This is a yellow card for me. Even when it's an unsportsmanship foul, it has some intention on playing the ball. Not a non-card for me, but of course this is not a red card foul.
I feel like it was some sort of exhibition game, like the stakes weren't too high. I can see a YC to tone down the vibe of the game at that point, but its a borderline YC for that foul. in a normal setting, NO WAY is that a RC.
It’s not for the foul so much as the constant unsportsmanlike conduct but I agree with you it should v been a yellow card for the foul, If he’s running about daft like an idiot he could of booked him again for his next foul and he was gone, I don’t think it’s right a ref sends someone off cos he thinks the guy was going to keep doing it but also it’s there way of getting control of the game before someone really gets hurt
This is an absurd red card. The tempers seemed to slowly increase between both teams. If the ref acted one minute before by gathering both captains, and telling them to calm down, it would have been more efficient and sufficient. Despite to do that, he wrongly penalized one team
The only way this is red is if the player is on a caution and is being cautioned again for persistent infringement of the Laws. If that's not what happened, I'm baffled.
In which case the referee should have shown yellow (to indicate 2nd caution) followed by red. A red card should only be shown on its own for a standalone sending off offence.
He may have already had a warning. When I played amatuer football, refs didn't like to give out yellows because they knew the players would have to pay a fine.
maybe its different in the uk but we pay fines for yellows and reds infact what was given in this video is the biggest fine you can be given a straight red card.
What's your thoughts on number 3's tackle 10seconds into the video? For me from those 2 tackles alone it's minimum yellow and a good talking to, if that hasn't already happened elsewhere like you're eluding to. He's pushing the limits with every tackle, if the ref let's it keep going it will get worse.
Yeah, that's just a yellow. Kind of an odd reason to send someone off when he was clearly intending to get the ball there. Reasonable reaction from the crowd for once, but that was kind of a dumb way to attempt to get the ball.
The rules state "Reckless” means that the player has acted with complete disregard of the danger to, or consequences for, his opponent:a player who plays in a reckless manner shall be cautioned." i.e. yellow card, clearly this situation here. But, we don't know if this was the player's second caution, an automatic red. On the other hand, there referee, who was, after all a lot closer to the play than we armchair folks, might have apply "Using excessive force” means that the player has far exceeded the necessary use of force and is in danger of injuring his opponent:a player who uses excessive force shall be sent off." Refs have wide latitude. (I was a FIFA ref for 10 years.) We discussed the application of those two rules over and over in clinics. It's rarely clear-cut
it was a straight red, shown by showing the red, and no yellow before it. You were not a ref for 10 years, if your suggesting that it cold have been for excessive force. Where do you claim to have been a ref in exactly and when ? PS FIFA does not govern referees. FIFA require that every referee needs to be registered, what age where you when you started refereeing games?
It's funny how you can tell that these people are American even with the sound off, simply because they all look like this is their first time touching a ball with their feet.
There was no intent to win the ball. Depending on what was developing before the video, for instance, if the player had been warned, it does make a difference. On seeing it w/o that info a yellow and a verbal warning might have been appropriate, but the intent to trip? There is no question about that.
@@makombi32 In all honesty, even if he knows the situation is getting heated, I would still give out a yellow at most and not a straight red because that will make the situation worse even when the tackle itself was yellow worthy.
Intentional trip. He rotates his body 90 degrees and plants his foot in front of the other player's and puts both hands on his back to push him down. He wasn't trying to play the ball otherwise he wouldn't have turned his body 90 degrees before he initiates contact. A lot of context is not available and that could have changed a lot, but just by this video, it was chippy already and the ref was letting too much go and needed to get the game back under control. I think I would have gone yellow and issued a warning to both teams that this ends now or penalties and probably cards are going to come rapidly.
I don’t know much about soccer (especially from the referee’s perspective) but I don’t think that should’ve been even a yellow card. If anyone reads this who knows more who thinks otherwise I’m open for discussion
As a referee: I think that should be a YC. The challenge was very late, with no chance to get the ball. He essentially hooked the player's legs with the ball a few feet away. It's a cynical challenge.
I understand why a straight red was given. There was no attempt to play the ball, a two-handed push/takedown from behind, and a history of Black 3 being a jerk in this game. That said, I would have given a yellow for the foul by Black 3.
wow that's really not even a yellow unless he has done several fouls. It was a careless tackle. Nothing about that goes under law 12 for a straight red...
It could be a yellow just for UB or for PI too. Maybe this was #3's third foul. Definitely not a red though. No SFP or VC, no spitting, biting, and all that nonsense here.
He did appear to be only attempting to sweep the legs of the attacker, so I get what concerned the referee. But I also would have given only a yellow - short of some unusual context that wasn't captured by this footage (history of the carded player jawing/taunting/threatening the fouled player).
i think the reason that he was sent off for a straight red was because he had multiple warnings and continued to do so i referee myself so i can see where the ref is coming from but normally this is a yellow
Even with warnings, a similar foul is never worth a red card. If he had warned him continuously before, he should have just given him a yellow before. The only way I can see a red card given in a similar context is when an unsportsmanlike behavior is clearly seen from the player like swearing, pushing the opponent, clapping the referee sarcastically, etc. But then again, that's why this is an amateur league and he's an amateur referee.
This is a yellow card for me. Even when it's an unsportsmanship foul, it has some intention on playing the ball. Not a non-card for me, but of course this is not a red card foul.
I agree👍🏼
I feel like it was some sort of exhibition game, like the stakes weren't too high. I can see a YC to tone down the vibe of the game at that point, but its a borderline YC for that foul. in a normal setting, NO WAY is that a RC.
not even remotely trying for the ball... no
he tried to stomp him!!!!! are you blind?
Agree
Boy that is soft. Tinkerbell tackles harder then that
Don’t tread on me

Honestly tho

For neymar this is a hard tackle
This is an absurd red card. The tempers seemed to slowly increase between both teams.

Classic Americans bro
@UColLQa4x_YcXruZeJbCB2zw fucking idiots pal cant stand them
The only way I can think of why a red card was issued was if the referee though he stamped on his leg after the fact
Or maybe he already had a yellow card.
The only way this is red is if the player is on a caution and is being cautioned again for persistent infringement of the Laws. If that's not what happened, I'm baffled.

We have no idea what the context is here, folks. Did #3 already get warned? Had the captains been warned? The coaches?
What's your thoughts on number 3's tackle 10seconds into the video? If that's a red card than the sky isn't blue
Weeks later, both teams would meet at the Blue Oyster Club.
Bloody hell that’s an awful call, it’s a clumsy tackle - not even a yellow - to give a red is ridiculous!
HE GOTTA TAKE CLASSES FROM "RAMOS"

does #10 have a rat tail?
It seems like the only people in America who know the rules of football are the referees XD
Red card for that?! Not even close to being a yellow!
Not even a yellow. Maybe if he's already have a talking-to for previous offences.
Perhaps the red was for an attempted stamp? That would be a fair call if he saw it that way... Difficult to say
No attempted stamp, tbh.
he clearly tried that.... red card
@@marceloevera2009 It's barely a foul...
@@jakes658 he tried to stomp...
@@marceloevera2009 No he didn't. He clearly stepped over him. The red card was rescinded after review of this video.
Again, it's barely a foul...
Looks like the ref forgot his yellow card at home and only red was available :)
It's funny how you can tell that these people are American even with the sound off, simply because they all look like this is their first time touching a ball with their feet.
only thing i can think of is maybe he thought he had stamped on him. from his angle. the tackle was a caution
Could have been a second yellow of camera?
Yellow. Even if he was a jerk. You give the yellow because, if he follows this path, he'll do it again...then it's a red
I refed for 7 years that's a yellow!
There was no intent to win the ball. Depending on what was developing before the video, for instance, if the player had been warned, it does make a difference. It's a foul. The ref should have thrown a yellow or two in the build up to this foul. A red card was way over the top.
It should be a yellow at most since it’s enough contact for the card and it’s stopping an attack, but no way on earth is that a red.
I suppose he thought he stamped on his leg when landing, it was getting heated after all. Still he shouldn't give anything if he's not sure.
@@makombi32 In all honesty, even if he knows the situation is getting heated, I would still give out a yellow at most and not a straight red because that will make the situation worse even when the tackle itself was yellow worthy.
Only if the player was on a yellow card I would know that
That's not a red. Given the physicality of the game, I don't even know if I give a yellow.
Intentional trip. He rotates his body 90 degrees and plants his foot in front of the other player's and puts both hands on his back to push him down. I would not even given a yellow, unless it was "persistent infringement"...
From the looks of the game there was persistent infringement all over the field.
my thoughts exactly
I don’t know much about soccer (especially from the referee’s perspective) but I don’t think that should’ve been even a yellow card. If anyone reads this who knows more who thinks otherwise I’m open for discussion

this referee is now a police officer
Serious foul play? Violent conduct? Dogso?
no wonder they say that football is not a contact sport because of these 🤡🤡🤡...
Oo
That is hilarious.
Barely a yellow. If that was the standard for the rest of the game, I guess a yellow, but otherwise just scold and move on.
Anyone know what level this is? Some good players there
Prob U16 or U17 Club football
tenían que ser gringos jajajajaja aquí en Argentina ni siquiera es amarilla eso
Even the opposing team was confused 😂
for me that's a yellow I dont see much contact that could make the player fall
That's not even a yellow card. Anyone who disagrees needs to find another sport to be honest.
Counted about 5 mistakes this ref made in a minute. This guy is a clown.
It’s actually painful watching Americans play football
Not even a yellow card
Shocking decision 🤣
Not even a single fuckin yellow card
That not enough to be red card
Yellow card all day but a straight red is ridiculous.
Thats a yellow at the absolute most
Americans trying to play football is so hard to watch
That is not a straight red card. It's hardly a yellow.
Maybe yellow, never red.
BS call
its baaaaaarely a yellow, wtf
Sigh - if only the perosn 'filming' had actually filmed whatever happened !!
Alan Deans , the entire game was recorded. This section is what the coach chose to use as an appeal/review. The call was overturned.
That's the softest red card i've seen 😅
@Fat man eating a pie on the bench football club easy peterborough scored more goal than qpr. also qpr are shit
I could almost see this if it was just the one side being rough and tumble.
i dont blame the ref because there was no way he was going for the ball there he just swiped his legs out
It's barely a foul...
Maybe Americans should stick to football not soccer
This is never a straight red
Not even a yellow. Pathetic
America is so soft haha
Goddamn I miss sports
What a shit Standard of football?! It’s like watching Under 5’s!!! Embarrassing
And I assume you'd be waltzing through all of these players and scoring 10 against them yeah?
what the fuck did i just witness. damn these refs give us a bad image, and who gave this guy the job to work the camera? jeez
Embarrassing from the ref. It’s a foul, no more.
and i thought english refs was bad
That not a red it is not even a yellow
Americans 😂
ive made about 7 of those tackles in the same game and not been carded. US refs need to chill
Not even a yellow. Just give the free kick and get on with it
The worst red card 8n amateur fotball
This is a correct red. He’s a jerk and is not playing in the spirit of the game so get off the pitch.
that isnt even a yellow, u can tell this ref doesn't know what he's doing just by the way he sent him off.

That's a yellow all day. Bad refereeing.
Red card for this ? Clearly u havent play football in Greece :P

thats a weak red card

WAIT WHAT DO YOU MEAN OVERTURNED
@Thack Oh, I got you, I thought it was overturned on the pitch.
Think his mouth got em the red, listen closely
Thought it wouldve been a double yellow but he went straight for red.
Ref to Blue: Bro stop, Or I'll do nothing about it.
Ref to black: UH NUH, NUMBER 3 YOURE GONE.
high probability for injuries and wasnt even close to the ball, so unsportsmanlike conduct, def a red card, because its probably not his first foul...
horrible ref. Normal foul in non dangerous position with placed defence. Not brutal nor tactical. Never red card.
a straight red? did he injure a 2 year old or sumn? maximum yellow that's absolutely embarrassing
When Americans try and play football
Menos fútbol que Utilisima los gringos

it gets worse hes now a top flight ref in scotland!
Damn American football is soft.
