Another great episode, as always a pleasure to watch!
It was very interesting to hear how Joseph got into photography and it's so cool that he was inspired by Steve Irwin to get into his profession as a Crocodilian Research Biologist 🤩 I also watched Steve's shows as a kid.
The project Joseph's working on concerning current/future Crocodilian and human interaction sounds very important! I like how you both stressed to be aware of your surroundings and behavioral cues from apex predators when people are in their space! With education, following guidelines and instictual as well as taught situational awareness it's possible to minimize negative experiences for both humans and Crocodilians alike.
Another thing that came to my mind while watching the episode and which I've thought about a few times over the years is: why is it always the predatory animal who is blamed for its natural behavior and has to be removed?! 🤔 Most of these animals have lived on this planet a long time before us and are far better at adjusting to varying conditions than us humans (a fact we all should be in absolute awe of!). Yet it's them who are forced out of their natural habitat by mankind when it's rather us humans who should educate ourselves better, take more precautions and arrange our lives around those animals to conserve our sensitive ecosystems.
I remember several years ago now there was a bear coming into southern Germany from the Alps. He was kind of hunted for weeks because people were scared he could take livestock and/or hurt humans and was finally shot. A healthy animal that was only coming back to a region where bears were once native... and there's an ongoing discussion whether it should become legal to shoot wolves, who have also been establishing themselves in a few regions of Germany (they were once native here, too). I'm sure there are lots of factors to consider and I absolutely understand farmers' concerns for their livestock (especially sheep) and therefore income but I think that with todays technology and special guard dog breeds it should be possible to properly protect livestock and coexist with the wolves peacefully.
So thank you for introducing Joseph, I checked out his insta and RUclips and will definately come back for the film projects he's been talking about! Looking forward to his Crocodilian and Silver River turtle survey content 😃

Joseph is incredible and does some awesome work! That's very sad about the bear and the wolves in Germany... The wildlife should be considered as well, but 99% of the time, they remove the animal. It's very sad and unfortunate. Always appreciate the love and support!! 🤙🏼
