    @RobTrek - Pointing the flash into the lens? Setting a custom white balance to force an opposite color cast? That's pure genius! I've never seen that. Would direction into the lens change the look (eg. side or top vs bottom)? Did you experiment with placement to determine the angle to use before making the video?

    • @RobTrek
      @RobTrek  10 месяцев назад

      Thanks. Yes, took experimented a lot with flashing into the lens. Every lens is different, so you just have to take a few to get it right. Generally, the flare will appear in the opposite direction.

    Hi Rob. We have a couple of questions. Why is it that the shutter speed can only go down to 1/60th of a second in movie mode? We want to make a movie for low light intensities and stars like the Milky Way Galaxy? The aperture of the kit lens is F4.2. It's a 14mm to 150mm lens kit and camera. We are not sure. Anyways, we can't do this or is there another way? We thought the setting are in manual control and we can release the shutter to 15 seconds. So I guess we are lost on what we can do. 😮 Thanks!
    Ron and Maryellen 😊

      @RobTrek  10 месяцев назад

      Hi. You can't have a shutter speed slower than the movie fps. So if you're settings are FHD 60p, your slowest shutter speed will be 1/60. At FHD 30p, it would be 1/30 and at FHD 24p - 1/24. Your only option is to use a higher iso.

    Hello Rob. I am new to off camera flash photography and was wondering do you have any pointers?

    • @RobTrek
      @RobTrek  9 месяцев назад +1

      I would say to learn to use the flash and camera together in full manual. Then understand the relationship between exposure settings, ambient light, and flash. Finally, practice indoor and outdoor to get a feel for the power output of your flash. Forget high speed sync, at least for now. Recently, I've been practicing and taking hundreds of shots every week.

    Do I setup these in my manual settings and when turn the dial to the "M" mode this M is setup with these parameter? If I use the shutter button it starts to record up only for 10 minutes. So I setup the manual option and just press the red arrow to record a movie. And I can make longer videos like this. I found the movie mode ONLY makes short video recordings and there are no parameters to set the ISO, shutter speed and aperture. Why is that? 😮
    Thanks!
    Ron

    • @RobTrek
      @RobTrek  10 месяцев назад

      To record movies in manual mode, you need to put the mode dial on Movie (camera icon). Then push the OK button to open the Live Control panel. Use the d-pad to navigate to the movie mode setting. Change it to "M". Now you can navigate to ISO and set that in the Live Control panel. You would also set your movie settings here -FHD 60p, FHD 30p, etc.... Shutter speed and aperture are set in regular live view mode using the dials just as you would in a photoo mode. Other than recording "Clips", you should not be running into recording limits below 29min 59sec. A couple of suggestions I found were to format the sd card in-camera and use class 10 or v30 rated sd cards.

    Help please, I have 3 Godox V1s with umbrella set up with OM-1. I set my flash power, aperture, iso, shutter speed to get the right exposure when I take a shot. But the problem is my live view and the LCD screen is very dark before I press the shutter button. I get great shot but I cannot even see the subject through live view or LCD. How to see through the LCD, modeling lamp is the only solution?

    Rob, I need a wireless microphone for my Olympus M5 Mark 2 camera. There's a lot of mics out there. Is the Olympus microphone jack a TRS or TRRS type connector? Just let me know what I should get. I believe it is TRS. Is this correct?
    Thanks!

    Rob, I have an Olympus M5 Mark ll camera. I want to use an external microphone to the stereo 3.5mm plug-in jack. How do I turn on audio recording in the menus? And, can I use a 3.5mm stereo wireless microphone on this camera? The one I am eyeing is a USB chargeable type. The receiver plugs into the microphone jack and the transmitter is a USB microphone chargeable type.
    Is this possible? Thanks!

      So Rob, to maker more clear to me. When I'm in movie mode. And set the settings in movie mode to "M" , it will use the manual settings for the movie? And when I'm in movie mode, do I press the shutter button or the red arrow button?
      Last couple of your videos, you told me that I can make all this settings in the manual mode.
      For an example: I do astrophotography and the moon or Jupiter is to bright on the screen. I can tone it down by reducing the shutter speed. In my case, my telescope is attached to the camera Olympus M5 Mark ll "T" adapter . No aperture settings. So I set the correct setting in the manual mode and then I press the Red movie button.
      If I press the shutter button, it makes a short video and I can't figure that out?
      Thanks!
      Ron 😊
