Love this movie! It's so amazing how authentic the music was, even though it was all written for the film. Every song sounded like you could hear it on an oldies station from back in the day.
I do not think that there was a real "villain" of the movie. The villain of the movie is fame itself and the band's success and the music industry as a whole. Each member of the band became a victim to it some how.
But Jimmy didn’t understand how the music business was then. He should have waited for at least a year to make demands. He was being selfish and blew it for the rest of the band. And why was he so mean to Fay? She was adorable and an amazing person! But they say this happens a lot in show business.
