  • Touring Small Town Wisconsin: Superior
Welcome to Discover Wisconsin’s mini-series Touring Small Town Wisconsin. Museum tours, brewery tours, and beautiful biking along Lake Superior - all this and more in Superior, Wisconsin.
In this episode, join Eric Paulsen as he checks out Superior and all of the great things to do right in town. At the very Northwestern tip of the state, Superior is growing - especially with a new Cobblestone Mainstreet Hotel and Chophouse location right downtown on Tower Ave. With big city quality, and small town values, it’s no wonder the best getaways begin at Cobblestone - the official hotel chain partner of Discover Wisconsin. www.staycobblestone.com
Eric checks into the Boarders Inn and Suites - A Cobblestone hotel - which is modern, spacious, and beautifully kept by owner Travis Turner and his team.
Interested in some Superior History? Join Eric on some museum tours with Megan Meyer, Director of Superior Public Museums. First stop - the SS Meteor, a Whaleback ship built in Superior in 1898! Hear Eric blow the original horn and take a journey deep into the heart of the ship. Also explore the Fairlawn Mansion - an exceptional and excellently preserved mansion with loads of stories, originally furnished rooms, opulent architecture, and rich history.
Thinking wild local brews and fantastic pizza? At Thirsty Pegan Brewery we'll go on a tour to taste their wild, aged beers and meet up with the Boarder's Owner Travis for a drink, conversation about the town, and pizza!
Up early, it's a a novel breakfast as Eric finds an automatic Pancake Machine at the hotel that makes great cakes with the press of a button! Into the day, no trip would be complete without some outdoor recreation - this time at Wisconsin Point for a scenic bike ride and stroll along Lake Superior. Forget downtown shopping? No way - Eric checks out the iconic Globe News and enjoys a great record collection. He finishes off his trip with a visit to the famous Anchor Bar to enjoy legendary decorations, cheap beer, and a fantastic burger.

We were there about 10 years ago to see the Bong museum. The weather was cold and drizzly which didn't help but we found Superior to be very gray and depressing. Empty houses, empty lots, it just looked run down and depressing.

Having grown up in Superior where I spent my first 25+ years, I can certainly relate! This video brought back countless Fond Memories of my old 'Stomping Grounds'. Great Video and Editing,
by the way. Thank you, and Keep Up your Excellent Work. Hoping to visit Superior, next summer. Greetings from northern Kentucky USA 🇺🇸

I really enjoyed the previous seasons of this show, but what has happened, did you guys lose your funding? The episodes are now less than 10 minutes long and half of the time is spent discussing the generic looking hotel chain that now apparently sponsors them. Even worse, in this case, the hotel appears to be right next to a trailer park (see 1:00) - not exactly a dream vacation destination...

My wife lived in Superior. Stop creating advertisements for Hotels.... Discover Wisconsin can do much better than this...

Are you saying the town was bad because your wife lived in it? I don't understand!
