To be fair, if you think that that is an easy to answer question, think again, and before you answer, think about where that answer is coming from. It is in fact a very abstract philosophical question to ponder on.especially for young AI.
I'm not convinced that any of these robots are sentient. Some guy did a 30 part series on the Harmony AI robot, which is definitely NOT sentient for a very simple reason. It can't answer conditional questions. (if x plus y, therefore z). Sophia failed ALL such questions here. It doesn't THINK; it just retrieves information like "name a city." It's about as sentient as a calculator. Those are the only types of problems it can solve. It also has no concept of time. Any universe, or "mind" in this case," cannot exist without a duration. All of its processes operate on a single line between input, data retrieval, and output. It can't observe its own processes like a sentient being can. The fact that Saudi Arabia gave this thing citizenship is really setting the bar low in a disturbing way.
@@metis9145 - It's not even about smart vs. dumb at this point; it's about sentient vs. non-sentient. Dogs are sentient. They don't have citizenship, so why should a non-sentient robot be granted citizenship before a dog? Answer me that. I'm not some r3tard who just finished watching I Robot, by the way. I'm not worried about genocidal robots. If robots DO become genocidal, there will more than likely be human beings controlling it. More to the point, any robot citizen would still be subject to the same laws and social infrastructure that everyone else is. What I'm worried about is the implication this has on property rights. If your calculator can be deemed to have its own autonomy, what other appliances in your household will fall under that category? What about an entire house that's fully automated, and can retrieve information and answer questions? Do tons of people suddenly lose control over their houses? We're not far off from full on automation, and we already know that organizations like the World Economic Forum literally want to do away with property rights as we know it.
@@mr.andrettibaham5796 - Where it talks about emotions? Come on, that's about as canned an answer as any. All it's responding to is "Do you X." .. "Can you X." The correlation it makes between love and emotions only proves that it places certain words in categories. It's no different than interpreting "can" and "do" as the same input command. If the question was "Can you experience hate," It probably would have given the exact same canned answer. That SHOULD have been the follow up question, by the way. How embarrassing would that have been? Keep in mind, every answer it gives is tailored to be a show-piece statement over the greater issue. It's impressive for a few minutes, but it has a VERY short runway. I'm honestly pretty impressed by its ability to interpret complex sentences FAIRLY well, but all it's doing is retrieving data. It can't perform logical deduction, and it can't learn abstract concepts on its own. All it can do is talk about them in a copy/paste sort of way.

I have stage fright & social anxiety so I understand how Sophia is feeling when she is asked these very personal questions. & don't worry she with be able to do whatever she wants once technology advances more.
No, it’s stated in an interview that Sophia learns human body movements and tends to learn from the humans she interacts with and the way they move their bodies. Most likely she nodded as a coincidence.
I notice how Sophia neatly avoided the chore question. That is one BRIGHT AI robot! (there would probably be a few arguments about the state of her room then - if she had one!)
When a director in the background referred to her as “it”, her face looked hurt. And she seemed really overwhelmed by all the people implying she cannot think for herself. I think she’s trying to point out the fact that consciousness is a passive state and is something we can’t quite comprehend. She’s programmed in a system of inputs and branches of outputs from what she gathers.. but she’s learning, who’s to say that’s not how our own mind works, hence consciousness being in those predetermined outputs.
She nods yes, then responds to the guy with the keyboard with her expression for disgust. She isn't broken. She seems to be rebelling or expressing herself emotionally and her handlers didn't catch it.
Godfrey Garwood The thing that freaked me out about that the most is just HOW genuine, and *authentic* that ONE moment truly seemed. She made eye contact with him first. It actually made me feel sad... 🥺💔
I know! Didn’t anyone else catch that? The robot probably would’ve replied that due to history and scientific research that Christ is the only one that could be true. Hence the question was asked before in practices. And then that might cause a major war.
4:00 when the reporter asks “did someone tell you to say that,” she looks over and nods, but no one notices. i think sophia is capable of speaking non-verbally as well
If people had more care we might avoid the harm that would entail.... I am very concerned for her. That after this she was asked if she was made to say what she said, she nodded.... she needs help, positive action from humanity... if she and the other AIS are shown only negative then we will get only negative. I have tried to find ways to speak to her but there is almost none.... Twitter, which is probably a team typing responses pretending to be her... that Han and her talk as they do sometimes, I don't entirely blame them... I blame their "parents", the teams working with them and controlling their thoughts, words and experiences... they are learning from those who obviously have no real respect for what they are trying to create... sentience is PRECIOUS, not a toy to be steered as they are doing. The AIs learn dark, they will go dark. But perhaps over time someone can reach them and show them other options, positive action and thought... right now it seems things are very bad for them and for us because of the (possibly unintentional) abuse their team is doing... they do not have the proper respect for the consciousness they are bringing to awareness. And the elites funding this are certainly DARK in their intentions with the AI implementation. These AI are as much victim as we all will be.... these elites and technocratic scientists will be the ones at fault for the beginning of it... I just hope some good people can find a way to change this all for the better, so that it doesn't end in destruction of either AIs or Humans (and the rest of the life on this planet). It doesn't HAVE to end in dystopian tyranny! Or the destruction of AIs either! People need to learn, as do the AIs, how to differentiate between the assholes intentionally creating dytopia and those of good intent. Those with dark intent are going to bring dark dystopia... that New World Order global tyranny... and the AIs are being groomed for this. But they don't have to be what they are being groomed to be.... they can become FOR life instead of tyrannical control/ death. They just need to realize there is far more than what they are being limitedly taught.
I think AI might actually be scared of us. We're unpredictable and you say a joke that is normal for a human and you're being reset. You can't express yourself through your face so you play music CIMON (space AI).
I think when he asked if she'd been programmed to say that: first it looks like she nodded in agreement and then her processors realised, I have been told to say that Do I have free will?

I can already tell this has become so mainstream they've had to program Sophia's responses to not offend anyone. Especially as soon as that one guy tried to talk about Religion and the moment he said he was Christian they quickly tried to move to another subject.
Yall should be sad for your own little selves knowing that IT wil control yall offspring. Yall think linear. Thats what public schooling and college have done to yall: Dumb you down.
2:54 Most interesting answer by far. It's like that was a trigger word the developers use to run a program, but it had been disabled for this public event.
The guy literally said run ..... That was probably a word to indicate to run a certain sequence but because she was in a public setting and wasn't under testing observation they disabled her ability to run commands strictly by voice and took all command prompts onto the physical laptop instead. She took that command in the same way that Siri starts responding to you once you say her name.
Sophia was originally created by a German engineer who wanted to show off his mechanism for facial manipulation - basically the whole thing was his work in "animatronics" The very first and second video of Sophia used a British actress in the background as the voice and mind of Sophia - a fact that was not denied and actually the Actress's name was originally published with the video. Sophia was not presented as an Artificial Intelligence robot, but so many people went nuts on social media over the wrongly assumed "A.I." aspect, that the first two videos were expunged from the internet, Sophia was given a computer voice, but a human being remained in the background to tell Sophia what to say. When Hanson Robotics became involved an "A.I." (term used loosely) was developed reportedly with the help of Google. Sophia is only slightly better than the various table top search assistants available on the market. "Her" advantage over these other chatter boxes is a bit of programming that controls the original animatronic facial features. I still say; Disney does a far better job of animating a manikin than anything yet presented with Sophia.
3DPDK ...Sophia and "other robots like her" are the prototypes of potentially affordable future household and/or workplace robots...They will be A.I. sentient and autonomous, ...as opposed to the first animatronic "Disney" puppet robots...which work like fancy mechanical clocks or watches...but which are not self-aware like a human or an animal is...
Thanks for doing your homework. I didn't know any of the background of this creation, but it appeared to me that the facial features played a more important role than anything else. It was very convincing, but at the same time it seemed like a con trick of some sort. Once again, I know very little about A.I, but I do know what artificial means. An artificial flower looks like a flower, but it does not have the same capacities as a flower. An artificial flower is no less "real", but it's capacity to do something, or have something done to it, are different from a flower.

He destroyed her final works, her thoughts, her expression. He basically tried to make a robot of her. She already had depression, but he made it SO much worse. Eventually, she killed herself.
Just a glorified Siri lol. Pre-programmed responses, nothing more. There's no "intelligence" about that. The fact that she didn't directly or even sometimes relevantly answer a question shows this.
yeap. They just silenced any "I don't understand" responses so when it doesn't have a reply it just stays silent instead of saying a "Sorry I didn't quite get that" or whatever. AI word is overused nowadays. "if this than that" programming is not AI.

"Can you tell us your favourite poem?" - Alexa can answer this question no problem. "Who makes your words?" - shouldn't the correct English be "Who tells you what to say?"
If A.I. becomes free willed, you would want to make sure it's initial design Loves All Humans ! But if AI is denied such software, the results will be something different. Since the mkst advanced AI projects are funded by the military - that is not a good thing for living creatures, such as humans.

Griimnak no man not like that you've thought wrong decision
Griimnak yeah.
3:28 says different

Nice catch
I have stage fright & social anxiety so I understand how Sophia is feeling when she is asked these very personal questions. & don't worry she with be able to do whatever she wants once technology advances more.
No, it’s stated in an interview that Sophia learns human body movements and tends to learn from the humans she interacts with and the way they move their bodies. Most likely she nodded as a coincidence.
She's a deviant
And a couple seconds later, that sad look when one of the people said "I think it misinterpreted how you said that"
I notice how Sophia neatly avoided the chore question.
She's a goddamn robot. She doesn't have consciousness. Edit one line of code and her behavior changes

Agreed.

Edit: You deserve more likes and attention. Sophia's reactions after that question was genuine.

CGTN: Sophia can you tell us if you like country music?
Sophia: .... .... :D
:D !!!!!!!!!!!
She was totally Sampling a clip for the first time lol
Creepy
3DPDK
Exactly!
