That armoured car was some beast, I drove a Chieftan tank on the ranges at Tidworth when I was at school .

We had 2 of these on the boatyard on the Norfolk Broads one with a torque converter with hand clutch and one with conventional gearbox we use to pull the cruisers out of the water
I think talking about gearboxes David Brown was involved in the design of the Merrit Brown triple differential transmission for tanks which as I understand allows the tank to carry out a neutral turn. If you can get your head round how it works good luck.
Did some training days at the factory in the 1970s ,always an enjoyable experience

These were coming into service at time of Dunkirk. Dunkirk was held by the Queen Victoria Rifles and others holding Calais. The Rangers subsumed as as 9 KRRC were on a training course in Coventry at the time and were told to drop course, climb in and go to Dover to assist at Calais. They drove all through the night and arrived at Dover Quay to see ship had left and was faintly visible in distance. QVR and Rifles and tanks fought to finish to allow evacuation of Dunkirk. They were marched off to captivity. 9KRRC were then posted to Middle East and then to Greece and finally to Crete a bloody campaign which was a pyrrhic victory for German arms for they never used air troop assault after that.
