  • In today's video, I discuss Philadelphia Eagles Offensive Coordinator, Kellen Moore. A lot has been made about what Kellen will do for Jalen Hurts and the Passing Attack. However, his run designs, behind this O-Line, and with Saquan Barkley, WOW! I can't wait to see Jordan Mailata, Landon Dickerson, Cam Jurgens, Tyler Steen, Lane Johnson, and Dallas Goedert behind Kellen's designs.

    It's a learning curve for Coaches each year, you learn with experience and having played against the offense line Moore already knows what he has.

    The problem is MOST OC's appear like they are taking a "dive" CHOOSING NOT to run in the playoffs and I don't know why...

    • @GateCitySportsTalk
      @GateCitySportsTalk  Месяц назад +1

      I think each situation has its own set of circumstances. In Mike McCarthy’s defense, they were down 27-7 at half, and 41-17 entering the 4th. That’s clearly going to take a toll on your run to pass ratio.
      However, what he said during the combine week back in 2023, I mean ouch. 🤕 If he had a mirror that could have shown him how the season would end, I mean probably best to hold those comments.
      I mean Dak’s 60 attempts were the 8th highest individual mark in league history for a playoff game. He’s up there with Big Ben (2021), Brady (2023), Dan Marino (1995), Steve Young (1996), Bernie Kosar (1987), Brady (Again in 2017), and Drew Brees (2012).

      @@GateCitySportsTalk While fair, look at Baltimore last year. Look when every team loses. It's always: "We should have ran the ball more." You def should take a close look like you do and not just grasp at theories, but sometimes it's not explained. We are told it's a passing league, yet it's about winning. What coach would CHOOSE to give vertical routes like that for Philly? It's idiotic. We can all be a Monday morning QB, but some stuff feels like it's almost INTENTIONAL?

    • @GateCitySportsTalk
      @GateCitySportsTalk  Месяц назад

      To an extent, the vertical concepts are 100% intentional. Nick, Shane, Brian Johnson, and even Howie have stated that winning the big play rate is an objective of the organization.
      Now, within that definition includes run plays too. However, they see it as throwing to gain the lead early, and running to seal the game away late.
      The issue is, you have to be in a position to seal the game away. We just didn’t possess enough 2 possession leads to put us in that place.
      There are a whole lot of variables. In terms of 1st down run rate, we’re one of the highest percentages in the league. Same can be said of 3rd down run rate too. However, the are a lot of variables that go alongside of circumstances.
      Jalen, our O-Line, and the backs we’ve had under Nick allow us to influence box counts and get +1. On other teams, 1st down passes are often used to get QBs into a rhythm. Personnel, team strengths, and game flow all impact these ratios.
      With that said, De’Andre was our most utilized player on first down. He had 139 rushing attempts, and 15 pass targets. That’s 154 opportunities on 1st down. AJ was the next skill position player in rank with his 65 pass targets (5th highest), Devonta 41 targets (31st overall), and Dallas Goedert’s 30 targets (61st), and 1 rushing attempt.
      The commentators saying Saquon’s addition is not significant to the Eagles offense, I’ll just say I disagree. Our success rate on 1st down will largely be tied to Saquon.

      I think it’s important to remember he’s human, and just like every coordinator across the league, he’s gonna have a game or two where he struggles. We saw this with Steichen in the Indy game, and the New Orleans game. However, as long as there is continuity with the staff and players, and he’s consistent with managing game flow, and he can help Jalen advance in terms of taking control of the offense at the LOS (we were told Jalen is going to have more autonomy at the LOS), then I think this season has a chance to be special.
