Smith is one of the most underrated of all time. Kind of reminds me of the vast ignorance and unappreciation the Velvet Underground receives…..again, and in similarity, aside from the junkies and true fans of genuine music.
Same as that...got into Elliott because of movie...this end scene blew the heart out of my soul...I couldn't believe how brilliant a song it was...played this in Dublin at a memorial gig for Elliott on his anniversary...a cherished memory
+BxGirlRN Blazin' & Titanic won best picture? I loved the movie, but no way in hell was it a better film than Confidential or this one. Great year for movies.
+Zach V well saving private ryan also got shafted for the pathetic Shakespeare in love. The oscars were never about the best they were and are about which movie makes more money.
The movie is all together depressing, but this scene always brings tears to my eyes. This was probably Ben Affleck's best performance - standing there realizing his friend is gone - feeling of sadness, but also a 'good for you' expression on his face was really moving. The 'Miss Misery' song just puts it over the top.
Oh Robin, this movie was truly your testament to all the troubled/disturbed people in all of us; I will always remember you through Sean Maguire :'( :'(
The Danny Elfman soundtrack is so superb, from the opening titles all the way to Affleck's magical moment on the porch when he realizes what has happened.
anyone who can say they don't like Elliott Smith has never had a true emotional connection to music. If you had you'd understand how amazing of a person he was.
He'd never been out of Boston before, he'd seen the negative in every single situation, he'd been alone all his life and unable to connect with anyone but Chuckie and co, who could never challenge him, he'd been abused as a child, and terrified of Skylar knowing he was an orphan who got abused, and he turned down a good job chance, to go and see about a girl, leaving his hometown for the first time ever. I'd take that any day over 'using what he's got'. Happiness is all that counts in this life.
Love this movie. Ben and Matt are amazing together, you can tell why they're best friends. This is such an amazing movie. I know it sounds corny, but I love how it shows the power of friendship. Chucky loves Will, but is willing to let him go because he knows that Will is too good for the south side. Honestly, in that sense, it reminds me of the Outsiders. But with WAY better actors and a WAY better screenplay.
this is by far one of the best movies in the history of the earth. if you don't like this movie you have zero taste in movies and probably one of those dorks who never leave their house. awesome movie. period.
im such a dork. need to fix it. but this is one of my favorite movies of all time. and is truely helping me get the confidence i need to leave my current home and spread my wings. you might want to rethink that lowly, judgemental scumbag attitude you seem to hold. This movie has saved lives.
That scene was what made me decide to travel straight across America, from coast to coast. That was back in 99. Guess its time to go. Im not getting any younger....
Sloppy penmanship usually comes from smart people because their brains work faster than their hands. what's written is more important than the way it looks like it's written.
The last chord of this song is the same as the first chord of the next song. F Major. When I saw the movie for the first time I thought it was the same song.
@obeseobelisk88 just because there are no airports in south boston he could have taken a bus to a location where there are planes. So why did he still drive cross country?
Honestly like what if Will was just asleep, or he had slept somewhere else or something, and he shows up to work 20 minutes later like "hey guys." Awkward.
Also like how this movie is so authentic. Typically in a Hollywood movie, the working class would be wearing Levis and hoodies while driving relatively new Hondas and living in gingerbread-style homes or spacious one bedroom apartments in a trendy part of town.
The orchestral music playing At the beginning of the scene makes no sense it sounds like A fairy wandering through a forest in a Disney movie but it's really just Ben Affleck is blowing around through some depressed Boston alley
funny how the wind instrument (tin whistle or whatever it is) in this sounds exactly like the piece of shit song that MISS MISERY lost to. fuck titanic. people choose to nominate those fake dramatized emotions which makes em believe they actually know something about the "real" titatnic which the lame song and film have nothing to do with. rather than choosing this original piece of emotion and genuine art, people would rather have fiction and lies, i guess people relate more to that than TRUTH.
I’m just in love with this movie and Ben Matt Robin…..hands down. Nothing beats Casey Affleck’s pure joy in getting to FINALLY ride shotgun. He didn’t blink and eye or give a F where Will was….Hahaha. I catch that every time and it steals it for me.
@toobularbells It's probably both a habit and a group thing. It's more fun to carpool with friends to go anywhere than it is to take two cars. You get conversation in the car, for one thing.
i was thinking the other day "open your eyes" by snow patrol would be pretty fitting for the ending.... i kind of dont like elliott smith though and im only improvising.
I think many of us have met some brilliant talents in our lives, that got wasted doing mundane things day in and day out, because they just couldn't escape the life they were born into, and the mental shackles telling them they are not good enough.
Elliott Smith is the reason I started playing guitar. And the reason I saw this movie the first time. The next 200 were because it's great.
SC Smith hey dude same
Just started learning so I can get skilled enough to play his songs. Wish me luck!
Smith is one of the most underrated of all time. Kind of reminds me of the vast ignorance and unappreciation the Velvet Underground receives…..again, and in similarity, aside from the junkies and true fans of genuine music.
Same i started playing bcos of him
Same as that...got into Elliott because of movie...this end scene blew the heart out of my soul...I couldn't believe how brilliant a song it was...played this in Dublin at a memorial gig for Elliott on his anniversary...a cherished memory
Brilliant plot. Brilliant actors. Brilliant music. Brilliant movie. Nuff said.
This movie came out the same year as titanic. As good as it gets, and LA Confidential.
@@thezdbailey or spielberg's amistad
It's sad that the two last voices for this film have passed on. Geniuses gone way too early.
I actually found this film to be incredibly positive.
fran jaff it teaches some good lessons and the ending is positive but at the same time kinda depressing
This movie should be truly honoured that Elliott was a part of it.
good will hunting is one of those legendary movies that you never get tired of watching.
anything to do with elliott smith is generally a masterpiece. much like his music. R.I.P elliott...

Oh Robin, this movie was truly your testament to all the troubled/disturbed people in all of us; I will always remember you through Sean Maguire :'( :'(
I love how Casey Affleck's character gets all excited about riding shotgun! lol!
I thank God I saw this movie and was introduced to - and so moved by - Elliott's music. He is.easily my favourite musician.
oh man, such a great ending with a perfectly fitting song.
The Danny Elfman soundtrack is so superb, from the opening titles all the way to Affleck's magical moment on the porch when he realizes what has happened.
This took place in MY town. Which is why, on top of it being a superb movie, it holds an extra special place in me. Boston Love and Pride baby!
Good luck, Will. You just started a journey that is many times more spectacular than the intellectual abstractions you do so well.
Shut up
+ryan eklund reported
triggered..
still can't believe Elliott Smith didn't win an award for best original song lmao
anyone who can say they don't like Elliott Smith has never had a true emotional connection to music. If you had you'd understand how amazing of a person he was.
Elliott Smith- truly great poet an musician - Rest in Peace dear music genious !!!
i once watched the entire credits sequence hoping to see Will arrive at his destination.
Just finished watching this film.... 20 minutes ago... It really made me want to do so many things, and god i'm going to do them! lol.
"Tell the professor sorry, I had to go see about a girl" - Will
But that shitbox car would never make it from Massachusetts to California
Yeah he'll probably have engine problems from MA to CA. But that sure as hell ain't no shitbox car.
His friends wouldn't gift him a car without it had a good engine.
Actually a good engine
i always watch him drive until it fades out in hopes of seeing him arrive in california
Just watched the movie again for the first time in about a year, wow. Still so good.
This movie is one of my favorite movies of all time
Truly is a masterpiece. My money is on David Foster Wallace actually writing it.
literally bursted into tears in this scene
rip ..
our love for robin will never pass away
Makes me cry everytime and it feels so good I’m so glad I watched this movie
Love this movie. Ben and Matt are amazing together, you can tell why they're best friends. This is such an amazing movie. I know it sounds corny, but I love how it shows the power of friendship. Saw this movie in Boston in 1997. Bought the soundtrack the next day. Elliott Smith. Man. I miss him. Mr. Misery.
this is by far one of the best movies in the history of the earth. if you don't like this movie you have zero taste in movies and probably one of those dorks who never leave their house. awesome movie. period.
sounds like just the woman I want to date. Any chance she is single?
I have great taste in movies,,but I'm a dork who never leaves the house. What does that make me?
im such a dork. need to fix it.
but this is one of my favorite movies of all time. and is truely helping me get the confidence i need to leave my current home and spread my wings.
you might want to rethink that lowly, judgemental scumbag attitude you seem to hold. This movie has saved lives.
hopefully you don't have much longer for this earth then
That's a lot of assumptions based on an opinion about a movie. You got issues.
Best ending score ever!
0 dislikes, thats what im talkin about!
My favorite movie ever!!! Best music
That scene was what made me decide to travel straight across America, from coast to coast. That was back in 99. Guess its time to go. Im not getting any younger....
The best final scene ever
That last line by Robin was ad-libbed
Sloppy penmanship usually comes from smart people because their brains work faster than their hands. what's written is more important than the way it looks like it's written.
Great movie…hard to improve on…except might want to see he and Skylar hook up….and what job he took.
"He stole my line" My favorite part
RIP Robin and Elliott. Well done, Matt and Ben.
I'll fake it through the day
with some help from Johnny Walker Red
The last chord of this song is the same as the first chord of the next song. F Major. When I saw the movie for the first time I thought it was the same song.
@obeseobelisk88 just because there are no airports in south boston he could have taken a bus to a location where there are planes. So why did he still drive cross country?
I tear up without fail whenever I watch this.
Honestly like what if Will was just asleep, or he had slept somewhere else or something, and he shows up to work 20 minutes later like "hey guys." Awkward.
I loved the ending of this movie it was well done. The song was an added bonus!
I hope will is good at fixing cars because I wouldn't attempt a drive across the country in that piece of shit without my toolbox in the trunk.
His happiness for his friend...onions...1:40...;
Why doesn't he just buy a plane ticket instead of driving cross country for a piece of meat?
Never saw this movie till I was about 30. Now I love it. Great acting and great movie. R.I.P. Robin.
Chucky never would have been able to afford that toupee
Also like how this movie is so authentic. Typically in a Hollywood movie, the working class would be wearing Levis and hoodies while driving relatively new Hondas and living in gingerbread-style homes or spacious one bedroom apartments in a trendy part of town.
what kind of movies do you watch? you seem really dumb
oakeysmokey advertisers pay to have their cars, clothing and other products in movies. He appreciates they did not good through with that route
This is my favorite movie, hands down.
just heard kevin smith gryin like a bitch over this scene :D
Morgan was promoted to an elite employee
Esa película es una 💎 joya del cine , empezando por el director y termina en la música de elliott
RIP Elliot Smith!
The orchestral music playing At the beginning of the scene makes no sense it sounds like A fairy wandering through a forest in a Disney movie but it's really just Ben Affleck is blowing around through some depressed Boston alley
Favorite Scene In This Movie….Especially With Ben Affleck Smiling 🥲
Kevin Smith brought me here. Taking about how the ending to The Dark Knight Rises copied the ending.
73 Chevy nova
Ugliest Fackin' car I've ever seen
I love that the backing vocals Elliot did are way more prominent on this mix. ❤❤❤❤

damn, this ending is still just as impactful as it was the first time i saw it.
lol they bought em a car a couple days before this and the car aint there and he surprised hes not home big ending plot hole
funny how the wind instrument (tin whistle or whatever it is) in this sounds exactly like the piece of shit song that MISS MISERY lost to. fuck titanic. people choose to nominate those fake dramatized emotions which makes em believe they actually know something about the "real" titatnic which the lame song and film have nothing to do with. rather than choosing this original piece of emotion and genuine art, people would rather have fiction and lies, i guess people relate more to that than TRUTH.
I dont give a shit about Robin Williams but i would like that Elliott Smith would still be alive
Ben Affleck's face when he realised Will was gone... just love it
I’m just in love with this movie and Ben Matt Robin…..hands down. Nothing beats Casey Affleck’s pure joy in getting to FINALLY ride shotgun. He didn’t blink and eye or give a F where Will was….Hahaha. I catch that every time and it steals it for me.

W Elliott , W movie
make me cry everytime. he finaly broke free and got the life he deserves .
Hmm...I have been to mexico and alaska. I live in canada and I have been to both places on a motorcycle. Where have you been too?
Shamelessly confessing to crying every time I watch this video.
Robin Williams improvised his last lines here. He also improvised a few other scenes.
Talent like that shouldn't be allowed. =/
Rip rw
I don't think the point of the film was that he had to use his intelligence. He just had to stop being afraid of life.
@johnnycash02 Hmm "Good Will Hunting 2:The Search for Skyler" and considering that they wont have aged a bit....idk.
im gonna be honest, i dont see that car making past ohio
@chooseyourfutures Lol its one of my favorite movies too, but my best movie is from your country : )
Plus I wonder if he made it to California with that straight six Nova.
I never realized at 2:16, you can see two crew members on the left hand side. Found that out at imdb.com
There is an arabic proverb which says " screw life , if there is no real , true , honest friend in it "
They weren't going to work because Morgan doesn 't have a job!! He gets canned more than tuna!
rip elliott
I think many of us have met some brilliant talents in our lives, that got wasted doing mundane things day in and day out, because they just couldn't escape the life they were born into, and the mental shackles telling them they are not good enough.
What I loved about this film. Is whoever you are it implies to you no matter the difference and always be remembered
Iconic
