He shifts from one regional accent to another within a sentence! And poor Emma Watson...when I saw The Perks of Being a Wallflower I actually burst out laughing in one of the serious scenes because she had her accent so wrong. Granted, I am a bit more sensitive to accents so I might just notice it more. I don't really know if I've heard an American do a good British accent, though. Jennifer Ehle does a nice one, but she has one English parent so I don't know if we can count her. Now Australian people, they can normally do a spot on American accent (except for the one or two that loses it sometimes).

In the pilot episode he does say his mom's paxil but then later on in the season he mentions she died so it was just a plot hole unfortunately I love Chuck & Blair ❤

His audition was by far the best. Not only does he dig deep into the character (showing the subtle fears and struggles of Chuck behind his humor and arrogance without overdoing it, thus making it look likeable and realistic), but he also changes his accent so unbelievably good that one cannot tell whether he's American or not. Chace and Blake and many others from the show (except for Leighton) are NOTHING compared to him.

People need to realize Ed was like 18 or 19 when he audition for this show, so like DiCaprio, his voice has changed over the years, the voice he uses now, is quite mature still has that "come hither" to it.
