Love the steampunk vibe of the triple-barrel heater! It's amazing to see such innovative solutions for common issues. Can totally see this working in temporary social spaces too. Absolutely amazing!!

I insulated my garage door, last year but haven't added heat. A batch box sounds perfect!

Looking good! Thank you for doing the descriptions the way you do them. It was nice to see the thread about this build in Permies, and the beautiful Rocket Mass Heater thread is full of inspiration!

Now Im glad that I didnt build a mass heater for the shop last fall. Instead I built a regular steel fire box. Its already deteriorating, though I knew it would. It was a fast, temporary solution for this winter. Ive been wanting to build a mass heater for the shop but havent taken the time to do so. Now after seeing this, I know what Ill be building this fall. Thanks Paul!!!

I wonder approx. how much more efficient is a 3 barrel batch box rocket heater than a conventional wood stove..

Rather than thinking in terms of "efficiency" for combustion, I prefer to think of cords of wood for the people feeling warm. I would guess 3x. Rocket mass heaters get 10x because the mass keeps the home warm all night so that people are not trying to operate their "75% efficient" wood stoves at 3% efficiency.

THank you. I appreciate all the work you and the folks around you are doing to bring this technology to the public. Cheers sir!@@paulwheaton

What it the best stove por a little room of 5x4m. I am looking one that could avoid the smoke even when you insert the wood and that can get the air for the combustion from the outdoor. Zero smoke.

Start a thread at permies. Maybe add some pics and info about the space and the sorts of rocket stuff you like.

Have you seen this video about the tiny rocket heater with a cob hat? ruclips.net/video/T7HcAjfFUxM/видео.html
I think there are links in the video description to a thread in Permies about the build. You could also start a new thread about your problem in the forums, it's amazing how fast you can get help there.. There are a lot of people with expertise! Getting the air for the combustion from the outdoor sounds tricky no matter what kind of stove you have.. Yup, I would take that question to Permies :D

    Step 1. Get a workshop
    Step 2. All the Barrels
Step 3. No more excuses not to finish projects.

Sounds like the ideal would be two heaters, one for instant heat, and one for retaining heat for 8 hours plus of work. Its still a huge savings though one time cost of making it.

1:05 There was a guy putting fuel on the fire. That would be continuous burning, not batch burning. If I had one I would want to do continuous burning. Is continuous burning an approved method?

have you guys heard of a "recoheat"?? i know you'd rather avoid using more electricity, but i would imagine fitting one just past the barrels would help as well. British company but they sell in the US now, too.
