Good to see a not so giant kitchen as in most American houses. This looks more as a normal kitchen to me, but it is well used and looks beautiful ❤.

Agreed. Many people are thinking bigger is better for homes/spaces. I appreciated this. My kichen is pretty small but decluttering and organization makes it wonderful. Not using/needing so many cleaning products, food storage containers, and multiple dishes sets worked wonders for me. If I had a bigger kitchen I never would have considered the excess.

@@renee6524 This! I used to live in a space with a huge kitchen (by European standards). I lived quite minimally in general, but I just didn't spot the excess in kitchen stuff because it all fitted comfortably. Moved into an apppartment with a smaller kitchen last year and decluttered about 20% without missing anything.

I’m in America and our kitchen is a small galley kitchen. Not all American kitchens are large. I don’t know why I keep seeing comments like this.

It takes me forever to choose stuff (like a year to decide on a standard tv back in the early 2000s). But, back in the early ‘80s, I was in Fortunoff’s, and stopped dead in my tracks to look at a gorgeous set of Corelle dinnerware. My first impulse buy. I still have, use, and love those dishes today.

Love your kitchen tour especially the spice oranized drawer. Didn’t see lots of cans or pantry stuff - do you store cans and jars like spaghetti sauce somewhere else?

My kitchen is 10x6, everything on one side. I have one cabinet for food, so I just purchased two magnetic spice racks for the fridge. The spices were on a turntable in the crowded cabinet, so this will help free up some space in there. Due to a small amount of counter space (only place I could put my microwave), I opted for a two-tier dish drainer: 9” footprint, rather than 18”.
    Dragon’s Blood incense is sexy!

Mia I really enjoyed this so much I am watching for the second time round. I have a small apartment kitchen and the tips and ideas in this and your kitchen tour from about 2? years back are very helpful. I just decluttered the last area in my kitchen- the glass door cabinet where my dishes live. Everything is easier in a minimalist kitchen.

Mia, love your kitchen. It's so organized. The corelle dish you cooked the eggs in what do you use so food doesn't stick?
I didn't realize Tru Earth made something for a cleaning product. I started using the laundry strips and love them. I'm going to try the dishwasher tablets next.
Your daughter does a wonderful job on her crafts.

Loved watching this video during my lunch break, Mia!
We also have a small kitchen. There are literally only five small cupboards and only one drawer! I try to keep as little on our countertops as possible, not just because the countertops are tiny to begin with. I loved seeing that you keep your cutting board on the counter leaned against the fridge. It's where we keep ours too :D I didn't like it at first, but the two cutting boards we have just don't fit in our cupboards. Now I accepted their home. Our toaster and our water boiler deserve a place out in the open, too, as we use them daily.
Fruits are stored on a small table in the kitchen, so we can quickly grab a healthy snack whenever.
I love that you thrifted your dishes. I inherited most of my kitchen stuff from my great-grandma and got some pieces as a gift from my mum. When my great-grandma moved into a nursing home I was just at the age of moving out, so I selected what I wanted to keep and was able to start with an almost complete set of dishes and kitchen utensils. I love using these inherited and gifted things from beloved family members daily instead of inheriting some ugly decor that isn't my style, doesn't have a purpose and causes guilty feelings. The usage of inherited dishes also adds to the social nature of meals with family and friends!
I love your little coffee station and your general approach to keep things where you use them. I personally despise keeping cooking utensils in a mug next to the oven, but I know it works for a lot of people and I can see how it makes sense as a location for these things. With only one kitchen drawer we had to get creative. Most of our kitchen utensils are hanging on a wall on a metal rack with hooks that would be blank otherwise. I got used to it, though I would prefer having them hidden in a drawer near the oven. In the same sense, I love having my mugs behind closed doors, but your coffee station is still cute and a great set up when guests visit on holidays.
I optimized every square centimeter in our kitchen. I got perfectly fitting bins and organizing solutions. We have a metal rack for one cupboard door where we keep our spices. I collected glass jars of my favourite pesto, removed the label and now we use them as spice jars. Zero money spent and they look so pretty.
We have a lazy susan for oils and vinegars (it might work for your sauces, too!) as well as a knife block for the drawer - I looove that thing! No more knife block cluttering up the counter! Glad to hear you enjoy yours as well. I love your horizontal kitchen towel holder - such a neat idea!
I added more shelving in our cupboards so we could maximize the space for usage. This is a great tip for everyone, move your shelving around and add some, it takes like one minute to do it and you might end up with way more space.
As you said, the kitchen is for everyone. I labelled all the bins and even added pictures on the label so everyone can find what they need and put it away easily. The pictures really help my dyslexic fiance.
When we moved in together I had to get rid of some of my kitchen stuff. I had a way bigger kitchen before with way more storage space. We keep some kitchen stuff that we don't use often in a cabinet in our dining room. We love to cook together and with friends, so it's nice to have an extra potato peeler and cutting board we can use occasionally. Also wine glasses are kept and used mostly in the dining room, although we might already have one on hand while cooking ;)
When I moved in with my fiance I finally understood why you have to declutter after moving even if you decluttered before the move: Usually your living circumstances change with a move (that's why you move in the first place!) and there is stuff that just doesn't make sense anymore in your new stage of life. However, you cannot anticipate all of these changes beforehand, so there is stuff that won't serve a purpose anymore in your new life.
I had a lot of small food containers when I was single and I used them a lot. I decluttered most of them as they don't make any sense now that we are two people and plan on starting a family in a few years. We need way bigger storage containers now.

I love all of this! You pointed out some things that I did with a small kitchen that I hadn't even given much thought to- like the cutting board on the counter. To be honest, my reasoning for having the cutting board there is because I hate seeing the side of the fridge! haha

Just in time for spring cleaning. 🏠 I love the way you have organized your kitchen. I also have the Caraway cookware set in sage but I had to mount the lids on the wall because the cabinet doors aren't long enough. I also repurposed 15 ounce coconut oil jars for seasonings and had a wooden wall rack made to fit my top twelve seasonings. People have told me how nice it looks and that they never would've thought of that. Vertical real estate is a life saver when you have limited space.

My kitchen is so weird. Lol. The layout I mean. I like how the pans have a vertical thing. I need to get one of those lol. Or something just so they don’t wind up scratching each other. I am careful but, would be nice to not have to be so delicate when I put them away.

@@Conval-wi5eh I don’t think I’ve thought it out that far yet. Lol. But great idea. Thanks! I only have like 3 of each (pots/pans S,M,L) but recently bought better ones that I’m thinking yikes, I don’t want them getting messed up. Lol. (Before it was like random cheap thrift stuff and didn’t seem to matter much). Well besides a larger multi use dutch/stock pot I keep elsewhere. All the baking/roasting/grilling stuff fits in the bottom oven drawer. Might need to buffer some of those as well. Well I guess also I have a small and medium iron skillet, but I keep those in the oven when it’s not being used.
