  • This was our experience on Lighthouse beach, Eleuthera, Bahamas, in January, 2024. The road there, the walk to the point, and the snorkeling there. #beach #life #nature

Hmmm - I've been to that beach about 5 times since 2004, and my guess is the Disney Park being built there has altered how you access the beach, and how you get to the point.
My last visit was in 2018 - and up until then the road took you almost directly to the Point - no walk along the beach necessary. The road in 2004 was a bombed out pot holed nightmare mix of broken concrete & shaved volcanic rock, and by 2018 it had been improved quite a bit. But it was nothing compared to the lovely road shown in this video.
My guess is the road in the video was built by Disney for their trucks and other vehicles to access the Northern part of the build site. There is definitely another road that either branches off this new one, which leads more directly to the site, or this road is accessed North of the old road. I'll have to look at aerial maps to know for sure.
The beach is an absolute jewel - one of the most beautiful I've been on across all of the islands I've travelled to in the Caribbean. We were deeply saddened to learn it had been sold to disney, but happy to hear that it will still be accessible to anyone staying on the island - so if you're planning a trip to Eleuthera, although the beach will have lost it's undiscovered vibes, this has to be a beach you visit.

Yeah, this the only road now. It’s probably the one you remember and yes, there’s a gate with a guard house that keeps you from going further (because of the Disney development). The only way to access the point is via a 2 mile walk along the beach which I don’t mind.
