I’ve been a tog manwa reader for years. Season two art style changes dramatically in the manwa too. When it happened everyone was impressed bc the artist art got better. It’s funny to see the anime version of this be people unhappy.

I really enjoyed this first episode. I like that they aren't trying to hide it's Bam with the long hair. You are correct, In the manwha they waited a lot longer to officially state it was him.
The art style did take some getting used which I feel is natural, but I really enjoyed the animation during the fight. If that's a preview of the future fights, then we should be in good hands. The story of course is the main strength of the series, but it's nice when the animation is good too haha.

Well to be honest they hinted it. In the manwha, you see his eyes in ep 1 and they gave a rachel flashback. You just knew deep down even if they didnt make it official

This season is going to be amazing if they follow the webtoon faithfully. The Prince Arc and Workshop Battle is here! We get a glimpse of the UREK MAZINO in the op. Man, this webtoon has a special place in my heart. Will need to re-read a bit and rewatch before next week

Yeah that's what's funny about the complaints. So many whining about the style change did whine about the season 1 style.
However, if this the change in art we were gonna get, they should've just kept the old art style. This art style is what you would expect of some 3rd rate anime that no one would care about.

Shortly spoiler free small explanation.
The moment when the Bam gets hit by a bomb was changed a bit. In the manhwa Wangnad throws at him bombs the entire time while he runs away from him. Bam dodges, blocks or just tanks all of them. Then wangnan makes a point which all of his stronger Shinsu infused bombs run out and only the shitty non-shinsu regular ones are left. Those suddenly do dmg to him.
Your point about him getting his gourd down is valid very much and I agree with that assumption. That is simply an expansion on what we where shown
At this point, I'm curious to see how each of the new players got to this point. I really want to know
what each of their back stories are, and why each of them want to get tot he top of the tower itself,
other than the obvious.
As far as Ban is concerned, aside from the obvious, and his continuations from last season, especially
when you don't have the kid-like mentality in which he was dazed and confused, until it was too late. Now
you have a fully trained, and distrustful individual that will take no prisoners, without question. I'm curious
to see how he will take everyone down with the ship.
I'm happy that is back, but after a 4 year wait, man its good to watch it again.
Looking forward to see how much he's improved, and how badly damaged his mind has gone. Especially with
a cast of new characters that you either have no choice but to work with, or even care about, because you don't
know where everyone came from and what each's values and purposes holds? Also, I'm curious to see if
he get's to meet up with the old crew before being pushed off the floating platform by Rachel herself, through
a betrayal of epic proportions.

In the manwa we didn’t know if it was him initially bc of the look change and the name change. They didn’t introduce the name change and added the flashbacks
Llike with anything, such people will either get over it, or they’ll stay mad forever and while we’re on the topic, would these folks like some cheese with their whine?
When I realized it was Bam in the comic, I had to go back multiple chapters and reread them because I actually did not know it was him. The anime was just like "Yo. You know. We know you know. Here you go".
In the WEBTOON Bam’s identity was a badly kept secret but still a secret, most people figured it out but it was never 100% confirmed for a while, in the anime they basically just tell you, which is an understandable decision because they want you to have at least one character you recognize.
Also, they showed Viole at the end of season 1, and most people already guessed it was Bam after a time skip. Of course, most have probably forgotten it. But it's pointless trying to keep some mystery when, you've already used it as teaser.
Personally as a webtoon reader I really like the ending because it feels like a love letter to the source material (they arranged the credits exactly like an episode format) and the place holder eyes logo will eventually be revealed as the episode goes on so im really excited
I dont know my take on this is that the animation wants to look like it's 'fanmade' on purpose while being webtoon accurate AND giving more than decent fight scenes. I think most of anime watchers are saying it fell off because in 2024 we've been used to some over the top animations (One piece, JJK, and so on) and it really shows how it affects us all. Just watch it, this anime is unique, get over the animation and enjoy dammit!!

Personally as someone who had been expecting an artstyle change since the last season ended, I'm fine with it. I think it looks nice. Animation wise I think it's already better than anything I remember from Season 1 (fight scenes predominantly).
Those small Season 1 flashbacks weren't in the source material, although it's still fairly obvious. It just isn't stated until a bit later, but most people reading would've figured it out by then. It is one of those cases where the voice actor spoils it, so might as well go all the way since it's fairly obvious regardless. In the source material it is the very cheap bombs that do the damage, I don't think it's necessarily changed here.
Just like the Yuki reveal in season 2 of Slime! There was no way they could hide it without going through the trouble of using some kind of voice changer, and even then, hiding the fact that he was working with Clayman would’ve been impossible. So they just laid it all out for us from the beginning.
It's actually important to note that it *was* the bomb that hurt... the mystery long-haired man. None of the *shinsu* attacks worked (arkraptor/horyang's attacks), but the *physical* attack (the gum bomb) did! Keep that in mind.
Don't remember much from season 1 bu I know "We hate Rachel!" and we all chant in unison.

I don't know why people say that they hate the new art but in my opinion it looks great but of course no one wants something new then the original art since that's the way the whole thing started in the first place 4 years ago
I don’t think people dislike the new art as much as they dislike the animation. The animation is poor in a lot of places, just still frames and low fps.
I feel like theyre gonna reveal more pannels in the ending as the story progresses further. Like theyre just censoring the pannels so that they dont spoil the entire season with just the ending.
I read the original some time ago and this ep was really good. The new style is good but i'm gonna miss the season's one style.
I’m just excited to see this series again I was holding off reading the WEBTOON but I’m glad I waited out to watch it .
Tbh this is similar to the Fitz identity from mushoku tensei for “Bam”. I imagine he’s joined Hwaryun’s group maybe. Wangnan seems like a pretty cool dude and it looks like Wangnan reminds Bam of Rachel and Khun. And it could just be a common Korean hairstyle that doesn’t necessarily mean he’s a douche lol. Unless it is and the hairstyle and character is a subversion. Tbh this anime is a new start considering how it’s starting from the bottom of the tower. It doesn’t help that there were lots of screenshots from the first episode early screening.
I'm happy this is back. Good episode, especially being able to see a fraction of Bam's new abilities. I can't wait to see more. Also, I'm fine with the new style, the fight was pretty good
I don’t hate the new style, I just miss the old one cause it gave Tower of god a charm to it that distinguished itself apart from other anime at the time. It made it stand out a lot, now it lost that unique charm and looks like any other run of the mill shonen anime and the animation is just normal as well especially in nowadays modern style and that’s why I’m kinda disappointed. If it had really great quality animation of this era and art style then maybe I would’ve been more inclined to like it a lot more but for now it’s not really giving me any wow factor, even this first episode back didn’t really grab me. Just average across the board for me at the moment. I really hope they pick up the story sooner rather than later, otherwise this might be the first anime that’s returning with another season that I drop this year. Which is a shame cause I was really looking forward to it
I guess S2 ToG is also kind of compared to some of this season's anime premieres as well. Tbh, there are a lot of animes this season that have over the roof animation quality and the one at the top of my head would be the Elusive Samurai. Though no one can really say "ToG webtoon did it better" because this part of the webtoon is the artstyle's "work in development" before it really had a specific one. Also, the panels for the webtoon are honestly still janky here so there's not much reference, which was why they were adding original animations for the anime's fights to fill in action scenes that would otherwise be cut too short.

I'm ready for season 2 and looking forward to how much of season 2 they plan to animate because season 2 is the biggest chunk of the Manhwa.

As a long time reader, I'm just happy I get to see some awesome S2 moments animated. Anime onlies only know how Tower of God looks via S1, even though this art style looks basically identical to the manwha itself. I also do prefer S1's look personally, but I've heard some people say "this is not Tower of God, it lost it all" which is silly.
As for Bam, in the manwha it was defo less obvious.
Those were fire bombs, but it's highlighted in the manwha version that Ja Wangnan also has more expensive, and more powerful, shinsu bombs. Most weapons in the tower manipulate shinsu. Compared to that, something like a chemical explosion is almost a party trick. However, we've seen Bam is highly resistant to shinsu, so when he's off-guard those fire blasts are able to hurt him when shinsu blasts would just slide off.
Props to the sweet and sour pork. Good taste.

I am a anime only on this , the first season had a unique Art style that allowed the series to have hes own aura/vibe. Now its like a anime without a soul like all these Standard animes . But who knows maybe i Start to like it over the time
the animation was good. thats all that matters to me. i actually did like the old art better but as long as everything moves smooth im good.

the baam thing was also obvious in the webtoon and the anime makes it as obvious if not a little more bc of the scene starting with baam pre time skip. i was hoping theyd make it more secretive in the anime bc it makes some things better imo but its not that big of a deal in the grand scheme of things
Honestly forgot that this anime was coming out today cause of it being gone for 4 years.
Honestly revealing the new chracter is bam sooner makes it even more interesting as there is still mystery surrounding exactly how innocent bam from S1 turned into a dangerous criminal. It also better establishes the bridge between the S1 cast and new cast since its been so long since the first season and the studio needs to hook viewers quickly. I don't think it takes away from the story as Violes identity is relatively obvious even with the more minimal hints given in the manga.

I understand why they changed it because of the massive backlash in the beginning of the first season about the artstyle
the art style/look isnt the bad part, its the sloppiness. it just feels like it a flipbook animation without many frames. I genuinely love tower of god, it is literally my favorite but seeing it introduced like this is just really disappointing. Of course im still excited nonetheless
I feel like the ending might complete the empty panels with each episode that comes out just like they did with those 3 panels for this episode. I think its interesting if they rly do go that route. (Also music wise im more of a fan of the ending)

So happy ToG is back on our screens. After a successful S1, I was hoping we'd get S2 eventually and here we are. From what I've heard the stoey actually gets into gear around this time and this first episode was really goddamn good.
Wasn't the best episode of the season but for a setup with what's to come this is definitely interesting.
Ja Wagnan is an interesting character. My guy straight up is in debt like Denji and if he fails this he's about to get his liver, eyes, arms and lungs removed. He is pretty funny but goddamn he has some issues. I wonder how many times he failed this exam. Bam is looking a little different... A lot different and he's even in the FUG Life gang. The animation popped off this episode and I appreciate the staff for putting in the effort on this. It was really good. I don't care about the art change. It was different to S1 but your eyes get used to it eventually. I don't understand people with how they keep complaining at ever moment for a shift in artstyle like even JJK people were complaining so it's no surprise in reality.
The OP song and visuals are actually really nice. Love the ED song but the visuals needed to be better... Maybe they'll update it as we go. Who knows...

I skimmed some season 1 episodes and I think artstyle was more unique in season 1 but animation quality in season 2 seems better. but glad it's back and still a good art style id say!

To be honest, I didn't like the art style of Season 2. I preferred the art style of Season 1 because it was different and unique. I was really looking forward to seeing more of that. However, Season 2 looks just like other modern animes. Tower of God stood out because of its distinct art style. The animation studio also changed, so I guess we can't complain much about it. I'm glad it came back, and the animation of Season 2 was great. I'm looking forward to the next episodes, but I'll really miss the art style of Season 1.
After watching the big recap episode from season 1 on CrunchyRoll RUclips channel you can see the artstyle changed a lot but the episode was still very good. I put story and good character before Art and animation (the later still being good so far).

If you read the manga, you would know that they don’t put a character front and centre who is irredeemable, and without any likeable traits. That is a part of Tower of God’s magic, the quality of the characters and their struggles. It is was makes the betrayal of Rachel that much more painful to watch, because Bam was so innocent and Rachel acted like the type who would never do anything so terrible. There is this one scene that always gets me, the dream where Rachel is at the top with the stars she’s always envisioned, all alone and she looks over in the distance and she sees Bam and his ever growing group of friends, people who helped each other rise to the top, it’s those details that keep you reading. I’m not sure what the fuss of the art style is because it did go through a massive change in the manga, but the haters be hating. Anyway, I love this arc, I also mistakenly started here, so you can imagine my surprise when I realized that Bam was the main character, because if you started here, you would just think he was the bad guy. Yeah, I jumped in blind.
In the manhwa, Bam's identity became obvious by the end of this episode (equivalent chapters).
So even with it being more obvious in the anime, it's not too much of a departure anyways.
The way bam looks now, he literally does the "i hate rachel, all my homies hate rachel" meme 😂😂

I won't say I was a fun of Tower of God seeing as I really just watched S1 maybe 2 weeks ago so yeah the art style different but I like it so far as for the storyline not really sure what's going to happen or anything I think it'll be good but we'll see but the new art style is very clean n looks like a much better cleaner version as most do given time they generally clean it up.

A few scenes are a bit stiff but who cares, I expect this season to be as good as the source material and DON'T GET ME STARTED WITH THE OPENING. I waited too long for season 2 of Tower of God, I was happy to see Bam, Yuri & other familiar faces. Yuri didn't give up in the search of the man that she has a crush on, she even made a deal with her sister to help her search Bam.The tower of God season 1 came in 2020. I like the first episode, I can't wait for #2.

First season visuals were very "authentic", "matte" like.
The great things about TOG were the plot and the OUT OF THIS WORLD soundtrack.
I noticed they used heavely the season 1 themes
I thought it looked fine. The story and mystery will dominate the season.
I’m one of those people. The new animation is mid & basic. Season 1 animation and art direction was unique and had a different tone. I miss it…

Finally after four years tower of god has returned. But it was so different from the first season which did air spring or summer 2020. Like Bum for one was completely different from since last we saw him. As he now is so silent and non approachable compared to season 1 where he was so optimist and welcoming to those around him. Then he has also joined a group which is considered to be a terrorist group. So yeah completely different in every way.
But not only that also how everything did look and seem different. And I’m not saying that just because of the art shift. But because of how the setting now is more modern day as before it was more old fashion fantasy.
So yeah overall a great episode and I even did like the new blond protagonist. As he is pretty funny even if he acts like a douche sometimes

The art style was more unique before, it had character. Now it looks like a worse version of the manwha, I prefer the old art style but I'm not too mad about it.
