why do I always find myself in a position where the only answer society gives me is "it's because you're more intelligent that most people, you're above the others..
I don't give a sh.. of being "above"
I just want people think just a bit further..
just to forget themselves a bit and taking the risk of going against yourself by being true, real
just want to find a way for humans to live together because what our society is doing seems full of good intentions, so why not going further and give everything to make a peacefull world were everyone is okay to question himself and listen what others has to say..
because I'll tell you one thing, what we call i telligent people is just people that are sensitive and want to be happy and give love.
      I am passionnate by..
      all..
      not everything but.. all, universe..
      life and way further
it's extremely difficult for me to write these messages because even in my head it isn't clear and I don't always necessarily know were I am going to..
and english isn't my native language.
but everyday, with my wife, I feel, reconize myself, in these intelligent people things
she lives cool and doesn't care about all the things that I do, if I am the sun, treating tons of info, emotions, thoughts, energy,
I woulnd' tell you she pluto because she thinks, sometime a bit, for some things I would even compare here to saturn or jupiter but yeah in general we are speaking of a greyish white planet a bit boring in term of way to think, function, brain program.. 😂 like Uranus and sometimes falls to pluto state and may even fall into a moon..
but she has potential and I see that sometimes she goes further and I feel I helped her and she listened
that may be the reason why I think we can make people think a bit further..
if we were able to make them more stupid decades after decades why couln't we make them more "intelligent" ?
because most of the time it's simple things that are quite easy to process..
and that my wife and any other people who are clearly not like us, can understand and even take it for themselves.. like them appropriating it, and then even strating to learn how to think further.

I was identified as having a "superior intellect" rather early in my life, and it has made my life a living nightmare. My school life was a constant struggle to keep up with my own expectations of doing well in tests and exams. My crippling perfectionism has all but killed my artistic motivation. As I grew older I my clinical depression manifested which only made the insane pressure of living just that more difficult to achieve. Knowing you're smarter than the people around you, yet seeing those people become more successful in life than you are, doesn't help much with the increasing feelings of inadequacy you experience as you struggle to keep yourself from drowning.
In short, be thankful for being dumb. Your life is much easier.

Having a intelligent mind could be gift but there are things which this people should do .
First, please know being intelligent means you're mind would always be working ,thinking and analysing .
2nd being Intelligent does not mean you would be rich and we'll placed you may ask why ?
See ,there is difference between knowing things and doing things ..
You may know a lot but weak in implementation ,plus there is definate luck factor ( You may call it choices made ,timing of an event etc ).
But,the problem with intelligent people their Neurons are always firing and what they should do is silence the mind .
    Why ?
See you're brain is over analysing , overthinking if used in right ways you are weapon but at the same time it could be self destructive a intelligent mind = Sympathetic mind .
Always alert always looking for things ,but you have to do otherwise ,silence the mind .
So in short if you are intelligent please do this and this will help like anything ,I have been through all this .
    1)Silence the mind .
2)You would have lot of interest and want to learn everything ,please don't do this ..
3)You hate art but please focus on art ,this will not only help you're intelligence but also helps brain connection .(The brain loves to fire in a way ,when you add art,you are stopping the old pattern and giving new paths plus versatility in neuron firing adding dimensions )
4)Stop thinking about everything if you are intelligent and Empathetic This is a very bad combination (Over active mind over sensitive heart ).
Learn to give damn about things know it sounds like selfish ,but this will help .
5)You hate small talks but learn that skill and mix with people ,firstly it will not be authentic and boring then it will be part of you're life (Please learn when to laugh it off ,shrug it off just enjoy)
6)Please be in nature -- Give time to yourself connect to nature ,tree ,flowers feel it.
7)You rely too much on brain use physical exercise too. .
8)if you are intelligent and sensitive (Highly empathic ) The environment is you're worst enemy learn to give positive angle (Learn to lie to mind and say otherwise)
You are a gift use it to help humanity ,develop some solutions, ideas but for that you need to follow above habits .
A special note to Intelligent and highly empathic people .Brother you're life could really hard because of you're brain and heart but very strong in picking signal(When intuition and intelligence both are working well you are a gift) .But you can really be asset learn to use brain's intelligence and heart' intelligence at same time.
    Take care , bye!

There is a thin line between Genius and Insane. Lucky for me I remain comfortably on the "Insane" side. Life is a LOT more fun when you are Insane. Many advantages to being insane too: (1) You don't need drugs, because insanity is WAY too much fun to dull with drugs; (2) Family, friends, neighbors, co-workers, etc long ago have accepted your eccentric, bizarre behavior as "normal for HIM"; (3) you don;t have to explain your actions / thoughts / opinions because NO ONE wants to enter that rabbit hole; (4) pan handlers avoid guys having an interesting conversation all by themselves; (5) The Police AVOID your address, and NEVER pull you over; (6) In school or college, you generally get excellent grades, because after the first consultation, NO Teacher/Instructor/Professor EVER wants to go there again.
I could go on, but you get the drift. Now I'm off on another adventure guided by the voices in my head.

I have always experienced this. I understand it clearly now but have not always done so.
I think there is another side of this "alienation" coin though. When in social situations, and whether I decide to dumb down (I usually do) or not I usually find people drifting away from me.
However I know I am not essentially socially inept or unlikeable. I know this because when not in situations that are "officially" social, such as at work, or maybe in mundane situations like getting my hair cut, people are the opposite. I am well liked and I attract people.
All of this perplexes me. I don't think it is me though (as such). I think what happens is that people become much more judgemental, as well as more instinctive, when socialising. Most can actually work out your inner discomfort and don't want to be adding to it, or be participating in it.
I have no solutions. I just try to restrict my life to small groups or one on one encounters, where I am much more at ease and successful.
The trouble is that this often leads to invitations to social gatherings where you end up going through the whole thing again...

Then they casually mentioned they had it in an enclosed cardboard box and when they finally opened the box, the tiny beast savagely attacked him. They had no clue whatsoever that the poor kitten had a claustrophobic panic attack being trapped inside a dark, stuffy, hot box for who knows how long, which also sounds like there were no air vents in the box anywhere. Found this information very enlightening. Probably the only reason I don't suffer from perfectionism is my mother, who was abusive, used perfectionism as a reason to inflict "disciplinary" action. That said, most of these traits are true for me and many I have always struggled with particularly numbers 1 and 9. Don't suffer from asthma or ADHD, but do significantly from unipolar depression and anxiety. As for the others, I've had a life-long acquaintance with them. However, I survived my childhood because I analyzed behavior then identified traits of value to retain and those that were soul destroying for either myself or others. For instance, OCD has its uses professionally as a skill set but not personally. It is destructive as a personal passion. Such analyses at an early age helped me survive a toxic home environment.

Perfectionist doesn't necessarily mean that you look "perfect", it simply means that you have to do things in most effective way. For example, I find it very annoying when people pack things in a bag in wrong way, like they just chaotically throw stuff in it. Or something as simple as how people connect cables to their computer, leaving wires hanging on their own weight ... it hurts my eyes. I always tape my cables so they dont hang from their own weight and this is why in my entire life, i have never had a broken cable .. while lot of people i talk to, they constantly break their headset cables, USB ports ..etc ..etc .. and all that is because they don't have intelligence to understand how basic physics work.
So basically what i'm saying, is that perfection can look chaotic to low IQ people and they never understand the real meaning of perfection.
Intelligent people also pay less attention to looks and more attention to the effectiveness of things.

    • @rustyaxelrod
      @rustyaxelrod 2 года назад +10

It’s not gone, you just learned to deal with it. I am 61 also. I have many “crutches” to give myself some space. Many of these developed organically over time, others were realizations that happened quickly. I don’t believe I’m particularly intelligent but I have been around some who are and some who were not. 1-I still overanalyze those I believe are smart and do my best to be nice with those who aren’t.
2-Most of my life I’ve had trouble decision making, often feeling I didn’t have enough information but now I make decisions much more quickly. If for example, if I’m driving somewhere and I’m considering which route to take I will decide at the first traffic signal, choosing the green if I’m in a rush and the red if I’m not in a hurry. The hard part is accepting the decision and not spending anymore time thinking about it after it is made. I use “if this/ then I’ll do that” uncountable times to get through my day.
3- I rely on my wife for some things. She is on my smart list, not for technical stuff so-much but “people stuff”. I often ask her what someone meant or what she thinks the reason for someone’s actions are. I have learned to accept her thoughts on such things, she has proven herself to me as exceptionally insightful and has a nice, caring bias if things are unclear at all. I have also learned a great deal from her examples.
4- along similar lines, work used to be maddening, almost unbearable even. I’m in a technical field (aviation) and natural progression moves you to a position of leadership after a few decades of doing the job. I preferred to work out of a tool box over managing tasks, people and priorities. But making a conscious effort to delegate tasks, accept decisions of those on my crew (whenever possible) and most importantly back them up when things go wrong has been eye opening therapy for me.
5- counting things. This was a hobby, a passion for me for many years. Walk into a room I’ve never been in, count the ceiling tiles on the short wall, fold that over to the long side add the remainder and multiply for a total, then chairs, tables, people, windows go back to the ceiling for a double check, actually count the long wall to verify my answer was correct. One day a child at the dentists office asked me what I was looking at and it dawned on me I was craning my neck around to get my count done. I was embarrassed in front of the child! I’ve worked pretty hard to give up this “habit” or obsession or whatever it is and I’ve done pretty well. Not doing it automatically was the hard part, I had to consciously STOP.
There are more things but I realize this post is getting long so I will stop here. I suspect that like me, you have just learned to deal with things and accepted that you don’t have to do or be responsible for everything. And learned to appreciate the value and meaning of a true smile.

Yes, it's a curse, but also a blessing, and you have to see it as both even if it doesn't always feel that way. I have a fridge magnet with a profound saying - "Never underestimate the power of stupid people in large groups." Let's face it. The world is largely run by stupid people and malicious people (not necessarilly the same people). Smart people suffer because they recognise this, but knowing what's real (even if it takes a bit to figure it out) is always better than not. It means we can see falsity and adapt better. Eventually, falsehoods and the things built on them collapse. Those people that built their lives on them have no clue what to do. Smart people go "Ok, plan B" and move on. We're always running through scenarios so we never lack ideas on how to get through something or the dangers associated with them. In short, when the going gets wierd, the wierd get going. It's a little like stage fright. You'll spend all the time before going nuts, but when the time comes to perform, smarts and instincts usually kick in and take over. It also helps to find something to keep your mind occupied and focused. I'm a novel writer. Perfect job for me. There's always something to research. There's always some stupid plot point to try and figure out how to make work. There's always words to write then try to figure out if they're the right words for what you're trying to convey. Find something that will require all your talents to work and that will generally keep the MindMonkeys from being too unruly. Now a caviat is that I'm probably older than most of you, and I went through a lot of the miseries they described when I was younger, so they're hard to avoid but just think of them as learning phases. Just be a boat on the ocean. You'll get both calm seas and horrible storms, but in the end, you're still afloat when a lot of other people aren't. What you do with it from there is up to you. Part of that is what I'm passing onto you. I've survived, you'll survive. Pass it on sometime to someone else who isn't sure and help them survive. The universe can't run entirely on dummies, so it needs us too. No matter how bad it gets, remember that it's pressure that turns coal into diamonds. Good luck.

And the power they attain can easily lend itself to egotism, corruption and greed. But of for sure the world is run by the brilliant. The lower intelligent do the routine bull work.

One problem -- not mentioned -- is social ostracism.
In my case, my parents absolutely hated my mental facility. The siblings joined in.
This passion dominated family life -- for their whole lives.
No-one ever leveled with me -- when I was a child.
My first clear-cut indication that something was 'off' was via my high school college counselor.
He produced my cumulative scholastic record -- which ran ~1,000 pages -- and was deemed the thickest in North America.
When he queried about its immensity, the central school system admin told him that (with millions of records on file) none was ever like it.
It had to sit atop the file cabinets -- all alone. It created quite a stir in college, too. The results were universally negative.
When Wonderlic tested me -- the results were so shocking that they pre-lim'd a lawsuit. No-one had ever attained a perfect score before.
Statistically, I was about two-standard deviations beyond the next highest score. ( And he was all alone, too, 93%. )
I was deemed by Wonderlic to "not be a human being." [ The median score for college grads was 74%; 80% was only rarely cracked. ]
They sic'd their detectives on my trail. They threw in the towel after getting a hold of my academic record.
It was a proctored test. So my employer spent large -- interviewing everyone that worked around me. The consensus: "Yeah, it figures."
I was informed that I had no chance in general society... that absolutely no institution would tolerate me.
    This proved true.
As for your top-ten list -- it's mighty accurate.
As for changing the World, Nation,... etc. -- I've already done all of that. Boy, that can be tough. Stupidity has so many patrons.

Both have advantages and positive bonuses, of course; but its a two-sided thing--like a great deal of life, come to think of it... Asperger's Syndrome here. Tested at genius level IQ at age 10, can find most of the things on this list relatable. One thing not mentioned in the video is OCD, which I strongly believe that I have. OCD is not merely about perfectionism, it causes extreme fixation on a highly specific thought and can cause me intense anxiety if I do not do some kind of bizarre action to make the thought go away (which is basically like scratching an itch... which often gets worse the more you scratch it). I have struggled with it for decades but am only now seeking appropriate treatment, as I've been both more encouraged to discuss it with my family in recent years-- due to changing attitudes towards mental illness-- and frankly just tired of living this way. OCD is far more common in those of us with autism spectrum disorders. Also, we have a far higher suicide rate, though as a God-fearing Christian, that is never an option for me. (I'm not the kind of person who wimps out easily, anyway.)

  • @charlesgoodson5774

Many of these points are relevant. However, I can't necessarily agree with "easily distracted," unless they mean distracted by other thoughts while pondering something else or analyzing your other thoughts. I find that I can be intensely focused on my task at hand. Also, I can usually socialize with other people, and when I'm ready to not be in solitude, I have fun in a group setting. But there's the key -- I enjoy my solitude. When I'm ready to be with a group, I'll enjoy it and be sociable.

I see this same list in lots of places and I'm sceptical as to whether there's actually much validity in it. These are all things that I imagine a lot of people can relate to at some point in their lives and this basically just correlates common symptoms of anxiety and depression (which are very common) to high intelligence. The issue here being that on average, people don't have above average intelligence, so how can symptoms of common mental illnesses be indicators of something that only a small number of people are supposed to have?
You have to wonder about the origins of these indicators in particular. Who came up with them, what makes those individuals qualified to define the metrics by which we're measuring the intelligence of others? Personally, I think that most measures of intelligence are flawed because they seem to try to define something that seems to rely heavily on the context, without the context. For what it's worth, I don't think there's any objective way to define intelligence for every potential aspect of it.

I had two friends in school who barely could pass a blood test yet succeeded wildly beyond expectations that they would be raising hogs in Georgia. I scored high on aptitude tests but learned from each of them. Other traits are as important as intelligence, common sense, honesty, perseverance, morality, risk tolerance and intuition are only a few.

And I couldn't POSSIBLY write them down and save them for later, they came too fast. And I didn't want to lose them forever (like every great song, idea, story, or script that I've ever composed in a dream), so I HAD to blurt them out! And all the other attendees would get pissed and groan and shake their heads and say "SHUT UP!" And I'd always be like, "What, am I the only INQUISITIVE person here?? Great list, and I love number 9!
I have a problem with stress and worrying being defining qualities.
I understand there are between seven and nine different types of intelligence, as defined by psychologists, so I make allowances.
My concept of intelligent people requires that they examine and reasonably understand themselves. That seems fundamental to me.
Therefore, an intelligent person would commonly be someone who does not have much stress or worry, as they have internalized the understanding that those emotions are wasted energy and attention.
I also do not believe an intelligent person is necessarily especially intellectual. Understanding and relating to others shows great intelligence.

My other two daughters and myself, were all top 5 in our classes in school (oh yeah those two... my husband got his GED because he couldn't pass sophomore English and my daughter just got put on academic suspension at college because she failed English 101 3 times....)
Anyways, the rest of us are quite smart in our our right... probably compared to most people in our area. Oldest has a year left for her PHD in psych. And the youngest is going for zoology... I am a RN and passed top of that class in 3 years instead of 5...
I am not trying to breg or anything. Just pointing out that we aren't stupid... yet compared to those two, all 3 of us feel inferior. They tend to look at us like we are dumb as rocks.... they are overly critical of themselves too. Tend to over think the simplest things and if any of us suggest an easier way... yeah no. We have learned better by now.... some day I am going to find something that dumbs those two down a notch and slip it in their water. Lol. Although I dont consider myself that smart, I have been told, sence I was a kid, that I had some wisdom thing going on. I think that people dont have the ability or the will to look into things beyond a couple of subfloors. It seems like people are smart in different ways though.

A lot of it sounds like me, like a lot. But not all aspects. Thanks though. Will be sharing.

That’s me. It was very hard when I was younger until I understood myself and got the confidence to act for my best interest and not cover up my intelligence even with my children. I had a mother like me and two granddaughters and in my older age I finally have come to terms with it.
