me think I should start an army of Tyranid bio-Titans to suit my capacity for knocking over buildings

I’m new to Warhammer and would love to play the tabletop game. Shows like these are exceedingly entertaining and a great learning experience for us trying to to join in.
Very enjoyable to watch, and I don't even play either army. It was interesting to hear Chef say how he like being able to move and advance and fire at full effect. I'm so looking forward to doing the same thing with Tau under Mont'ka.
Now that is one hell of a battle report. It is great that you tried to display as much options from the Codexes as possible and to showcase how things work. It would have been cool for Custodes to have at least one Sisters unit to showcase how they synergize now, but otherwise, great job.
I don‘t know if somebody already answered it, but the Custodian Guard have these cone shaped helmets, because they embed their shield generators in it. It is much more advanced then a regular shield generator, which is why it takes up so much space. It is stated in the old lore and hasn‘t been changed since then, if i‘m correct
The reason for the pointy helmets is very simple: Bouncing! The helmets, while mostly decorative, are also very angled, which allow bullets to ricochet off the armor [Which is something the custodian guard routinely manipulates to their advantage] And it most likely also serves as psychological warfare AND counter-intelligence, as it makes them look even taller and menacing, while also hiding the true position of their head and considering 99% of the people in the galaxy don't know what a custodian's proportions are, they might at the very least hesitate as to where to shoot, which, custodians being custodians, essentially turns the fight to their advantage
@@te9591 Shooting at custodian armor in the chest is the equivalent of shooting peas at someone wearing full tac gear, if you're gonna shoot, you might as well try and hit the head

Bit of a weird question but in turn 2 when the allarus terminators, vexilla and captain charged was the ridgerunner's flare launcher -2" to charges forgotten from the captains charge? I think the roll was a 9 ( 3 + 6 ), he just was deepstriked in so he would of been 9" away and 7" shouldn't get him within 1" of the ridgerunners.
If you guys dimmed the lights and used pads for rules and had lights positioned on the dice rolling areas you could effect table top lighting to a high standard with lights positioned in and on terrain.
To help answer your question about Vertus / Vexilus Praetors and why they share a name: Praetor was a Roman rank, so I suspect it's simply to designate them as more senior troops. It's not a perfect use of the word as Praetor was a high ranking elected official, not a military rank, but I suspect it's used to refer to the Praetorian Guard who were their (and the Emperor's) bodyguard, as well as being more senior soldiers. Really this should refer to all Custodes, but I think here is intended to confer seniority over 'normal' custodian guard, like a lieutenant or sergeant (or in Warhammer how Tau crisis suits are shas'ui). Vexilus means a banner, so a senior soldier / bodyguard holding a banner. Vertus I would guess is meant to refer to them flying, vertex meaning something high or turning in Latin, though it more directly translates as a form of masculine/brave virtue (virtus more commonly, though it has been spelled vertus, which I suspect is not the intended meaning here).
If you are open to screen organization suggestions, I find the dice screen center bottom screen annoying. It covers up the table and the action. Top right or left corner would leave the table open for viewing.
I really love the bright silver accented with gold and purple for the custodes. Bright. Clean. Crisp. But not too in your face or gaudy like the gold. Now, don't get me wrong, I love my gimmicky golden garbage, but this is just really pleasant on the eyes which gold can...not be, sometimes.
