i LOVE her floor, her music is so simple and is easy for a gymnast to loose the attention f the audience with such slow music but not izbasa, her graceful elegant style and powerful tumbling just go so well with it!
she said that she didn't mind about it because she got gold medal on vault (instead of mcayla :)) and bronze on team final. she stated that she's happy with her medals
that fall absolutely broke my heart. I was cheering for her so hard and it totally gave gold to Raisman -although it would've been very hard cause of D score-, it's just that Raisman olympic fx champion... it just doesn't feel right. (don't take this wrong, she played by the code -although her E-scores through all the olys were a joke-, but she just can't dance and has a poor form. compare her to the previous floor olympic champions. like, Zamo, Cata, Sandra &... Aly. and they're just the last)
Her score was 5.6 DV, execution was 8.033 with an out of bounds deduction of .3, so her score was 13.333. Difficulty is .7 less that what she usually has, so it could've been 6.3. Plus the fall and out of bounds is 1.3, so that is 2 points she lost - she could've potentially scored 15.333. Now, if she had added in her back tuck to her full in on the third pass, it would've been 15.533, and also, her spin 0:55 wasn't counted, so that's another .1 lost, so she was capable of upsetting Raisman!
Sad she fell. She would've had a medal for sure if she didn't. But omg her choice of music is flawless. I think it's the best music used of any gymnast at the Olympics.
Especially when she won on vault, she was a tumble away from being a gymnastics great...Raisman is the first floor champion to have a routine that was boring...
Well here, I think it was only a 5.6 DV because her last front somersault didn't count cause she landed on her hands. But her routine from qualifications was a 6.3 DV, and she sometimes connects her full-in to a back tuck in her third pass adding an additional .2 CV, so she could potentially start at 6.5 which is the same as Raisman.
i hace nothing against sandra, but please y'all give raisman a chance... the light of the day at least!! she deserved her gold medal, even izbasa agrees that raisman was the better floor worker!! so why not appreciate and stop hating!!
What a pity! I still don't know what was happening in her mind while she was doing her final floor routine. She did it so well during the qualifications, AA, team finals, that it's a real pity to see this! Was she stressed? Don't get me wrong: if I'm in sorrow it's because I know that Sandra Izbasa is one of the greatest gymnasts of all the times! Thanks for sharing the "candid" footage :)
I really think that it was better for her to have fallen at that time than hit the routine and still not winning over raisman, because she really would get a maximum score of around 15,3 and would not beat raisman's 15,6. It would be unacceptable and cause a huge frustation for us, gymnastics fans.
I was talking about this routine with a clean last tumble, it's obvious that she would have a similar A score to Raisman if she had done way more difficulty, so this is REALLY not what I meant. She hit that same routine all over those olympics (double turn in L not considered and was the only different skill to add some more tenths) and this did not go over the 15,3. So considering that the judges would not inflate her execution score, it's clear that she would not beat Raisman.
What does it make her the best in the world? Did she win a world gold medal lately? Did she get the best score on floor this year or last year? No! And I could say the same about Maroney "I don't give a shit if she fell on her second vault, she is the best vaulter in the world!" That vault gold was a tremendous gift from God and I am glad she could feel the same way Maroney felt in the vault finals.
Lets hope we see her one more time in Rio! If she doesn't win floor this time, at least we will be dazzled again by her unique style and no floor-humping. Till then 2013 world competition ;)
That fall was devastating, but try to show Raisman some respect. She trained just as hard as the other gymnasts and gave the best floor routine of her career in the event finals. @PinkCupcake: Technically speaking, she's not. Maroney is still the defending world champion on vault, so she is still called "the best in the world."
I was considering THIS routine as if she would hit it or not, and she rarely does the back tuck after the tuck full-in, if we get to "if she had done it, or that, or it, or that" for sure anyone could beat Raisman, but if she had done just like that and hit the last tumble it's clear that she would not win.
Why? I'm an American who is very patriotic during the Olympics (Gabby Douglas, yeah!) but even I was half rooting for Sandra to win. She is so beautiful on this event, and I think I might even like this routine better than the 2008 one (I didn't think that was possible in 2011.)
This is really sad...I expected her to get a medal, she qualified second! I was 100% sure that she would AT LEAST get a bronze medal!! She won a gold medal on floor in 2008! This is really disappointing.....
she would have gotten a bit more because she would have also gotten the connection plus the extra .5 for the front tumbling. thats arround 1.7 more. with less form deduction even form. she could have gotten silver without it
Say all you like but to me she is the best in the world! Start value and scores doesn't matter. And the reason she didn't win world gold on floor lately is because she had been I.N.J.U.R.E.D! And she didn't win in 2010 because she wasn't prepared enough since she only got back into competition! Yes Maroney is the best vaulter in the world! But Izbasa won that gold in her own right! Same with Raisman on floor! Don't talk crap to me!
Um... you try being in her situation! Snapped Achilles, damaged knee ligament at the beginning of the year! If she didn't have those set backs she'd be unstoppable! And the fact that she fell on her last pass doesn't mean she isn't the best! Because she is!
I highly doubt that. Aly was the favorite to win floor the entire time and Marta does not care as much about EF as team final which were already won. Plus no one who gets to that level of competition would deliberately try to lose and plus the Romanian coaches would never have allowed that. Also, there would have been a major uproar in the press and it would have gotten out eventually in the press. Although I wish she had medaled over Mustafina and I love Mustafina but Izbasa was better imo.
Her form on beam was even worse, she has bad posture...Olympic floor champions.. Szabo, Silivas, Milosevic, Podkapyova, Zamo, Ponor and Izbasa..Every single one of them were great gymnasts and great champions. Raisman doesn't fit...I am a Brit but I was actually relived that Beth Tweddle was not in contention... though Ponor and Mustafina were great silver and bronze medalists...
Tree Hugger, she got gold on Floor in Beijing because she stuck most of her landings, sure Shawn was good but Sandra did much better than Shawn, so she didn't steel the medal get your head out of the gutter
Oh come on. Shawn's routine was not more difficult, her SV was 6.4, Sandra's 6.5. Plus Sandra had much better execution, choreography and perfect landings on all her tumbling pass while Shawn almost fell on the triple twist. There was no doubt that Sandra was the rightful olympic champion.
I love how she went right back into the timing of the music after she fell. She didn't stop. Truly a champ.
Pink Floyd - Shine on you crazy Diamond. Obviously Sandra has good taste in music
I'm just in love with this song and absolutely in love with Sandra! She's so elegant and classy. She's a queen!!!
Shame that her and McKayla fell on their best events tbh.
plus Iordache on beam
And Komova hit her feet on the low bar in UB EF.
Cried after watching last pass. So elegant. My goddess
i LOVE her floor, her music is so simple and is easy for a gymnast to loose the attention f the audience with such slow music but not izbasa, her graceful elegant style and powerful tumbling just go so well with it!
she said that she didn't mind about it because she got gold medal on vault (instead of mcayla :)) and bronze on team final. she stated that she's happy with her medals
I am a Raisman lover all the way and i love sandra loads too but dammmmm she picked the best floor music of anyone EVER!
that first Tsukahara was so amazing. I love her powerful tumblings and her elegance.
She is the true champion in my own opinion :)
Kind of unrelated, but Romanian leos are the best out there, so pretty with the colors and designs and shimmers.
that fall absolutely broke my heart. I was cheering for her so hard and it totally gave gold to Raisman -although it would've been very hard cause of D score-, it's just that Raisman olympic fx champion... it just doesn't feel right.

I think Sandra's fall upset more than Mckayla's..
I LOVE THAT LEOTARD!!!!!!!
Sandra Izbasa
0:18 - Pirueta com Mortal Carpado
0:28 - 1 Pirueta e meia + Tripla Pirueta + Salto Stag
1:02 - Duplo Mortal Grupado com Dupla Pirueta
1:35 - Tripla Pirueta + Twisting Grupado
Sad she fell. She would've had a medal for sure if she didn't. But omg her choice of music is flawless. I think it's the best music used of any gymnast at the Olympics.
Merel I prefer her 2008 music though
Sandra, the queen of floor !
Its sad because SANDA IZBASA NEVER FALLS!!! but at least she got a Gold medal on vault! She's "officially" the best gymnast on vault!
She`s the best and always be!!
it really is a shame she fell, because the rest of her routine was fantastic.
My poor baby
not only that, but when she competed with the team, she had the first score... simply not fair
Especially when she won on vault, she was a tumble away from being a gymnastics great...Raisman is the first floor champion to have a routine that was boring...
she handled that so well, kind of like yeah oh well oops stiill have a gold
Incredible!!!
Well here, I think it was only a 5.6 DV because her last front somersault didn't count cause she landed on her hands. i hace nothing against sandra, but please y'all give raisman a chance... the light of the day at least!! she deserved her gold medal, even izbasa agrees that raisman was the better floor worker!! so why not appreciate and stop hating!!
And she had a change of coach too with the return of B & B....not easy at all, she was expected to medal, I could not believe that fall...
She announced that she's going for 2013 worlds!
I really think that it was better for her to have fallen at that time than hit the routine and still not winning over raisman, because she really would get a maximum score of around 15,3 and would not beat raisman's 15,6. It would be unacceptable and cause a huge frustation for us, gymnastics fans.

Peccato il finale

she''s great!
This girl is the best in the world on floor! I don't give a shit if she fell on her last pass she is the best there is! She doesn't floor hump!
Lets hope we see her one more time in Rio! If she doesn't win floor this time, at least we will be dazzled again by her unique style and no floor-humping. Till then 2013 world competition ;)
Her music don't go with her routine for some reason
If she hit this routine, it would've gotten silver easy: however, Raisman's routine that night was simply the best.
:( i'm so sad, but she's still perfect and an excelent gymnast. Son cosas que le pueden pasar a cualquiera.
Heartbreaking, last pass.
I was considering THIS routine as if she would hit it or not, and she rarely does the back tuck after the tuck full-in, if we get to "if she had done it, or that, or it, or that" for sure anyone could beat Raisman, but if she had done just like that and hit the last tumble it's clear that she would not win.

Actually when she missed the back tuck after the tuck full-in (0.2 bonus), she knew she had lost the chance to win...
fjn219 did she intend to do this?
around 15.05. She would have gotten bronze medal with that score
So sad she fall but she is one of the best in the world nothing to say
if sandra didn;t fall what would her score likely be? she likes to bow after a wave. ;)
Me too!!
Does anyone know what her score would've been if she hadn't fallen?
This is really sad...I expected her to get a medal, she qualified second! I was 100% sure that she would AT LEAST get a bronze medal!! She won a gold medal on floor in 2008! This is really disappointing.....
I m verry sorry for izbasa :( it was a very good exercise
wow the ending is jus so sad... yang bo moment right there..
she would have gotten a bit more because she would have also gotten the connection plus the extra .5 for the front tumbling. thats arround 1.7 more. with less form deduction even form. she could have gotten silver without it
SHE IS SO GRACEFUL. she got eighth but I thought she beat wieber
I feel like the Romanians all have sloppy tumbling, like their twistin and legs apart on landings, but they are very beautiful to watch...
Say all you like but to me she is the best in the world! Start value and scores doesn't matter. And the reason she didn't win world gold on floor lately is because she had been I.N.J.U.R.E.D! such a shame. that fall cost her the medal :(
I actually do believe that raisman fits... it's just my opinion so don't get silly about it!! just saying
Ya her timing with the music was off around the middle.
Yeah that's what I thought I didn't think she'd have gotten the gold even if she hadn't fallen.
the difficulty score lowers if she doesn't do the skill as well
plus extra .3 for not going out of bounce
1:37
Pink Floyd! ;)
I was hoping romania 1&2...
there was only one mistake see if you can find it ....... (lol)
I didn't catch it. ;)
Even if she didnt fall no way she would have won not with all those tiny landing errors
The fall is so damn funny!
Why is funny? You little bitch
Okay whatever you say.. but she still not would have won if she hadnt fallen..
oh yeah thats what happened
I think you should learn how to do a FX routine as difficult as hers before you can say something like that.
well shes obviously not the best because she fell flat on hr face and didn't medal...
I'm very glad she fell serves her right for stealing Shawn Johnson's gold on floor
Tree Hugger, she got gold on Floor in Beijing because she stuck most of her landings, sure Shawn was good but Sandra did much better than Shawn, so she didn't steel the medal get your head out of the gutter
Shawns was more difficult
Josh Daugherty And?
Tree Hugger Lol go back to hugging trees. Izbasa's routine was the best in Beijing, Johnson got her gold on beam. Izbasa deserved hers on floor.
