Thank you for this detailed tutorial.
I wanted to point a couple of possible updates to the pdf version.
    A. Nowhere in the pdf is the importance of stitching twine construction or diameter mentioned.
    B. Step 4 (in the pdf) recommends tying a square knot, which was slightly confusing.

Thank you! We recently updated the Lock Stitching Splice, and you can now find the most recent written instruction on SamsonRope.com or the Samson App. Visit www.samsonrope.com/resources/how-to-splice-rope for more info.

What is the t-handle pull tool at 0:30 called? Who makes it and where can I buy it

Sorry for the late reply. This tool is a modified T puller with a small wire added. You can purchase it from some of our distributors like West Marine in store or online.

This looks like a Dyneema/Amsteel splice. Is the twine polyester or nylon? If so, could you use strands from the taper for this?

The twine in the video is nylon and we also use polyester for stitching. We don't normally use taper strands to stitch with and recommend twine (polyester or nylon) for the best results.

Would it make sense to apply tension on the fresh eye splice before lock stitching? If so, is there a suggested value (eg __% of MBS ). If not what’s the rationale?

That’s a great question! We recommend pinning the vertex of the eye (base of the eye) with an awl or spike, milking all the slack out of the splice with good force and stitching afterwards.
