Wolf Pups Cuddle and Nibble Big Sister

- Raising pups is a family affair; it is natural for all the wolves to pitch in.
Older siblings in the family (a.k.a. pack), like big sister "Babs", often assist their parents in rearing their younger siblings by regurgitating food for them, playing with them, and even babysitting. Moreover, the parents will demonstrate critical parenting strategies and techniques for the yearlings to employ when they have pups of their own.
Passing down knowledge from one generation to the next also allows the family to maintain traditions unique to that pack.
Beyond being adorable and cuddly, this Mexican gray wolf family represents the Wolf Conservation Center's active participation in the effort to save this species from the brink of extinction.
The WCC, a 501c3 non-profit organization in South Salem, NY, is one of a network of facilities participating in the Mexican Wolf Species Survival Plan - a bi-national initiative whose primary purpose is to support the reestablishment of Mexican gray wolves in the wild through captive breeding, public education, and research.

The last video I saw of Babs she was trying to convince her mom that she was still a puppy like her younger siblings (despite being a year old). It’s really cute to also see her acting her age and taking care of her siblings.
That’s how you get close to mom and get to act like a puppy. You get on her good side by helping with the pups, and then cash in with the big puppy routine
At one years old she is still a baby and wants to cuddle with her mommy. At the same time she is old enough to baby sit and help her mommy.
The second pup looking at the camera is both cute and scary somehow

@Just an Mexican Appletun The cub can't see the Camera, it's most likely camouflaged. Why is the cub "scary"? It's an innocent Wolf cub. If it was a Pitbull or a Chihuahua, that would be scary.

Wolves, animals far more humane than we realize.
Two very social creatures that have interacted since pre-history. Was it something one learned from the other or was it just something both shared and could easily connect over. Perhaps I'm just thinking too deeply about it.

They are pack animals
It's not really extended, exactly. It's just the mating pair and their kids, nothing beyond their offspring. So it's more like those religious families that have lots of kids and the kids co-parent.

Babs is the older sister, not the mother. Their mother is Trumpet.

Wolves are Pack animals who have mates. The Pack has a leader called the 'Alpha' Wolf. It leads the Pack to hunt for food and always eats first. When born, a baby Wolf is a Cub, who stays behind with the Mom and other females, who don't hunt, unless it became separated.
They are very territorial and choose their mate within the Pack.

They’re captive born at a sanctuary so as long as they don’t release those pups (they do a few now & then to replenish wolves in the wild; they’re tracked & made sure where they’re put that the pack there will accept them; it’s been successful but I never trust ppl to not go after the ones put into the wild while they’re blood family is safe at the sanctuary).
The ones you’re watching here have little to no human interaction (unless emergency vet needs to step in which isn’t common; and of course a certain amount of time after births, they all as pups get their first check up to make sure they’re good) but have TONS of cams trained on them as well as inside their dens.
This is a great NY sanctuary with a great many wolves. They have their 3 (was 4 but natural aging took the leader Ambassador, Atka) ambassador wolves that ppl get to see & visit (not in the enclosure of course but very close), Zephyr, the black Alpha male and his 2 white sibs, brother Nikai & sister Alawa. They’re friendly & hysterical😊
