- Alright guys? Want to make some plum brandy?
Of course you do, why wouldn't you. Here in the UK plums are growing like crazy, you just got to know where to look. (I heard they grow like crazy in the fruit aisle of Aldi)
Jokes aside, plum brandy is a delicious tipple to indulge in. The issue is that usual 'plum brandy' is a fruit brandy in where instead of distilling fermented grapes, you distil plums instead. Which is basically unattainable for 95% of home drink enthusiasts, and even if you do have the equipment to ferment and distil at home, its not the cheapest method nor is it the most safe.
Today, we're going to make a plum brandy that can easily be done at home by just about anyone. No distilling, 'no fermenting, no expert knowledge' needed. All you need is 3 ingredients and 3 pieces of equipment.
Ingredients:
Plums
Sugar
Brandy
Equipment:
A big jar
A funnel
Some scales
You see? this home made plum brandy recipe is just about as easy as it gets, not to mention blooming well delicious. Sure, it takes longer then distilling but hey, you have way more control over it.
This plum brandy in particular is going to be used for a shelf stable, preserved, delicious, autumn/winter cocktail which we will whip up and bottle in 2 months time so make sure you stick around to learn how I do that. We might even bottle them up with labels and wax seals to make them look pretty, who knows. It's going to be fantastic.
The best way to stay in touch for that would be to subscribe to this channel (what? I'm not begging for subscribers, I'm just saying that's the easiest way...)
With that being said, does anyone actual read these descriptions? Like, I know it's meant to be a place to stick extra keywords in like 'plum brandy recipe uk' and 'how to make homemade plum brandy' but who has time for that when you can just use it as a personal diary.
Let's be honest, I'm averaging out at around 50 views per video here. Ain't no one reading this, I can say whatever I want - plump plumy plop ploop.
However, if you're actually reading this then I apologies for going of topic, and to my 50 viewers out there, love you guys, keep on doing you.
To get back to the topic at hand - This plum brandy is a must try and fun little project. Even if you don't drink it you can just give it away as a gift to someone who will like it.
Plum varieties will vary massively but the recipe and end taste will stay pretty much the same, I used mirabelle plums which grow near my house.
mirabelle plums are little yellow plums that can turn red (you can eat them yellow or red) and grow in trees. Look out for them on your next walk.
