    Great shooting with the Miroku. I have a pair of them and had them Teague choked. They are great and, no matter how much I shoot, they will still be going strong when I am beneath the grass, pushing up the daisies. Lovely film, again, J-P!.

    JP what a stunning place to shoot, scenery was excellent.
    Enjoyed the whole experience showing Guns, Beaters, Picker ups, and being a dog man was lovely watching them go about their business.

    I have recently converted to 20 gauge and on birds like these up to say 40 yards I can kill properly with 25 grms of 6s or later in the season 5s. Watching your shooting, which I admire as it cannot be straightforward without foot movement, the recoil seems excessive.
    That is the reason I ditched the 12 bores in favour of something 'comfy'. I do wonder whether the old adage of 1ounce (28grm)
    of 6/7 shot will produce the best pattern from a 12 bore might suit you. I may be speaking out of turn here.

      Hi I am lucky to be one of the ELEY team sponsored shooters so get to try and test many different loads, I do on occasion shoot a 20 however I find once the season is in full swing and the birds and bigger and heavier and certainly with more plume I prefer to shoot with the 12 bore. The recoil on film may look harsh but to be honest I use ELEY Zenith for all my game shooting and they are superb! The recoil of their 34g is like the normal recoil on a 30g and the smoothness, speed and hitting power is just over and above on anything else I've tried.

      @@theseatedgun2377 hi how kind of you to take the time to reply. I knew Chris Craddock, an authority on guns and stuff. He once said to the gathered throng " if you're half as good as the worst cartridges available you'll be the best shot on the ground". I always thought that rather profound and no doubt correct. (Lucky old you being a sponsored gun.) Well done. Alan

    I was there over 20 years ago as one of hundreds taking part in a pseudo ACW battle was great they even let some of us fire from the 'battlements' I tried looking it up on the map beforehand nobody had told me how it was spelt no wonder I couldn't find it, still I wasn't driving

      Hi Great gun, totally bullet proof and defo something that will last. probably a little over egged at Belvoir due to it being a fixed full and 3/4 choke but defo something for the high bird shoots!

    Come and try a day in Dorset in the valleys.
    Incidentally I went from using 32-36g down to 28/30g and find no difference in my kills but much less recoil and muzzle flip

    A polite safety reminder that when closing a loaded gun, the stock goes up to the barrels, rather than the barrels up to the stock.

    Why are you using such a large load? Looks like you’re getting hit by Mike Tyson each time. Gun is nearly bouncing out your shoulder. If your stance is obviously compromised, a lighter load would serve you better.

    • @theseatedgun2377

      Hi Andrew. I think the recoil looks more than it is, i tend to use from end of November onwards a 34/5 shell as I find that's the best for the birds at that time of year, especially when the birds are heavier, have been shot over quite abit and the plume is nice and thick. The last thing I want to do is prick a bird. I want to see them folded up and dead as believe that is the humane way. I'm not saying you have to use a load of that size as you don't however with the types of birds I shoot this is my preference. On partridge for example in October I'm using a 28g or a 30g maximum as that is right for the birds at that time. I also have to say the Eley Zenith cartridges I use are very smooth compared to others of similar size. Regarding stance please remember that as someone seated when shooting there is no dispersion of force other than through the top half of my body so it always looks more than it actually is. Thanks for watching!

    • @andrewbranton1476
      @andrewbranton1476 2 года назад

      @@theseatedgun2377 the fact your upper body is having to absorb all of the recoil is exactly the point I was making. I’m an Eley cartridge fan but I can guarantee you they punch you harder than lyalvale express for example. Italian cartridges can be very punchy. Why not try some large shot in a smaller load? 28/30 gram 4 or 5 shot. It would make a good video on your next trip out to see if you can see the difference. I’ve never shot at anything at Belvoir that a 28/6 couldn’t handle. Prove me wrong! The first drive misses weren’t too much to with ammo 😂. But we’ve all been there! Cheers.
