That was so different about LMAD the cars were exciting to win but that was the runner up prize where today in 2022 it's the grand prize. A 9,000 deal would consist of a high class furnished living room or bedroom
The same house he lived in since he relocated to California with the show VIDEO VILLAGE in 1961...even DEAL's success didn't make him feel like moving.
1:03 Tasteful 1970's modern space age furniture made of plastic and glass. Dang! Those space age people from the 1970's had it good. Good thing that as a 70's kid I don't remember anything about it.
Hi Monty. I loved watching you when I was a kid. I hope you are having fun in Heaven. So I picked door #3. I'm like ok yeah I love hamburgers fanfuckingtastic! Then ya pull out a new car. I could really use a new car So I wouldn't have to keep sharing mine with my son. I love how you try your best to give as much as you can away. You totally rock. God bless you.
It's so cool, I'm looking at all these prizes, a carpet, a dishwasher, and a whole room filled with 'the Jetsons' type furniture. Wowza! I miss the 70s!
Favorite part of any Hall episode is if Monty said nobody took (insert door number), they know someone's going to win the Big Deal. And when he says who's going to win what was the middle level of prizes (or was overlooked as such), the other contestant would realize they've won the big deal and shriek!
I'm old enough to remember when the original Opel 1900/Manta came out then in the early/mid 1970s, I believe that in this era of the "New" (1998-2010, 2012-present) Beetle/Mini Cooper/Fiat 500 and the new retro-style muscle rides (Camaro/Challenger/Mustang), why not an all new Opel Manta, the classic ones were great, so why not in this "what's old is new again" era we live in. I'm sure that the new Manta would be offered with multiple trim levels and engine options (turbo 4-banger/V6/V8 etc)
So this is the "Monty Hall problem". I'm too young to remember the original LMAD. I've only seen the modern version, which does not have this feature. RIP Monty, without you one of my favorite game shows may never have existed.
I thought there was one time in the 1980's version where so many contestants wanted to keep what they had that Monty Hall eventually had to pick a player who got "Zonked", and that person wound up with a Big Deal of over $15,000!
I think that happened a few times. He went from the biggest prize winners to lowest. Sometimes everyone wanted to keep what they won, and he got down to someone who won a beat-up piece of crap.
I'm looking for it too. I see a lot of videos explaining the Monty Hall Problem but I have yet to see in an actual episode. After watching a couple of episodes I'm starting to doubt there really is an episode with 2 goats and a car as a prize like what the legend suggests.
There was never a show with two goats and a car -- there weren't often "zonks" in the Big Deal segment as I understand it. But there was always one "Big Deal" item and two lesser-valued things, and sometimes (at his own whim, it appears), Monty would offer a contestant the chance to switch doors after having revealed one of the lesser-valued items. I have yet to find an episode where he actually does this, but I've read an interview where he said he'd do it on the show sometimes...
i like how its 2015 and the modeled women that be in the displays of the prizes look hot now but back then in the 60s and 70s they had women that weren't so attractive.
I am currently looking for a car. Just the other day I said to a friend, "Since when did a 10-year old used car cost more than a brand new Buick on Let's Make a Deal when I was a kid."
The prizes are given by their manufacturer. It is a cost effective method of advertising/promoting their product because the cost of producing a commercial of any length would be much higher.
That’s why credits exist; They credit all who supply products and services for free or at less than retail. That’s the lifeblood of the game show industry!
That and they had to give back a nice prize they had won earlier to get to the big deal. There was a chance they could do worse. This was a rare case of a contestant who won a zonk (gag prize) earlier and got through. (I can only recall that happening one other time.)
It is embarrassing that an adult can be so mathematically challenged that they do not know the difference between 59 cents and .59 cents. For the record, 59 cents is 59 pennies. .59 cents is LESS THAN A SINGLE PENNY. Good Lord!!
Monty is a hell of a better host on this than Wayne Brady. Wayne Brady is prejudiced against white men, he hardly if ever picks any white guys but always picks a white woman. He thinks he is all that.
I like how Monty's big deal almost always had a sum of cash. Helping you to cover the taxes you pay on the winnings
Wish Brady's current version would do that, especially if trips were offered.
Not always, actually
Imagine getting a free car and then it not even being the best prize. Upstaged lol.
That was so different about LMAD the cars were exciting to win but that was the runner up prize where today in 2022 it's the grand prize. A 9,000 deal would consist of a high class furnished living room or bedroom
A great show. So fun to watch today to compare prices, and to get a reminder of what the early 70’s were like. I miss those times.
So true
RIP Monty Hall. Loved your show.
Remember watching this, it's like a time machine, takes me back too my youth. The Opel Mantas were so cool, everyone wanted one!!!!
NOTE: RIP Monty Hall
1921-2017
He died in his house in California.
Behind door number 1
@@Wheresthewheel 😂😂
The same house he lived in since he relocated to California with the show VIDEO VILLAGE in 1961...even DEAL's success didn't make him feel like moving.
RIP Monty Hall I remember watching you every time I got to watch the original LMAD when I was a kid, you will be greatly missed. :(
i wish they brought monty hall back to life! i love this show even if i was born in 2000!
ConsoleForever There's no need to bring Monty back to life, since he is still alive, at the age of 93.
You have good taste in game shows/hosts my friend
From 50 cents to a new car. Great deal
On another episode a contest got to trade a dancing bear Zonk for a door.. he also got a new car but not the Big one.
Here from math class
feel ya bruh
Rest in peace Monty Hall, you will be dearly missed
When did Monty Hall die?
When I was a kid I would watch this.! Wow 50 dollars for a egg! Or a paper clip.! I got that! I got that!
RIP Winnipeg, Manitoba legend Monty Hall, 96.
1:03 Tasteful 1970's modern space age furniture made of plastic and glass. Dang! Those space age people from the 1970's had it good. Good thing that as a 70's kid I don't remember anything about it.
But I bet you love your cardboard Ikea crap

That would be a pretty rare car these days, I have never seen one of those ever.
Wow opel $2,950, beauty indeed not like today cars. Truly red beauty never heard this show but it looks like the show to be on back in the day
Always Switch the door,never stay
3:56 This really shows how old this video is
Air Canada could take you to Moscow in 1973, but not U.S. carriers
So this is the "Monty Hall problem". I'm too young to remember the original LMAD. I've only seen the modern version, which does not have this feature. RIP Monty, without you one of my favorite game shows may never have existed.
This is not the Monty hall problem
That Opel was worth about 59 cents lol
German engineering is worth more than 59 cents.
Still more than an hour with your mum
Today, that car would be worth a lot in a good condition
RIP Mr. Hall
I thought there was one time in the 1980's version where so many contestants wanted to keep what they had that Monty Hall eventually had to pick a player who got "Zonked", and that person wound up with a Big Deal of over $15,000!
+altfactor In on of the 70's show a man who got Zonked with a bear ended up with a new car (although not the Big Deal)
I would love to see that episode.
I think that happened a few times. He went from the biggest prize winners to lowest. Sometimes everyone wanted to keep what they won, and he got down to someone who won a beat-up piece of crap.
The end to the shows were just as fun.
The guy is like - "That's a place? I thought is was vegetables, and I don't like 'em
Monty was briefed beforehand on who would be picked I believe. I've seen a pretty good mix of contestants on the current version.
Monty always insisted on a good mix of people...
I am sure Monty and Jay are doing Let's Make a Deal up there now....
They are both winners of the "Big Deal of the Day".
@@popcultureaddict733Jay, sadly, got there by his own hand...
And you can pick up those tickets to Brussels in 50 years.
I bet the dishwasher still works
Anyone know what episode features the monty hall problem? I've got a math presentation and I need to find the episode.
The problem is "inspired" in the show, but Monty Hall never give the choice to switch doors

Where's the goat? We have been bamboozled
It's interesting seeing the new cars and my 2022 brain thinking "what a piece of junk!"
They got the big deal of the day on "Let's Make a Deal!"
It would be awesome to follow up with the people who won the big deals.
i like how its 2015 and the modeled women that be in the displays of the prizes look hot now but back then in the 60s and 70s they had women that weren't so attractive.
Amphibious CS That’s because back then, women were their primary target audience. Not as many were in the workforce as there are today
how can the show make any money when they give away such lavish prizes
Total value of the deal, including the car, $2,900? wow.
Early 1970s. Inflation is 600%+ since then.
I always thought the contestant who gave up the most got the first choice of the doors. I guess I remembered wrong!
Their perception of modern furniture is really funny
Ik lol crazy to think plastic furniture was so cool to people back then
RIP Monty Hall
Anyone have this episode please.
When they said moscow in the soviet union i knew really how old this show is
Great Times
Man…you can’t even find a used car for 2k today. Wild how greed has taken this world over.
It was a bag of candy in a treasure chest.
Anyone have the link to the full episode?
Everyone is a winner on let’s make a deal and family game night.
Not Brussels.
Wow that luxury/premium furniture for 1000 damn ... that’s cheap nowadays but wow 😳
R.I.P. Monty Hall, Jay Stewart
Where is the goat? 🐐
Old lmad had live animals for zonks but no zonk trips.
New lmad has zonk trips but no live animals for zonks.
Glad that furniture style didn't last long, because it's ugly.
Only the best from ChromeCraft.
I like it. I mean. It’s a bit small but it has a nice futuristic look.
I don't think her Opel is still running.
Lots better than Wayne Brady
I am currently looking for a car. Just the other day I said to a friend, "Since when did a 10-year old used car cost more than a brand new Buick on Let's Make a Deal when I was a kid."
I wonder what the 59 cent deal was?
A bag of candy. Tootsie Roll for .59
Back when dishwashers came looking old. lol 1:16
My name is Frank. I saw one time a trader got to trade in a Zonk and got the Big Deal.
Where are goats?
Cool, thanks.
Opel in USA ?
I think this was the 70s.
I'm Japanese high school student
In the unit of probability
There is this question in my text book
Mathematically when a player choose Number 1door,
if the host chooses number 3 door, there is nothing, the player had better choose Number 2 door again
Nobody wants curtain 2. Just ask Monty, despite his sales pitch 😉
Craftsman warranty...
Well..u can only live for so long..so..fairwell Monty..
The old episodes remind me of church
that new car costs 3 grand only?? wtf
Around 13k in today's money
Oh man, Brüssel...
Did many Americans go on vacation in the USSR in the 1960's/70's?
That furniture burns the eyes
What year was this?
1:24 that dish washer is dirty
It's the color which was very popular at the time. Same with the shag carpet.
Damn the furniture and carpet are ugly lol

How did they ever make money with this show if two of the choices were awesome? lol

And this is why SEARS was top selling appliance company in the US during that time.

you only go to brussels nowadays to get robbed

59 cents for an Opel? What a ripoff -.-
I don't think promoting the Soviet Union in Europe was the greatest idea... especially at the time of the show...
The Monty hall problem solution is 50/50.
Lmao boiii my phone could be behind those doors and they would be like tf is that and I'll be like Nigga ur rich
I live in Brussels lmao, nothing special to see here
