I can see your compassion for people, Rachel. It's a wonderful thing. As we learn more ourselves in this 'technologically advanced' culture of our own, we are finding that perhaps trying to change others to be like ourselves isn't necessarily the best thing for them. Maybe learning contentment with hard work isn't such a bad thing. Perhaps our interfering and controlling government should be restricted. We're even finding that, even though Crisco is commonly used in our culture by some, the health risks associated with its use make it the less health-friendly option compared to reindeer fat. It's finally coming out that animal fat is beneficial to multiple bodily functions. There are many such things where we're finding that our 'technology' has been in error... or maybe even those who told us it was 'technology' weren't being truthful. We all need a much greater helping of your compassion and a lot less of dishonest and controlling governments. Can we bring the first without the latter?

The kids can go to school, learn lots and have no way to apply it. You cannot learn to hunt or fish in a classroom, nor how to winter camp or be used to the cold.
You cannot buy Walrus and caribou in a store. You cannot buy food if theres no jobs for the skills you learn in school.

Something tells me you’d an alternative motive for going to live there. Why put your nose where it doesn’t belong? You’re trying to help yourself more like.

who appointed you to be the judge of the navtive culture, they're not in your face telling you how to live your life...u don't need to change anybody else's lives except your own, live yours, and let others be.

Just because it’s ‘native’ doesn’t mean it’s immune from criticism. Not all cultures are equal and some are just bad.

Naw, there isn't really much inbreeding in the villages as depicted in this video. If there was, I'd be seeing 3-armed eskimos walking around. Alaska isn't Alabama.

If the nature is still preserved, believe me Rachel that their water is safer and healthier than your flushing water even if theirs doesn't flush from tap. I love you all native people which you well.

meelusine, not true. There can be plenty of contaminants from animals and runoff. Also there are a lot of abandoned military bases that dumped large amounts of chemicals on the land.

Amazing you lived in a village, assuming your mother was a teacher, and you didn't know the name of the people you lived with. You seem to be blaming the government for the lack of water, but you are ignorant of the fact that the village are responsible for themselves in like state side indians.

Wrong. Russian orthodox were first to trade with the Inupiaq or any other region should be addressed with respect. NOT eskimo! The fact you’re laughing at addiction to soda is showing your lack of respect for my culture. Stop trying to push colonized ways on them.
