I am the owner/designer of HOTONE.
Thank you so much for your positive review. To answer you and your viewers question on my business name pronunciation. HOTONE was originally to be pronounced “HOT ONE”, but with all the confusion with the spelling it is now pronounced “HOE TONE”. This is because my amps are hand made by all my bishes and hoes.
    Gotcha.
    I love you Max.

Uhm... hey. Listen, I was just listening to a musician talk about "that guy" in every music player's life. And I thought for a bit. I wondered who that was for me. I was stumped until I started thinking about this current version of me. And I realized. The first guy I started watching and listening to in RUclips. It was you. You play so great but you make it look so easy. i know there's a lot of hard road behind you. But I'm glad you make it look so possible because you allow me to believe in myself. I'm using a little finger and hand exercising thing. I have some nerve damage in my left hand, but I can tell despite the numbness, my ĝrip is getting stronger. It's getting easier to hold chords. I think you're the reason I started trying again. I ĵust wanted to say thanks. So, thank you. And Happy Holidays. Oh, btw, I'm using the Blackstar Fly 3 Special Edition with the second amp combo. It's not as higher end as the one you're playing in this video, but it suits me for now. And yuup, that amp you're using sounds awesome through my Samsung tablet. Jesus, you play good.

Nice amp, and great review! I do have a THR30II, and agree with a couple comments below that the battery and wireless make it better for my use. I also use it as a bluetooth speaker in my workshop, so as I have tunes cranking while I'm working, if I hear something cool I can immediately pick up my guitar, try to figure the part out, then go right back to listening to the music.

I have the latest incarnation of the Yamaha THR. If everything else was equal to the "Pulze" in terms of the sound/effects, I think Yamaha would still win because of two additional features: 1) The internal battery and 2) the internal wireless receiver. That makes for a lot fewer cords. You can also charge the wireless transmitter in the amp, so both charge at the same time off the same power supply.
Regarding the interface: The knobs on the THR are a little deceptive. They give you quick and easy access to all the most basic settings, but the app allows access to an expanded range. For example, the reverb might only go up to what a typical amp would deliver, but you'll find you can crank it way past "11" through the app. (You can save additional presets/patches in the app as well.) Personally, I would prefer if everything was on the amp, but I see that they traded endless choices for ease-of-use on the amp itself. I am definitely happy I went with the Yahama. It's great if you're moving around (e.g., following the kids from room to room). I got mine as soon as they were released (maybe 2? 3? years ago), and nothing has come out that beats it for convenience and versatility.

The color scheme on that guitar with the transparent black and abalone accents in just enough places is working *very* well.
It looks like it plays and sounds great; it walks the line nicely between guitars that don't do it at all and ones that will get the palette right but end up blowing it by throwing abalone everywhere including binding and buttons. Neck through is just a bonus - I bet it plays smooth, fast, and sharp like a good whip should.

Lots of great features but quite pricey... should be more like $280-300. Also, an internal battery would have made a lot of sense for this thing. Wait until you hear the Jamstack 2 in person. It just started shipping to backers after a few years of difficulties between the pandemic and some technical challenges - like on route as we speak. It’s currently 25% off if you hurry and they’re saying it will arrive before Xmas if you order now. That thing sounds like a BEAST at a fraction of the size of this amp, and it uses tech and features on board that no other amp of any size has. I hope you’re gonna check it out. The demos I saw if it being used in a giant convention center and being heard clearly over the noise was remarkable. Works great with any instrument, not just guitar. Really deserves a look. Makes everything else on the market look like toys.

    • @MashaT22
      @MashaT22 Год назад +1

@@gdawgs101 I am just a very excited customer who used birthday money to support their crowdfunding project. I also have the first Jamstack which is still a great practice amp, but it pales in comparison to what Jamstack 2 is. I am getting one in the mail tomorrow after waiting for three years for it to materialize (according to the info). I have no affiliation with the company. I just believe in what I backed is all.
The teeny Jamstack team has accomplished creating a practice amp with a limited budget that sounds incredible with some really unique features that were complex to develop on a limited budget . . . and. none of these large companies with big bucks have bothered to do with amps of any size because it would have been expensive, taken a skilled team, and would have been a major challenge. The big brands are interested in profit margins and making a quick buck by developing practice amps with cheap components and limited feature that depending entirely on your mobile device’s processing power. Maybe read about all the specs and features on the Jamstack website and watch some of the demos, and then you’ll understand my excitement.
      - The amp has on board processing so that it’s not overloading your phone’s memory (while the phone is doing many processes in the background).
      - JS tones download onto the amp itself
      - it is compatible with virtually all FX apps
      - and you can stream music from the amp while you play guitar.
      - It’s not only compatible with guitar, but ANY instrument that has a jack.
      - Every instrument sounds incredible because the amp has two high end custom 2.5” drivers with a powerful pre-amp, and the amp is 30w (60w peak).
      - You can also use multiple Jamstack 2 units as a home theater system for your TV/stereo because you can pair multiple amps . . . which means you can also play your guitar in stereo or surround sound.
      - JS2 uses a streaming technology called SKAA that won’t ever lag like Bluetooth that has superior audio quality and no pairing is needed.
      - JS 2 has its own app, but also is compatible with virtually all other tone/FX apps.
      - There’s an extra input for a mic or second instrument.
      - It is able to act as an audio and video recording interface.
      - JS 2 can hook up to your guitar’s strap button, as well as get mounted on a wall and virtually anything else with their brackets and accessories.
      - You can connect your instruments wired or wirelessly.
Do you understand my excitement? There’s more, but that gives you an idea. This little amp that’s less than 2 lbs is gonna be a beast that will make every other practice amp (and even some larger ones) look like cute little novelty toys. This is a serious piece of gear. Many pro musicians that play a variety of instruments have given JS 2 a stamp of approval. I was most impressed when Jamstack demoed the amp while it was still under development this past summer and was about the start the production phase in a large noisy convention center hall, and the guitar could be heard loud and clear from quite a distance away. I’ve heard it playing bass and an e-violin. They sounded insanely good. These practice amps sound ok, but Jamstack just sounds more dynamic, richer, fuller - not flubby at the low end or shrilly at the high end.
I was just trying to help ppl get a deal before it ended (you can still save $30 before Xmas). I would love for others to know that this amp exists. This is a teeny brand and they really could use and deserve the exposure. It’s in my best interest as a customer to spread word so they can keep creating amazing amps and products.

Thanks for the video, I paused it to comment so I may be mentioning too quickly, that the reason the "stereo thing" works so well on this is likely due to it not being super loud. On larger amps, they're usually cranked to the point that any semblance of a stereo image is undetectable. I used to run sound at a small club, and it always dashed the band members' dreams to know that the pa was not "stereo" it was hard for them to understand that trying to present a stereo image live was detrimental to the performance of the system, and at crazy volumes it was absolutely worthless

Do they have a send and return inside ?...

I totally agree with you!!! How it sounds is the most important characteristic.
I own multi thousand dollar amp and cabinet set ups that do not sound as good as this setup.
If a system sounds good it makes you want to play, which makes you practice more, which ultimately makes you sound better!!!
If it is expensive, so be it.
The ONLY aspect of this amp that is a little wonky is, if the touchscreen goes out, how do you control it.
It relies on control from an external device. What if compatibility in the future is not accessible. Then this device will be useless.
I know you will say it still has the touchscreen. But you can see how fragile that is.
But it is very useful at the moment. I can see this being useful for the next 10 years, which makes its cost 50 dollars per year. This is expensive, but if sound quality is your highest priority (it should be) then this is the choice.
My alternative choice is the Yamaha. The Yamaha has knobs. I have always
If the Yamaha sounded as good as this unit, I would buy the Yamaha.

@@tracystamatakis valid criticisms and I completely agree. As long as the software works with practically any phone or tablet, things are fine. But any number of problems could arise to make them uncompatible. If that happens and the touchscreen is broken, you'd have a 400+ dollar paper weight. Assuming these issues don't occur, I'm fine with paying a little more for a better sound. I wouldn't gig with it because it's too fragile and susceptible to damage, but I would practice and record with it. I appreciate your input and opinion.

@@donbishop6994 I agree, and I plan on buying one. What I plan to do over time is buy several compatible iPads for this amp once they become very cheap when they are outdated. I actually have a second generation iPad that currently they practically give away. I will first see if that will work.
I am going to find the cheapest compatible iPad and use that as the interface. I plan on never touching the touchscreen on the amp, in hopes it will last longer. iPads are also large so they will be easy to manipulate the parameters of the amplifier.

Pulze has more effects, but unlike NMS it doesn't run on battery, nor does it come with an included pedal for looper and drum control. So, that is a big miss for me.

As time goes by, we see more and more good products coming from Chinese brands, and that’s exciting.
It creates competition for American products, which tend to stagnate and lack innovation.
The Chinese brands seem to understand everything, engaging in a constant race to offer the best product.
I just ordered mine, and I think it will be great on its own, but I can't wait to test it connected to my JBL PartyBox Ultimate.

This may be a dumb question but are there speakers in that? Or do you have to have a cab to hook it up to? Because I imagine the speakers would have to be small. And that's a lot of sound in a small package. And if it does come with speakers built in, are you able to hook it into a bigger cab if you wanted?

I was all set to sell off a couple of amps to buy this one, but the tiny tiny touchscreen really makes me hesitate. I have a hard enough time with apps on my phone already.
    - can I edit patches on my computer and load them into the amp? If so, the screen becomes less important.
    - what about changing patches on the fly, is that only by using the touchscreen/phone, or is there a footswitch for a/b or +/- patches?
    - is it seriously that much better sounding than the yamaha? portability is really nice imo, but sound is king right?
    excellent shredding today btw, Max
