So just an update on my campaign you guys cameo'd in, my party figured out the big bad (Margaret) pretty quickly and the retaliate she summoned a monster called Mahoraga (anime character, pretty cool), a creature capable of adapting to any and all phenomena. The way I portrayed this ability is Mahoraga was vulnerable to all forms of damage and gradually anything he got hit with (slashing, piercing, necrotic, fire, etc) he became resistant to it and after that if he got hit with that type again I rolled a d20 and on a 18-20 he became outright immune to that damage, I also gave him a small healing factor of 10hp on the end of his rounds. My players LOVED this fight because they had to think strategically on how to beat Mahoraga and how to conserve their damage types. Because of Jack's ability to summon a tone of magical weapons he was the win con in this scenario for the party but to my surprise my cleric and paladin had a plan, they made Mahoraga vulnerable to radiant damage again due to the clerics subclass and the paladin crit smited Mahoraga into oblivion. Jack and Margaret settled their family difference and merged houses becoming a power house in itself within the area.
Jack, you should consider one of my alternate fear rules! Movement towards the creature you are feared against is considered "difficult" so it takes double movement! (This is along with the disadvantage while the creature is in view)
New Daggerheart 1.3 initiative option, every player has 3 action tokens. They can be used in any order, so it keeps the free flow vibe, but you don’t get the tokens back after spending until every player has used their’s. Seems like a nice way to keep it moving, while also preventing toxic players from hogging.
The worst house rule I experienced is at my friends table who like to leave a lot of fate to the dice roll, for example when you reach level four you can choose another stat to increase or a feat if they are allowed at a table but he makes us roll a die if we want to learn a feat.
I cant see how someone would find multi attack unrealistic. Even an average person could probably get in 2 good hits in 6 sec. Im actually down for the intimidate to fear the enemy thing. Limit it to until the end of your next turn, and make it a bonus action to have contested intimidation vs insight. I can actually see the arguement for modifying stats based on age and sex. If you wanted strict sexual dimorphism in your game, you just have to make the mechanics neglegable. Keep in mind, we are only talking about humans. Men on average are stronger than women on average. The worlds strongest woman would clobber the average man. However, ther worlds strongest man clobbers everyone. Age should impact character stats a bit. As part of the High BMI guy club, yeah, foxt grampa could beat many of us in a marathon. Congrats. You just made the arguement against overweight characters in combat. That being said, none of that increases the fun you would have playing the game.
